The sky was just beginning to brighten. After lingering in the hospital corridor for a while, Su Zhe decided to return to the ward.

As he turned, Su Zhe caught sight of a familiar figure emerging from a ward. He instinctively hid.

The figure did not notice him and instead walked to a corner to take a call.

"Hello, Zheng Yan, my mother is going to have surgery in a few days. Once my mother's surgery is done, will we get married?"

Hiding in the corner, Su Zhe inadvertently heard this news. His heart, which he thought he had already put to rest, began to churn uncontrollably. It still hurt so much. His beloved was about to marry someone else, and Su Zhe didn't know how to express his feelings; he only knew that he felt deeply distressed.

He didn't hear a word of what the girl said next. It wasn't until she returned to the ward that Su Zhe came back to his senses. He gave a bitter smile. She had already left him, so there was no reason to feel sad. He had long been just a passerby to her. It had been half a year; perhaps she had already forgotten him.

Shu Muyu entered the ward and soon left again.

After Shu Muyu got on the elevator and left, Su Zhe decided to go see her mother. He had heard that her mother was about to have surgery, and the person in the ward must be her mother. When he and Shu Muyu were together, her mother had been very kind to him.

In the past half year, he had not visited Shu Muyu's mother. Now that she was ill, Su Zhe felt it was his duty to visit her.

At the ward door, Su Zhe knocked.

Sitting on the bed was a middle-aged woman. Shu Muyu's mother was in her forties, and years of hard work had left deep crow's feet around her eyes. However, her thick, shiny hair was still jet black. Although she looked tired, her eyes still sparkled, and the lines on her face could not hide her former beauty.

Shu's mother turned her gaze from the window to the door. Seeing Su Zhe standing there, she immediately beamed with joy, clearly surprised to see him but even more delighted.

"Come, Xiao Zhe, come over here, let me have a good look at you." Shu's mother patted the bed, inviting Su Zhe to sit. "I haven't seen you in half a year, and I've been very worried about you."

Following Shu's mother's invitation, Su Zhe sat beside her.

As soon as Su Zhe sat down, Shu's mother took his hand and said, "Let me have a good look at you, see if our Xiao Zhe has lost weight. It's all my fault, I'm useless, and that's why Xiao Zhe has to work outside."

Shu's mother's words confused Su Zhe; he didn't understand what she meant.

Shu's mother continued, "Muyu told me that you plan to register your marriage after my illness is cured. If I weren't so useless and hadn't held you back, you wouldn't have to work outside to earn money."

Hearing this, Su Zhe realized that Shu's mother still didn't know that he and Shu Muyu had broken up. She thought he hadn't visited her because he was working to help pay for her treatment. Shu Muyu was about to get married, and he didn't know why she was doing this, but Su Zhe wouldn't expose the truth.

Perhaps because Shu's mother was ill, Shu Muyu didn't dare to tell her. She might wait until her mother was better before revealing it, as Shu's mother had always liked Su Zhe and had long considered him her son-in-law. Shu Muyu might be afraid that her mother would be upset, especially since she was already ill.

Su Zhe chatted with Shu's mother for a while and learned that Shu Muyu had gone to buy breakfast and would return soon.

Just as Su Zhe's phone rang, he took the opportunity to say that he had just passed by on his way to work and had come to visit Shu's mother. He was leaving now and asked Shu's mother not to tell Shu Muyu about his visit to avoid making her worry.

Although the excuse was flimsy, Shu's mother didn't doubt it.

After promising to take care of himself and visit Shu's mother when he had time, Su Zhe returned to the ward.

As soon as he left, Shu Muyu returned. Shu's mother didn't mention Su Zhe's visit, but Shu Muyu could sense that her mother was in a good mood. When she asked, her mother didn't say anything.

After returning to An Xuan's ward, Su Zhe told them he was going to buy breakfast.

After they finished breakfast, Su Zhe said to An Xin, "An Xin, pack up, and we'll go home."

Hearing this, An Xuan felt a bit down, thinking that Su Zhe and An Xin were leaving and she would miss them.

An Xin nodded and said, "I'll go ask the doctor when An Xuan can start treatment, and then we'll go home."

"No, that's not what I mean. We're all going home, including An Xuan. We won't continue the treatment," Su Zhe shook his head and said.

An Xin, hearing this, thought she must have misunderstood. Could Su Zhe be regretting giving her the money? But no matter what, she wouldn't let An Xuan give up on treatment. If Su Zhe was worried about the money, she would return it and find another way: "No way, Su Zhe, I'll return the money to you right away, and I'll find a way to help my sister."

Seeing An Xin's eyes turn red, Su Zhe realized he hadn't explained himself clearly and had caused her to misunderstand. He quickly said, "That's not what I mean. Just trust me, An Xin. I have a way to cure An Xuan."

In the hospital, Su Zhe was worried about being overheard and didn't dare to say too much.

Seeing An Xin hesitate, he quickly added, "Go ahead and check An Xuan out of the hospital. I'll explain everything when we get home. I won't harm An Xuan."

An Xin calmed down and realized that Su Zhe wasn't the kind of person to do such a thing. He had never lied to her and had always done his best to help her and her sister. It couldn't be about the money; otherwise, he wouldn't have regretted it now. Perhaps Su Zhe really had a way to help An Xuan.

So she agreed to Su Zhe's suggestion and left the ward to check An Xuan out.

Soon, An Xin returned with a doctor in a white coat and two nurses. Su Zhe recognized the doctor as Liu Yi, An Xuan's attending physician. When a patient wants to be discharged before recovery, the attending physician has the duty to understand the situation.

Liu Yi, wearing glasses and with fair skin, looked quite handsome in his white coat. However, he was very arrogant and often ignored patients and their families, but he was always kind to An Xuan, often coming to offer his help.

"I see Miss An wants to check out. May I ask why?" Liu Yi said in an unfriendly tone as soon as he saw Su Zhe.
