When everyone saw the figure on the large LED screen, the audience of thirty thousand people erupted in a wave of commotion.朴素妍 also froze, recognizing the couple on the screen, arm in arm, as none other than herself and Lee Yunjae.
"Sis... This time you really did it!" Lee Yunjae muttered in her ear. He was certain this was a deliberate move by the production team. With over thirty thousand people at the event, if he had been wearing ordinary clothes, there was no way he would have had such good luck to be chosen. But today, he was dressed as Santa Claus, and he had been singled out.
朴素妍 snapped back to reality and said with a smile, "Oh, stop looking so glum. You got the one-in-thirty-thousand chance, it's fate... You can't escape it!"
Lee Yunjae was so angry he could grind his teeth. At this moment,朴素妍 was making light of the situation, and it was all her fault. Lee Yunjae was fuming, his eyes practically shooting flames.
"Wow! This fan is really thoughtful, dressed as Santa Claus. It seems the Santa suit brought him good luck. Let's invite this fan to the stage!" Lee Hyori, seeing the Santa Claus on the LED screen, found it somewhat absurd and couldn't help but laugh.
"Hurry up... Over thirty thousand fans and hundreds of singers are waiting for you! Don't waste everyone's time!"朴素妍 urged Lee Yunjae, reveling in the chaos.
"Hey... If I go up, they'll recognize me..." Lee Yunjae growled.
朴素妍, of course, knew who "they" were. She chirped, "You idiot, with your current outfit, who would recognize you... And you have a beard on your face, what are you afraid of?"
Right! Lee Yunjae subconsciously touched the fluffy white beard on his face. Dressed like this, no one would likely recognize him.
Just as Lee Yunjae was lost in thought,朴素妍 shouted to a few male fans nearby, "Hey, guys, help me drag him up there!"
The enthusiasm of the male fans was hard for Lee Yunjae to resist. One lifted his buttocks, another his waist, another grabbed his legs, and another steadied his body. In this way, Lee Yunjae was carried to the stage by four male fans. The camera zoomed in on Lee Yunjae, and his awkward expression made the audience and singers burst into laughter.
"Yunjae, you can do it! I believe in you!"朴素妍 waved her fist from below, cheering him on.
Lee Yunjae shook his head inwardly. Since he was here, he might as well make the best of it. There was no turning back now. Climbing to his feet on the stage, he looked out at the sea of fans. In that instant, his veins swelled, his blood boiled, and the world seemed to fall silent.
"Showing off... Really showing off!" The fans below saw Lee Yunjae standing with his head tilted back, eyes closed, and arms spread wide, and they couldn't help but shout.
As if lost in a trance for several centuries, or just a few breaths, Lee Yunjae opened his eyes and quickly adapted to the stage.
The fans below whistled and screamed, their shouts something Lee Yunjae had never experienced before. Suddenly, he felt he had fallen in love with this feeling, it was wonderful, as if all the fans were in the palm of his hand.
"Hey, Lee Yunjae, stop daydreaming and get over here!"朴素妍 shouted up at the slightly dazed Lee Yunjae. Hearing her, he snapped back to reality and hurried to the main stage.
At this moment, Lee Yunjae was the most shining star on the stage. Lee Hyori's ample chest was no match for Lee Yunjae's sharp Santa Claus outfit, and Lee Hwi-jae's appearance was not as eye-catching as Lee Yunjae's. Unconsciously, the attention of both singers and fans was focused on Lee Yunjae.
"Great! This fan seems to be well-prepared!" Lee Hwi-jae walked around Lee Yunjae, full of praise. "Why didn't I think of wearing a Santa suit to host... What a mistake!"
Lee Hyori ignored Lee Hwi-jae's nonsense and turned to Lee Yunjae, "Sir... Can you tell us your name?"
Lee Yunjae's heart tightened. Lee Hyori had already handed him the microphone. His eyes darted around, and a flash of inspiration struck him. He said loudly, "Um... You can call me Santa Claus!"
The audience burst into laughter.
"Oh... It seems this fan doesn't want to reveal his true identity, and probably won't take off his white beard to show his real face, right?" Lee Hyori asked.
Lee Yunjae nodded.
"That's fine... Then let's have Santa Claus perform for everyone! How do you feel standing here today?" Lee Hyori changed the subject.
"Um..." Lee Yunjae's tongue tied, not knowing what to say. He glanced at Lee Hyori's ample chest and her face, which was flushed from the cold wind, and said, "The only feeling I have is that you are truly beautiful. Watching you from below and standing next to you are completely different experiences!"
The audience burst into laughter again. Was this public flirting? "Santa Claus" dared to flirt with their goddess in front of the whole nation. The male fans couldn't stand it, wishing they could take Lee Yunjae's place and get close to the goddess Lee Hyori. The singers in the audience also chuckled.
Lee Hyori gave Lee Yunjae a playful glare, full of charm.
"Alright, Hyori, stop teasing this fan!" Lee Hwi-jae thought it was enough. "This is a rare opportunity for you to be here. Do you have any special skills to perform for everyone? Dancing or singing is fine!"
Standing on this stage, facing over thirty thousand fans, it took a lot of courage and confidence to sing and dance. Lee Hwi-jae was afraid Lee Yunjae would be at a loss and specially reminded him.
"Um... I'll sing a song!" Lee Yunjae blurted out after a moment's thought.
"Singing is great! What song will you sing?"
After a few seconds of silence, Lee Yunjae said, "I'll sing Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life'!"
Oh, this guy has some guts!
All the singers turned their attention to the Santa Claus on stage. "It's My Life" was not a song to be sung casually. It required a certain level of vocal skill, and it was in English, which was challenging for non-native speakers. One wrong move and it could sound terrible. Kim Heechul had once sung this song, but it lacked the raw emotion and spirit of Jon Bon Jovi's version.
"An English song, that's not easy to sing. Why don't you choose a Korean song instead?" Lee Hyori suggested, genuinely concerned for the Santa Claus, fearing he would make a fool of himself. Jon Bon Jovi was not easy to imitate, and a wrong move could make him look ridiculous.
Lee Yunjae understood Lee Hyori's good intentions, but standing on this stage, facing over thirty thousand fans, his passion was rising. It felt like a wild beast was struggling inside him, ready to break free. He wanted to let out a primal scream, to release his passion and celebrate the brilliance of life.
Seeing this, Lee Hyori didn't try to dissuade him further and walked to the side with Lee Hwi-jae. The stage was now left to Lee Yunjae, dressed as Santa Claus, his face hidden.
Over thirty thousand eyes were on Lee Yunjae, including those of the singers, fans, and朴素妍, who was silently praying. All these gazes merged into one.
The band was behind Lee Yunjae. Just as the staff were about to give the band the signal, Lee Yunjae made a surprising move. He walked to the electric guitarist and said something. No one heard what they said, but after Lee Yunjae spoke, the guitarist looked at him intently, then took off his guitar and handed it to Lee Yunjae.
The audience erupted in a wave of commotion.
Showing off... This guy really loves to show off! He's going to play and sing, how cool! All the male fans groaned. They knew "It's My Life" well. Every man had played CS, and who didn't know the theme song of CS?
It was a song that made your blood boil, a song about breaking free from destiny and becoming a strong person, inspiring generations. The fans below didn't believe that a random Santa Claus could perform this song perfectly.
After the staff helped Lee Yunjae with the microphone, he walked to the front of the stage with the electric guitar. With a thud, he stepped on the spotlight cover at the edge of the stage. His posture was more dramatic than any rock star on TV.
The audience below murmured, "You're just putting on a show, stop pretending and start singing..."
