Chapter 72: Shooting Completed
6 min read1,566 words
The MV of "I Should Love You" portrays the story of a singer, played by Lee Yunjae, who gradually develops feelings for his new assistant. After a new wave of market changes, Lee Yunjae's career in the entertainment industry faces a significant impact. However, the assistant does not leave him but stays by his side, offering support and ideas. In the end, she dedicates herself entirely to him. There is a period where the two argue, and the female lead leaves. Lee Yunjae then adopts her suggestions and, with a visual rock style, rises to the peak of his career again. When he turns back to find her, she is gone.
Shooting this MV deeply moved Lee Yunjae, and he believes that the MV will touch many singers and artists. In the unpredictable and demanding environment of the entertainment industry, it is not a typical 9-to-5 job. Finding someone who truly understands and fits with you is very difficult, but he still harbors this hope in his heart.
On the second day of shooting, they encountered a crucial scene in the entire MV—smashing a guitar in anger at a TV station.
This scene was entirely shot at SBS, not on a set. For most artists, shooting an MV at a TV station is a rare opportunity, let alone for a newcomer like Lee Yunjae. This also demonstrates the strong connections of LOEN Entertainment.
"Starting the third take!"
At 11:30 PM, in an idle studio at SBS, after the clapperboard was struck, Lee Yunjae immediately performed an action that made everyone on set "fearful"—he smashed the guitar on the stage with great force. At the same time, Jeon Bora inadvertently gasped and then tears unknowingly streamed down her face.
"Cut!!"
Finally, after smashing three guitars, they perfectly captured the scene. The staff breathed a sigh of relief, and the first major scene was over.
"OK, everyone has worked hard today. Go home early and rest. We have even more important work tomorrow. Just a few more days, and we'll be done!" Under Director Kim's direction, the staff neatly packed up the equipment and left.
"Ms. Bora... You acted so realistically, even shedding tears!" Seeing Jeon Bora's uncontrollable tears, Lee Yunjae marveled. When shooting the last scene of "Please Don't Do That," he couldn't cry no matter what, resulting in multiple NGs.
Jeon Bora grimaced and said painfully, "You hit my foot just now..."
What... Lee Yunjae was shocked. He helped Jeon Bora sit down, then squatted to take off her shoes and socks. A flawless little foot was exposed in the air, and there was indeed a red mark on her foot, but it wasn't severe.
"It's fine, just a little red. It will be better tomorrow!" Lee Yunjae comforted her.
"It hurts so much..." Jeon Bora looked at Lee Yunjae with a grievous expression.
"Alright, I'll carry you down. It's inconvenient for you to walk with a limp!" Lee Yunjae bent down in front of Jeon Bora, and she climbed onto his back without pretense.
The next day, Jeon Bora indeed appeared lively and energetic on set, and Lee Yunjae breathed a sigh of relief.
In the following days, the shooting went smoothly without any issues. On the sixth day, the second major scene of the entire MV was about to be shot.
This scene, though simple, was the essence of the rocker spirit—using a "human sea" tactic. In the climax of the story, Lee Yunjae, playing a rock singer, holds a concert and, after singing until he is hoarse, falls into the crowd. The crowd then flips him over, and he is pushed back to the stage, similar to how foreign rock singers dive into the audience and are carried back by the "wave."
On the shooting day, Director Kim gathered over 200 extras to complete this challenging scene in one day.
At the beginning of the shoot, Lee Yunjae was a bit nervous, worried that if the crowd didn't catch him, he would be in trouble. To ensure his safety, the staff laid thick padding on the ground to eliminate any safety risks.
The first take was NG, the second take was NG, and the third take was NG, all because Lee Yunjae's jump wasn't graceful enough. Under Director Kim's strong urging, Lee Yunjae calmed down and took the plunge. On the fourth take, he leaped backward, his back forming a perfect arc in the air. The extras below cooperated flawlessly, catching him and passing him along until he was returned to the stage.
After this scene was completed, it meant that the shooting of the "I Should Love You" MV was almost over.
On January 28th, the shooting of "I Should Love You" was officially completed, marking the end of the three MVs in which Lee Yunjae personally starred.
After saying goodbye to Jeon Bora, Lee Yunjae went directly to President Bae Song-in's office. For him, the work was far from over.
"President, how is the shooting of 'Elimination' going?" Lee Yunjae asked eagerly as soon as he entered.
President Bae Song-in, who had already received a call from Director Kim, replied with a smile, "Don't worry, it's already done. The MV for 'Elimination' is simple and was completed in just one day! Now that all four MVs are done, your next task is to shoot the album cover and posters!"
Phew... The next task was much easier, and Lee Yunjae's tense mood relaxed. He had been under a lot of stress during the MV shooting, which was a significant mental burden for him.
"Start shooting in the studio tomorrow. I've arranged everything. The album will definitely be released on February 7th. Now everything is ready, we just need the final push!" President Bae Song-in's face was filled with a smile, but he couldn't hide his nervousness. Too many failures had shaken his confidence. Although he was optimistic about Lee Yunjae's mini-album, he still lacked strong confidence.
Seeing Lee Yunjae nod, President Bae Song-in continued, "Starting tomorrow, the company will begin a full-scale promotion for you. You will be provided with a limousine. You can no longer do whatever you want. Most importantly, whether it's with female artists or others, you must maintain a distance and avoid any scandals! Remember, you cannot date for the next two years!"
Lee Yunjae nodded in response. Generally, talent agencies restrict their artists from dating. For example, YG Entertainment has a dating ban, and artists can only date after reaching a certain age.
For new artists, even if they want to date, they have no time. In a 24-hour day, they might sleep for only 6 hours at most, and sometimes as little as 2-3 hours, leaving no time for dating. Running errands, commercial performances, and other activities keep them extremely busy.
After the new artist period, the agency becomes less restrictive. After all, artists are human, especially young people, and dating is a psychological, emotional, and physiological need that cannot be prevented. Therefore, after the new artist period, the agency will tacitly allow dating, as long as it remains secret. If discovered, the consequences can be severe, ranging from a happy ending to being shelved and breaking up.
"Alright, I understand!" Lee Yunjae responded.

At the same time, at CCM Entertainment.
Park So-yeon stood nervously in the line for the audition, her heart pounding. Just then, she felt her phone vibrate in her bag. As she was about to answer it, the examiner called her name.
"Next, Park So-yeon!"
Park So-yeon couldn't bother with the phone call and walked into a spacious practice room to begin her long-prepared audition.
"Sing a song for us to hear!" Kim Gwang-soo looked down at Park So-yeon's resume and said.
Park So-yeon sang BoA's "NO.1" a cappella. Kim Gwang-soo nodded slightly, saying, "Not bad. I see from your resume that you trained at S.M. for two years and were one of the ten candidates for Girls' Generation. Why did you leave S.M.?"
"The competition at S.M. was too intense. There were many talented trainees, and it was difficult to debut. I'm already 22 years old, and S.M. already has a girl group. I don't know when the next one will be formed. If I don't debut soon, I'll have to leave S.M. Instead of waiting for opportunities at S.M., I thought it would be better to try my luck outside, where the chances of finding opportunities are greater!" Park So-yeon gave a plausible reason, trying to avoid revealing her true intentions.
"What do you think?" Kim Gwang-soo turned to the other two examiners for their opinions.
"Not bad... She has a good voice and is clearly well-trained. I think we should accept her. We don't have many trainees like her in our company."
"The president has been preparing to launch a girl group. She could be a candidate. Her appearance, figure, and voice are all top-notch, making her a valuable addition to the company!"
Kim Gwang-soo nodded slightly, agreeing with their assessment. The purpose of this recruitment was to select talented trainees to form a girl group. After rigorous training, six trainees would be chosen to form the group. Park So-yeon was clearly a candidate not to be missed.
