"Michael!"

Five people's hearts trembled with the same name. For the young basketball players, Michael Jordan was the eternal basketball god.

"Are you calling me?" Yang Mo pointed to himself, a bit puzzled.

"Is there anyone else among you who is Chinese?" Michael Jordan asked with a smile.

"Go on, we're waiting for your good news." Westbrook hurriedly pushed Yang Mo. They all knew the chances of Yang Mo being selected were very small, but now that Michael Jordan was willing to chat with him, it meant the Bobcats might be interested in him. They all hoped Yang Mo would be selected, so they pushed him forward.

Yang Mo knew these brothers meant well. But he had already reached a secret agreement with Miami. If Michael Jordan were to intervene, wouldn't it ruin everything? At that moment, he was quite conflicted.

Going might ruin everything. Not going would mean not giving the basketball god face.

After weighing his options, Yang Mo finally gritted his teeth and walked up. He thought to himself that whatever Michael Jordan asked, he would answer in a negative way, so he definitely wouldn't be selected.

Michael led Yang Mo to a coffee shop outside the gym and sat down. Then he asked, "Do you need a translator? Our player management department has a Chinese girl."

"No, I don't need one." Yang Mo waved his hand. Since completing the task with Shaquille O'Neal, his spoken English was already at the level of a native American.

"I just watched you play, and I think you're very good. Would you like to come to our team for a tryout?" Michael Jordan asked with a smile, maintaining his utmost kindness.

"No." Yang Mo shook his head decisively.

"Hmm?" Michael Jordan frowned, a bit surprised. He hadn't expected a player to refuse his offer. Didn't this kid know who he was?

Seeing Michael Jordan frown, Yang Mo quickly made up an excuse: "I think my level might not meet the NBA standards, so I don't want to waste money and time."

"No, no, no." Michael Jordan waved his hands, saying, "You should be confident, buddy. Don't listen to what others say about you. I think you are one of the best ten players in this training camp. If you're willing, the door of the Charlotte Bobcats will always be open to you."

Michael Jordan's words were a promise to Yang Mo. If it were three days ago, Yang Mo would have been overjoyed. But now, he had already received a promise from Pat Riley, and even the contract was ready.

Being recognized by the basketball god made him happy, but he felt more apologetic because he had to let the basketball god down. What could he do? He had already reached an agreement with Pat Riley.

"Thank you very much," Yang Mo said apologetically, "but... I still don't plan to go to Charlotte for a tryout. The draft is the day after tomorrow, and the back-and-forth travel will make me very tired."

If another rookie had said this to Michael Jordan, he would have thrown a cup of coffee in his face. What kind of person was this? I, the great basketball god, am not putting on airs, and you're acting so high and mighty in front of me?

But for Yang Mo, Michael Jordan was extremely fond. He made a concession without hesitation, and without any limits: "Okay, if you don't want to go to Charlotte, that's fine. Can I learn more about your family and growing up environment?"

Huh? Family? Growing up environment?

Yang Mo felt something was off when he heard this. He thought, "Could it be that Michael Jordan has really chosen me? He's even asking about my family background. Is this a form of concern for a new employee?"

Although surprised, out of politeness, Yang Mo answered truthfully: "When I was ten, I lost my parents. Since then, I've been on my own."

Yang Mo spoke calmly, briefly recounting his story without seeking sympathy. In fact, Yang Mo didn't need sympathy. He knew at ten that everything depended on himself, and living in others' pity was even more pitiful than being a beggar.

Yang Mo spoke calmly, but Michael Jordan's heart was stirred: No wonder this kid is so dominant on the court; he's been independent since he was young. His strong competitive spirit must be due to his family environment. I must select him. If he can't be defeated by life, he certainly won't be defeated on the court.

Yang Mo didn't know that his simple words would make Michael Jordan even more determined.

"I'm sorry for bringing up your painful past."

"It's nothing, it's all in the past." Yang Mo shook his head. He didn't think it was a painful thing. Only the weak live in the pain of the past.

Michael Jordan was very satisfied with Yang Mo's composure. He admired this kind of tough guy, not the kind who complains and whines. He then asked, "Do you have any bad habits?"

Yang Mo thought carefully. He really didn't have any bad habits. His life for over twenty years was like that of a Puritan. After thinking for a while, he asked, "Does not washing my face count?"

Ha!

Michael Jordan burst out laughing, saying, "You're too cute. Of course not. What I mean is, do you have habits like smoking marijuana?"

"No." Yang Mo shook his head, saying, "Those things are illegal in China."

"Oh, that's a relief." Michael Jordan nodded, feeling relieved. He really feared having a drug addict in the locker room, which would be a huge blow to the team.

Jordan was silent for a moment and finally asked a professional question: "Have you always played power forward?"

"I never received professional training. I'm tall for a Chinese person, so every time I played, my friends would always make me play center or power forward." Yang Mo said simply, afraid that if he said too much, Michael Jordan would really be interested in him.

"You never received professional training?" Michael Jordan asked, eager to know more.

"Yes, that's right." Yang Mo nodded, a bit confused about Michael Jordan's intention. He thought that saying he hadn't received professional training would make Michael Jordan less interested, so he added, "I just practiced on my own."

Yang Mo thought this would make Michael Jordan less interested, but to his surprise, Michael Jordan became even more enthusiastic: A gem! To play like this without any training, he must be a true genius. If he receives professional training, how amazing will he be in the future?

"Okay, no need to say more." Michael Jordan excitedly slapped the table, scaring Yang Mo, who thought he was about to leave. But after slapping the table, he tightly grabbed Yang Mo's shoulders and said excitedly, "You are the player we need. I will definitely select you."

What?

Yang Mo was completely stunned. He thought, "Why? I've been so negative about myself, and you still want to select me? Are you crazy?"

"Are you sure you want to select me?" Yang Mo asked, bewildered.

"Sure." Michael Jordan nodded firmly, saying boldly, "I want to use you to prove to the world that my judgment is accurate, and the previous mistakes were just that—mistakes."

Yang Mo was very grateful that Michael Jordan held him in such high regard. But... how would he explain it to Pat Riley?

At that moment, Michael Jordan's assistant brought in a tall Chinese woman.

As soon as she entered, Jordan excitedly waved her over, saying, "Lu, come over. This is your compatriot. You'll be working together in the future."

Yang Mo followed the sound and saw the woman Jordan called 'Lu.' She had black hair, exquisite features, and a gentle demeanor typical of the Jiangnan region. However, her figure was extremely curvaceous, with a typical American girl's body, exuding a wild and seductive aura. The two extremes blended perfectly in her, with no sense of contradiction. Yang Mo couldn't help but think, "This is the ultimate blend of East and West!"
