Chapter 3

At 9:39 AM on September 1st...

After carefully checking the water, electricity, and gas at home, Yue Yuan felt relieved. Who would have thought that he would end his own life before finishing the game? He then hurriedly lay down in the game pod, quietly waiting for the game to start.

His vision darkened, and Yue Yuan instantly entered a state between half-sleep and half-awake. However, this state did not last long. In the blink of an eye, his vision returned, and he found himself floating in a void. In front of him, a countdown was floating—

"Ten seconds until the game starts!"

"Nine seconds until the game starts!"

"……"

"One second until the game starts!"

"The game has started. Do you want to enter the game? Yes or No?"

How could he give up at this point? Yue Yuan pointed at "Yes" and lightly tapped it. His consciousness then shifted, and he found himself in a world of light, warm and comfortable, but not blinding.

Suddenly, a rainbow of light shone on Yue Yuan, enveloping him from head to toe. Before he could react, the light dissipated. If it weren't for the voice in his ear saying, "Player's personal attributes have been collected, data generation in progress," Yue Yuan would have thought the light was an illusion.

"Players can check their personal attributes by mentally reciting them." A prompt sounded in Yue Yuan's ear.

"Personal attributes," Yue Yuan followed the prompt and immediately checked his attributes.

The attribute panel displayed—

After reading through, Yue Yuan let out a deep breath. The attribute values were within his expectations.

Strength and stamina were still those of a 16-year-old teenager. At this age, he was quite active, so the attribute values, though not reaching the average, were still better than some adult women, which he could accept.

Agility was higher than average, which could be understood as his quick thinking and fast reactions. However, the spirit being so much higher than average was a bit surprising. Did transmigrators come with a mental mutation? Or did he absorb the soul of "himself" without inheriting the memories?

Just as Yue Yuan was pondering the reason for the attribute generation, the system voice sounded again, "Before entering the formal adventure, players must first complete an independent beginner story. Completing the task will allow entry into the inner world; otherwise, the character will be deleted, and the player can only enter the outer world for three months before re-generating attributes for another test."

Yue Yuan scratched his head and said helplessly, "The death penalty is really severe. I wonder how many beginners will die in this independent story?"

Just as Yue Yuan thought he was about to enter the beginner story, he received a new prompt—Fate Choice (Choose one)

1. Beginner story attribute boost by 50%

2. Participate in an unknown trial to obtain special rewards

"Choose the second trial." Without much thought, Yue Yuan quickly made his choice.

The beginner story didn't necessarily involve combat, and a 50% attribute boost would only make his agility exceed the average, allowing him to run faster. The extra spirit points wouldn't be very useful without skills. As for strength and stamina, they were only slightly above average, offering no significant advantage in the story world.

The unknown rewards from the second trial offered more possibilities. As a shut-in, he needed to surpass his opponents from the start to gain an early advantage.

"Trial begins." With this, Yue Yuan found himself in a black corridor, with deep darkness behind him and flashing images on both sides of the corridor. He glanced at the nearest image and was stunned. The character in the image was Spider-Man, the Spider-Man from the original trilogy. Why the original? It was the final battle with the Green Goblin from the first movie.

Just as Yue Yuan was wondering what the trial was testing, the system began to explain.

"The trial is limited to 30 minutes. Players must choose image segments in the world corridor. After 30 minutes, players will analyze the character's personality, abilities, dialogue, and other aspects in the chosen images. The more complete the description, the richer the rewards." As the rules were explained, a timer appeared in front of him, and the countdown began.

"Since it didn't specify how many images to choose, does that mean I can choose more than one?" Yue Yuan's first reaction was not whether he could complete the trial but the hidden rules in the trial. "That makes sense. For this world, one image is enough to analyze for a long time. Only I would think of choosing more."

Yue Yuan observed the images on both sides as he walked forward. Although he couldn't recognize all of them, he could tell that this section was from movie series. Since he wasn't a movie enthusiast, he walked quickly. After five minutes, the images were no longer from movies. It wasn't until he recognized the game "Prototype" that he realized he was in the game series.

Just as he was about to be dazzled by the countless images, he remembered the old saying, "Two birds in the forest are not as good as one in the hand." He chose four images and left the game series.

Next came anime. After carefully selecting, he chose the ninth segment. When he tried to choose more, he found he couldn't.

There was a limit to the number of images. Nine was the maximum. Unable to choose more, Yue Yuan continued walking to see what was at the end of the anime section, but he didn't recognize any of them.

The 30 minutes passed quickly. "Selection time is over. Begin the second stage of character analysis. Each image is limited to one minute." As he spoke, the first selected image appeared in front of Yue Yuan as a still frame. Yue Yuan pointed to the ancient man in the image, holding a Chinese long sword and wearing a blue cloak.

"Fei Peng, the divine general guarding the 'Well of Gods and Demons.' He is lonely, combative, and hard-headed, with deep emotions but no tenderness, and he doesn't care about others' opinions. Due to his daily duty of guarding a gate, he is very lonely, so he occasionally chats with Xi Yao, who nurtures the divine tree in the immortal realm, about his favorite battles, immortal arts, and sword techniques. In the battle with Chong Lou, the two admire each other. In the end, Fei Peng agrees to a duel with Chong Lou in a newly discovered immortal realm (New Immortal Realm). Since then, the immortal realm learns of Fei Peng's private duel and his failure to guard the Well of Gods and Demons, so they send Tian Bing and Tian Jiang to capture Fei Peng.

When the celestial soldiers found Fei Peng, he was distracted and lost in the battle. His sword fell to the mortal world, becoming the Exorcist Sword of Shu Mountain."

The first character Yue Yuan recognized was not Fei Peng but his opponent, Chong Lou. Who could forget the iconic appearance of Chong Lou from the first "Sword and Fairy"? Besides, the two were evenly matched, but Fei Peng had a more heroic and protagonist-like appearance.

Yue Yuan felt like he was back in the college entrance exam, answering questions more seriously than ever.

Until he finished describing the image and waited for the evaluation, his heart never calmed down.

"Player 6510's trial results are as follows—

Fei Peng—85% completeness

Yun Tianhe—88% completeness

Vergil—92% completeness

Sephiroth—78% completeness

Lelouch—89% completeness

Minato Namikaze—95% completeness

Madara Uchiha—72% completeness

Obito Uchiha—71% completeness

Pegasus—90% completeness

Based on the completeness of the character descriptions, the rewards are as follows—

0%—10%: Weakened skill version

10%—30%: Attribute growth

30%—50%: Complete skill version

50%—70%: A specific talent

50%—90%: Incomplete bloodline

95%—100%: Special fusion

"Congratulations, Player 6510, for meeting the hidden condition of one character with 95% or higher completeness and the rest with 50% or higher completeness. Triggering hidden reward—Super Fusion.

Rewards will be transformed into innate characteristics and re-create the character."

Before Yue Yuan could choose whether to accept the reward, it was forcibly executed. As he was about to check his attribute panel, a white light enveloped him, and he heard the system prompt, "Reward distribution complete. Begin beginner story trial."

"Damn, what exactly is the reward!" Before he could finish his complaint, Yue Yuan's figure disappeared from the trial space.
