Chapter 90

In Wang Qi's memory, the monthly exams were basically synonymous with a holiday. The Immortal Alliance went even further, actually giving the disciples a day off before the monthly exams to adjust. However, since the Alliance's monthly exams included martial arts, an extra day for adjustment was quite normal.

Wang Qi welcomed this day off very much. He had been using his spare time over the past few days to tinker with something. With this day, he might be able to complete his research before the monthly exams.

Although this research might not have much significance, it was at least an interesting thing to do.

Early in the morning, Wang Qi ran to the mirror room in the book tower. To read a specific article, one didn't need to specially exchange the borrowing rights for a book; by paying merit points through the Myriad Immortal Illusionary Realm, one could directly access it, much like paying for online reading. Wang Qi quickly exchanged for a paper and began to copy it.

"Yin-Yang Hexagram Theory." Zhen Chanzi looked at the title Wang Qi was copying and couldn't help but ask, "Kid, are you planning to study the ten-finger calculation method?"

Wang Qi nodded in response, "Something like that, for the cultivation of the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra."

The ten-finger calculation method, or in Earth's terms, the conversion between decimal and binary, was, in Wang Qi's view, part of the nine-year compulsory education curriculum. In other words, a qualified middle school student could do it.

However, what seems so simple today was once the result of a genius's countless efforts. The reason later generations found it simple was that they started from the shoulders of their predecessors.

Wang Qi was a high-achieving student in mathematics in his previous life, but if he had to independently invent binary, he would never have been able to do it.

However, because he started from a high point, later scholars often had less understanding of some "fundamental" knowledge. Euclid's axioms are learned in elementary school, but few people can provide a proof at that stage. Such geniuses, if placed in the神州 (Shenzhou), would have a good chance of becoming a Free and Easy Wanderer.

As is well known, the inventor of binary on Earth was the German mathematician Leibniz, but the system Wang Qi mainly studied was called "Boolean algebra," which was a generation ahead of Leibniz. Wang Qi was completely unfamiliar with the derivation process of Leibniz's binary.

However, since Wang Qi was far from being able to fully grasp the essence of the cultivation techniques, whether it was Leibniz's algorithm or Boolean algebra made no difference to him. He borrowed this paper for another purpose.

After returning to his room, he carefully read the paper "Yin-Yang Hexagram Theory." According to the historical records of Shenzhou, the Venerable Integral Lai Buli suddenly had an enlightenment while observing the Yin-Yang Eight Trigrams and wrote this paper. Later, the Venerable spent countless efforts to integrate it into a mathematical cultivation technique that was originally only decent. This mathematical cultivation technique is today's "Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra."

To fundamentally analyze the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra, reading "Yin-Yang Hexagram Theory" could save a lot of effort.

After reading, Wang Qi closed his eyes and focused on sensing the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra's power within his body. Then, he wrote a function on the paper.

The intrinsic transformation formula of the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra.

Wang Qi's next action confused Zhen Chanzi even more. Wang Qi actually used the interpolation method in mathematics to combine the intrinsic formula of the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra with the intrinsic formula of the ancient Five Elements Sect's cultivation technique.

"What are you doing?"

"Multiple-layer excess and deficiency method. That's what it's called in Shenzhou."

"I'm not asking you that..." Zhen Chanzi was momentarily speechless.

The process of combining the formulas lasted for half an hour. Wang Qi looked at the function on the paper, fell into deep thought, and then, while referring to the Five Elements Sect's cultivation technique, he began writing on the paper. Zhen Chanzi's shock grew even more intense when he glanced at it.

He was actually creating a cultivation technique!

In the ancient cultivation methods, the ancient was revered, and the best techniques were always from ancient times. However, there were also many cultivators who could create their own techniques, blazing a path no one had walked before. Although these self-created techniques were mostly only suitable for the creators themselves and had no universality, there was no doubt that each of them was a genius!

Wang Qi could create a cultivation technique at the Qi Condensation stage?

For the entire day, Wang Qi was at his desk, deducing the cultivation technique. He only drank water twice and went out for lunch. By late afternoon, he put down his pen and stretched, "Done."

Zhen Chanzi couldn't believe it, "Creating a cultivation technique! Finished in one day?"

"How big a deal is it?"

Wang Qi picked up another sheet of draft paper, copied down the useful parts he had deduced, and then slapped the table, "Old man, take a look at this cultivation technique!"

Hearing Wang Qi's rather self-satisfied voice, Zhen Chanzi didn't dare to be careless. He took great care and read Wang Qi's work with respect.

Then, his mood became indescribable. If it were Wang Qi, he would probably have shouted, "I took off my pants, and you show me this?" But Zhen Chanzi, who hadn't worn pants for ten thousand years and valued his conduct, held back similar dirty words. Wang Qi could even feel the ring vibrating slightly. After a while, Zhen Chanzi asked, "You want me to look at this, is there some purpose?"

"Guess."

Zhen Chanzi said, "This cultivation technique... is truly inferior."

In Zhen Chanzi's view, even the most insignificant stray cultivator from ten thousand years ago wouldn't have given this technique a second glance. He had no say in the modern techniques, but he was an expert in the ancient techniques. He could see at a glance that this technique couldn't even reach the Foundation Establishment stage!

This was the technique that combined the five supreme techniques of the modern sects and the direct transmission of the ancient Five Elements Sect to the Great Perfection stage?

Are you kidding me?

Feeling Zhen Chanzi's roar in the ring, Wang Qi laughed, "This is tailor-made for you!"

"Phew! Such an inferior ancient technique, I wouldn't have given it a second glance in the past!"

Wang Qi explained, "It's not for you to practice, but for you to read!"

"Huh?"

Wang Qi sneered, "Didn't you say the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra seemed familiar but you couldn't remember where you had seen it?"

"That's right."

"I thought about it, and the problem is basically two things. One, you don't understand modern techniques; two, you can't connect the ten-finger calculation method with the cultivation technique and are not familiar with binary. I thought about it and specially adjusted it to a decimal technique, still an ancient one."

The Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra's power, classified by ancient techniques, has Yin-Yang attributes. When combined with the Five Elements Sect's cultivation technique, it can produce ten attributes of power, such as Jia Wood, Yi Wood, Bing Fire, and Ding Fire. Then, using some methods from the Hexagram Fixed Calculation Sutra, it can also serve the purpose of calculation.

"Moreover, I specially reduced the difficulty of the technique. Pure decimal, low difficulty, completely suitable for elementary school, phew, primary school graduates." Wang Qi showed a TV shopping-style smile and gave a thumbs up to the ring, "You deserve to have it!"
