“Huh?”
Kiri smiled at the
confused Touya as if he were teasing him.
“Since I’ve been
busy, and you’ve been taking care of Natsuki and Akio, we haven’t had
much time to talk just the two of us, but—even though we all live in
the same house, I’m the only one who gets treated differently,
huh.”
“That’s not it.”
Straightening his posture,
Touya decided he needed to tell him how he felt. The way he felt when
Kiri stroked his head—how it felt sweet, like experiencing the
flavor of a pastry for the first time, and how it was very dear to
him, almost to the point of craving it.
“I’m very
thankful for you, Kiri. If you didn’t help me when I first woke up
here—I don’t know what would have happened to me. It’s not just
Natsuki and Akio, but you too, of course. I don’t want to lose the
bond the three of us have formed.”
“I’m glad. I was
included in your thoughts.”
When he smiled happily, even
though he knew being his wife was just a misunderstanding, Touya’s
face became warm. It had way too much of an effect on him—he
thought, as he frantically tried to change the subject.
“Kiri……you said you’ve been busy, you mean with your
work in the human world? I heard about it from Akio. That a youkai
called a soul eater has appeared.”
“Akio only told
you about it, huh. That’s good.”
“I was curious about it,
so I asked. That youkai—eats souls, and takes on their victim’s form,
right?”
