"Life is full of joy, but tears are also inevitable. We all meet under the Lion Rock, and laughter has always outweighed sighs. Life is not without its ups and downs..."

It was too hot to go home at this time, so Chan Ka Kiu and Li Er挤在了一个几十人的小摊位上看电视。 TVs were not cheap in this era, and few residents in the public housing estates could afford to buy one. Most people still came to the streets to watch free TV programs.

Naturally, Li Er and Chan Ka Kiu's families did not have a TV either.

"Can you stop singing while you watch TV?" Li Er couldn't help but say.

Chan Ka Kiu glanced at Li Er, "Others are singing too!"

Li Er said firmly, "I know, but you sing the worst!"

Chan Ka Kiu glanced at Li Er again, ignoring his mood, and continued to sing the theme song from the TV with his unique, raspy voice.

Li Er didn't want to be irritated by Chan Ka Kiu's singing, so he stepped back a few paces, turned around, and walked to the other end of the street. As he looked at the familiar yet strange scenes on both sides of the street, he slowly compared them with his memories, and before he knew it, he had walked back to the public housing estate.

Li Er looked at the fake Rolex on his wrist; it was already eleven o'clock.

"Hey! Big Brother Er, Big Brother Er, help me move the table!" A girl with shoulder-length hair waved happily at Li Er from the stairwell.

"Big Brother Er, my dad bought me a used desk. Can you help me carry it upstairs?" the girl pleaded.

Li Er walked over.

The girl was about the same age as Li Shiyi, wearing a white school uniform. From her expression, she seemed to recognize him, and Li Er also found her familiar, but he couldn't remember who she was.

"You let go, I'll do it myself!" Li Er waved her off when he saw her trying to help lift the table.

The stairs in the public housing estate were narrow, and two people carrying the table would only make it harder to go up.

Li Er bent down and easily lifted the desk onto his shoulder. He realized he was quite strong; the heavy desk didn't feel particularly burdensome.

"Be careful, Big Brother Er."

"You go first." Li Er gestured for the girl to go ahead, as he couldn't remember which floor she lived on.

"Okay!"

The girl lived on the sixth floor. Li Er struggled to carry the desk up to the sixth floor, his legs trembling from the effort. By the time he reached the third floor, he was already out of breath, realizing his strength was short-lived.

"Big Brother Er, just put it here!" The girl quickly moved some chairs from the living room wall to make space for the desk.

"Zhu Wanfang," Li Er saw the girl's name on her homework book after placing the desk down.

"Big Brother Er, thank you so much! Sit down and rest, I'll get you some water!" Zhu Wanfang took a bottle of mineral water from the fridge and handed it to Li Er.

Li Er took the water and turned to leave, thinking to himself, "What if Zhu Wanfang asks me to carry the broken desk back down? I'd be exhausted."

"Big Brother Er, did you get a haircut?" Zhu Wanfang noticed Li Er's neat hairstyle, first in surprise, then covering her mouth and whispering, "Big Brother Er, did you break up again?"

Li Er: "..."

Li Er was annoyed. Was he known for breaking up?

Li Er didn't realize that this was thanks to Chan Ka Kiu's big mouth. Once Chan Ka Kiu knew something, it wouldn't take long for everyone around to know.

...

"Sir, we need to check your ID." Chan Ka Kiu raised his hand and stopped a suspicious passerby. "Sorry, please cooperate!"

"Sir, what's going on? I'm in a hurry to get to work. Don't waste my time," the man in a suit said irritably.

Chan Ka Kiu put on a serious face, "ID! Thank you!"

The man impatiently took out his ID, and Chan Ka Kiu handed it to Li Er.

"PC6295 calling the station, check this ID number!" Li Er called the police station on the radio.

The police station quickly verified that the man had no criminal record.

Li Er returned the ID to the man.

"Damn cop, wasting my time!" the man muttered.

Chan Ka Kiu and Zhang Dazui's faces stiffened.

"What? Want to hit me? Come on!" The man sneered at Chan Ka Kiu and Zhang Dazui's angry expressions. "In broad daylight, I don't believe you dare to hit me."

"Sir, you just jaywalked," Li Er said calmly.

The man laughed arrogantly, "So what? You're not traffic cops!"

Li Er took out a notebook seriously, "True, we're not traffic cops, so let's wait for the traffic cops to handle it!"

"Zhang Dazui! Notify the nearby traffic cops!" Li Er said without looking up.

The man's face changed, "Sir, I was wrong, give me a chance!"

Waiting for the traffic cops? This would really make him late for work.

Li Er didn't say anything.

"Sir, I was wrong, I was out of line. I have a family to support, give me a chance!" The man turned to Chan Ka Kiu, pleading.

"Go on, go on! You know you have a family to support, so follow the traffic rules. Who will be responsible if an accident happens?" Chan Ka Kiu waved him off.

"Yes, yes, thank you, sir, thank you!" The man hurried away.

Chan Ka Kiu, Li Er, and Zhang Dazui continued their patrol.

"Li Er, that suit guy didn't jaywalk, right?" Chan Ka Kiu couldn't help but ask.

Li Er admitted, "No, he didn't, but he did cross the street without looking at the traffic lights. I just wanted to bluff him a bit!"

Chan Ka Kiu and Zhang Dazui: "..."

Patrol officers weren't just there to pose. They had to maintain public order, public safety, and prevent and stop crimes. Checking IDs was a simple way to prevent crime. The suit guy had been looking around suspiciously, and Chan Ka Kiu naturally wanted to check him.

Li Er's dreams of getting rich had been shattered, and his mood was low. He had thought of many good ideas, like joining the entertainment industry, copying scripts to make movies, and getting rich, just like many other time travelers.

This morning, Li Er suddenly realized something was off. Chan Ka Kiu was here, which meant this timeline was different from others. This was a movie timeline, and if he copied a script and it turned into a real event, he could be dissected.

Moreover, Li Er had remembered Zhu Wanfang downstairs, who looked like the actress Faye Wong. This was a chaotic timeline, and Li Er became even more cautious.

If there were temporal police, and they found him, they might throw him into the Jurassic period. That wasn't a joke; he might never find another human to reproduce with.

Before leaving in the morning, Li Er was scolded by his superior for writing his name incorrectly, "Li Er" instead of "Li Er" (the correct traditional Chinese character for "two" is 貳, not 二).

Li Er suddenly remembered that the city used traditional Chinese characters. He could mostly read them, but reading and writing were different. He was so nervous that he couldn't even write the character "貳" for his name, and had to cheat by touching a two-yuan coin.

Li Er's situation was such that he couldn't even think about copying scripts; he was lucky if he didn't make mistakes in his reports.

...

"Robbery!"

"Robbery! Someone is robbing! Thief! He's taking the old lady's things!" A woman in her fifties fell to the ground and shouted loudly.

Chan Ka Kiu, Li Er, and Zhang Dazui quickly turned around. Chan Ka Kiu reacted the fastest and ran toward the sound.

Zhang Dazui and Li Er also ran over, but Li Er instinctively slowed down, letting Zhang Dazui take the lead.

Li Er saw a small, thin man running with a small cloth bag, while Chan Ka Kiu chased him with his characteristic wide-legged gait.

"Old lady, are you okay? Do you need an ambulance?" Li Er stopped in front of the victim and let Zhang Dazui continue the chase.

"I'm fine, I'm fine. Quickly, go chase my purse. My son sent me five hundred dollars, and if it's stolen, how will I live?" The old lady sat on the ground and wailed.

Li Er quickly checked and found that the old lady was not injured, just pushed over by the robber.

"Old lady, don't worry! Our colleague is chasing him! We'll get your money back!" Li Er reassured her, not wanting to chase the robber himself. What if the robber got desperate and pulled out a knife?

"Move, move! Get out of my way, or I'll stab you!" The robber, who had turned back, ran toward Li Er, holding a small knife.

Damn! Li Er's fears were realized.

Li Er quickly reached for his gun, but in his panic, he couldn't immediately open the holster. He had to pull out his baton from the other side of his waist.

"Move, or I'll kill you!" The robber shouted as he ran toward Li Er.

"Got it!" Li Er's face turned pale, and he quickly moved to the side, letting the robber pass. The robber, who was even more scared, was surprised by Li Er's reaction and ran even faster.

As the robber ran past Li Er, he sneered at him, seemingly mocking Li Er for being a coward. But Li Er suddenly stuck out his foot.

"Thud!" The robber, who was too focused on running, tripped and fell flat on his face, sliding a few meters before stopping.

Li Er quickly caught up, hit the robber on the back of the head with his baton, and the robber fainted. Li Er kicked the knife away and handcuffed the unconscious robber.

The old lady, who had been the victim, was even faster. She had already gotten up and retrieved her cloth bag, checking its contents.

"Thank God, thank Buddha, my money is all here!"

Li Er: "..."

Chan Ka Kiu and Zhang Dazui arrived, and Li Er noticed a tear in Chan Ka Kiu's police uniform on his abdomen.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, just a tear in the uniform, no skin damage," Chan Ka Kiu said nonchalantly.

"Good to catch him!" Zhang Dazui grinned, always eager to make a good impression.

Li Er called the police station on his radio.

"Ding! System activation!"

Li Er's eyes widened. He had been waiting for this for a long time. It was only fair that he got a system like other time travelers.

Indeed, life is full of joy and surprises.
