Chapter 8 of 10
Chapter 8

Gu Mo didn't know whether he felt fear or disgust, or perhaps... he was afraid of that disgust.
After all, it was really hard to tell—
Was it a direct feeling of fear, or simply fear because of the disgust...
Of course, he didn't want to discuss this meaningless question. Anyway, he absolutely didn't want to be touched by those things, even though he knew it was all his mental hallucination and imagination. Just thinking about that disgusting flower-like mouth and the various sticky liquids...
Damn! Even if it's fake, after such a disgusting experience, he would definitely not be able to eat for several days!
Today was already bad enough. He couldn't find that restaurant, and he didn't know if it was his fault. He would probably have to eat those ordinary, unappetizing foods... If he couldn't eat for several days, it would be like he was being driven to death...
"I finally understand why most mentally ill people's conditions get worse and worse..."
Gu Mo clenched his teeth and ran forward frantically. The monstrous creatures behind him were ferocious and relentless, their roars shaking the heart, and the black aura and oppressive pressure radiating from behind him made his hair stand on end.
Relatively speaking, he still knew that this was all a hallucination, but he still felt such immense pressure... It's easy to imagine how terrifying the nightmare must be for those with severe conditions, who completely accept their delusions as reality and have a thoroughly distorted worldview.
For them, it's like living in a completely broken and twisted world, full of real and tangible dangers.
And because everything comes from their own hearts and imaginations, there is no escape, no way to avoid it. They would gradually be driven mad under the increasing mental pressure.
—Would he end up like that in the future?
"Roar!!"
The low growl behind him was right next to him. Gu Mo, whose thoughts were somewhat scattered, instinctively turned his head and saw a huge, blood-red mouth looming over him, the flower-like mouthparts writhing, filled with sharp teeth and surging mucus...
Damn!
His face turned slightly green, and he felt so nauseated that his entire scalp tingled. Despite already being at his limit, his speed miraculously increased, and his feet seemed to leave a brief afterimage, allowing him to pull ahead by a body length.
—Just in time to let the abyssal mouth behind him bite into thin air!
In front of him was a railing. Without looking back, Gu Mo didn't slow down at all. He accelerated, ran, and jumped, grabbing the top of the railing and flipping over it. Inside was the school, but he didn't have time to think too much. After all, outside was wide open, and it would be impossible to avoid the chase on the wide road.
His feet landed steadily, and the slight impact was absorbed by a slight bend of his knees. He took a deep breath and ran again. Fortunately, he found that his physical strength seemed to be quite abundant, and he didn't feel tired at all, as if he could continue running for a while.
Maybe it's because of the adrenaline, he thought. It's like playing a VR game; when the information received is very realistic, it can already deceive the brain to some extent, causing the body to have a stress response.
The angry and urgent growls still came from behind, and the monstrous creatures were quickly closing the distance, despite the brief gap he had created—
The scent of a living being made them greedy and violent, unable to remain calm, and they desperately wanted to devour anything they could catch...
"Roar—!!"
Suddenly, more fierce roars came from ahead. Gu Mo, who was still running and paying attention to the creatures behind him, instinctively looked forward and was immediately shocked.
A black and a white fierce dog, not particularly large but with fur that seemed to glow with energy, appeared out of nowhere. Their momentum was astonishing, and they were no less formidable than the ferocious monsters, perhaps even more so.
However, they seemed to be on the opposite side, not with the monsters. The two dogs, like black and white lightning, rushed past Gu Mo and pounced on the monsters behind him, charging into the crowd with a clear target.
It was like a flash of lightning, so fast that it was beyond the human eye's ability to capture.
Gu Mo couldn't see what exactly happened, but he heard the continuous tearing sounds, followed by black blood splattering everywhere.
The monstrous creatures were torn apart, their limbs ripped off, and their bodies shattered...
Damn, where did these dogs come from?!
"Come over here!"
A low voice called out from ahead. Gu Mo, who was still in shock, turned around and saw a high school student with a cold and stern expression, wearing a dark blue high-collar coat and dark blue wide-legged pants, with a spiky short haircut, waving him over.
Without hesitation, Gu Mo quickly moved closer.
He had many questions, but at this moment, they weren't too important. With such disgusting monsters behind him, it didn't make much sense for his delusions to create another mysterious person.
In fact, Gu Mo felt a bit relieved—
