In the dimly lit cave, a group of people with stern expressions formed a circle, holding torches or flashlights, coldly guarding a beautiful woman in a black bodysuit with long, brown hair that was let loose.
The brown-haired woman knelt on the ground, her face filled with sorrow, looking around her with a mix of vigilance and despair, her eyes revealing a sense of helplessness and hopelessness.
"Tap tap tap!"
The sound of high heels tapping against the ground grew louder as it approached. The crowd parted to make way for a woman with a face that perfectly matched the Eastern aesthetic. She had long, straight black hair and a tall, slender figure. As she walked into the center, a young man with a cold expression and lifeless eyes closely followed her.
The black-haired woman stopped, scrutinizing the brown-haired woman for a moment before a smile appeared on her face. This small smile seemed to have a magical power, as if it brightened the entire cave.
"Kitty Pryde, from the 'X-Men' series, a mutant with the ability to phase through anything. In 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' she even demonstrated the incredible ability to travel through time and return to the past."
The black-haired woman's gaze roamed over Kitty Pryde as if she were a rare treasure, and she smiled. "It was worth the month I spent setting up my network and even bringing Jason over... He has the mutant ability to suppress all other mutants' powers, like the mutant 'Rictor' from the X-Men. With your powers suppressed, you're just an ordinary little girl now."
As the black-haired woman spoke, she nodded to a man in black standing behind Kitty. The man, who was clearly Jason, crossed his arms and nodded slightly.
The black-haired woman spoke in Chinese, but Kitty seemed to not understand the language, only looking at her with a puzzled and frightened expression. The black-haired woman, sensing the futility of the language barrier, sighed and waved her hand casually. "Kill her. With such a powerful ability, she should drop a decent 'treasure' when she dies, right?"
As the black-haired woman spoke, she didn't notice that when she mentioned "return to the past," the lifeless eyes of the bodyguard standing behind her suddenly lit up.
Return... to the past?!
If she could... return to the past, then many regrets could be changed, right? If she could return to the past, maybe she could save what was lost...
The young man's eyes brightened. Finally, he gritted his teeth and pulled out a glass ball-sized, continuously glowing orb from his pocket. In the center of the orb, a bottle-like pattern could be faintly seen, which was quite peculiar.
The young man crushed the orb directly, and the pattern inside turned into a beam of light that entered his body. Then he rushed forward, pulling out a dagger from his waist, and before anyone could react, he stabbed it into Kitty Pryde's heart, twisting it ninety degrees to hasten her death!
The beautiful brown-haired woman, with her heart pierced, convulsed a few times and lost all signs of life, her pupils dilating... However, after her death, her body disintegrated into fragments of light and scattered, leaving behind a glass ball of the same size, but inside it was a hazy mist.
The young man didn't hesitate. Although it was a moment of impulse, there was no turning back now. He grabbed the orb and crushed it, and in an instant, the shattered orb emitted countless distorted beams of light that enveloped his entire body, even distorting his form and voice.
"Miss."
The young man's eyes finally showed some light as he looked at the black-haired woman. "You saved my life, and with your help, I avenged my greatest enemy. I am deeply grateful. For three years, I have followed you, serving as your strongest shield and barrier. Even with my ability of immortality, I nearly died four times. I believe I have repaid some of your kindness."
The young man's voice was steady and calm, but his eyes showed a hint of excitement and agitation. "The ability to return to the past has a probability of less than one in ten thousand, which you should know. So I used a lucky potion I obtained by chance to increase the odds, even by a thousandth."
The distortion around the young man grew more severe, and large patches of shadows cast eerie shadows on him, even blurring his face.
"This time, if I succeed, I will have the chance to rectify my past regrets... If I fail, even if you forgive me, your father will not let me off for disobeying orders."
The young man chuckled softly. "But no matter what, I have no regrets. After avenging my enemy, I had no reason to live. I followed you only to repay your kindness, so..."
Before the young man could finish, the distortion around him suddenly intensified, and then, despite his claim of immortality, he exploded into a cloud of blood mist, with bone fragments and flesh splattering everywhere, making the already dark cave even more sinister.
"Miss? It seems he couldn't harmonize with Kitty Pryde's treasure and exploded. Even with immortality, he couldn't withstand the backlash of a failed fusion."
A man in black whispered beside her.
The black-haired woman remained silent, standing still for a long time before sighing and waving her hand. "Alright, I understand. A month's effort was wasted... What a pity... Let's go!"
The cave was plunged back into darkness as the shadows moved. After an unknown amount of time, the scattered flesh on the ground began to emit a faint glow, then transformed from "matter" into "light," just like the previous Kitty Pryde, and gradually faded, leaving the cave dark again as if nothing had happened...
