Chapter 7

In the end, I didn’t go back to the room that day. I spent the night with open eyes in the corner of the dormitory’s shared bathroom. I figured no one would find me here. I let out a sigh as I closed my eyes. Evan showed up in my mind. His clothes fell to the sound of water dripping, and after kissing me as if wanting to eat me, Evan showed a bright smile.

The taste that lasted a long time felt infinitely hot. It was because I haven’t been able to take care of my desires, since I lived together in the dorms with Evan. On top of that, I kissed the person I like. It wasn’t weird that my body reacted that instant.

I was filled with a sense of immorality at the impossible thought of doing something like that with Evan, using Hail Verde’s body. I tried breaking away from the original novel, from the role of a yandere top, so this can’t happen.

I splashed cold water on my face to wake me up from thoughts of things I shouldn’t do. My reflection in the bathroom mirror was ghastly. My firm body was still the same, but because of lack of sleep for several days, the area below my eyes were sunken and my face was bright red. Even my dazzling silver hair I was proud of looked somewhat dry.

By the way, what face should I make tomorrow when I see Evan? I could only let out a sigh. I crouched down on the tiled floor brimming with cold air. I gathered my cold fingertips towards the air entering the open window in hopes that it would cool this heat.

“Sighhhh.”

“What happened? You’ve just been sighing.”

‘On top of that, you’re not together with Evan today? He has student council work today?’ At his question, I absentmindedly shook my head a few times, and chewed the vegetables in my mouth. Carmen poked his salad with a fork. He tried raising the lettuce a few times, but then lowered his fork with a frown.

“I hate veggies! I wanna eat meat.”

I silently swallowed my salad, ignoring Carmen who was complaining about his food like a child. It would have been better if it was meat. I can’t digest this right now either. I ate my food little by little with difficulty, but Carmen brought up Evan again.

“Come to think of it, what’d Evan say?”

“…About what?”

“I asked you yesterday, right? What I did wrong to him.”

I shook my head without saying anything. I didn’t want to think of talking to Evan. Hearing his name in the morning, the confusion that barely subsided grew. I quietly put down my fork. I felt like throwing up.

“Hey, you don’t look so good today.”

I had a slight fever. I have a feeling it was cause I stayed up all night in the bathroom yesterday. The occasional pouring of water on my head also played a part in that.

But the thing I’m most worried about above all was seeing Evan during lecture. My head throbbed, remembering that Evan sits next to me. Carmen nudged me with his elbow. I staggered a whole lot at his movements that would usually seem light. Carmen, who hit me and was even more surprised than I was, fussed about.

“Oh my god. Does it hurt anywhere? I’ve never seen you hurt before. Let’s go to the infirmary, the infirmary.”

“It’s fine.”

“But, you don’t look so good right now?”

At that moment, a pale, beautiful hand suddenly popped out from behind me. The hand on my forehead was cold.

“Looks like you have a bit of a fever.”

I trembled at the breath I felt on my nape. I heard the voice I didn’t want to hear the most. When I turned my head back a bit, I saw a familiar side profile from up close.

When I saw him hugging me from behind, I became conscious of his lips for no reason. I swallowed.

“…Evan.”

“You should take a break from school today.”

“I’m really okay. It’s not serious.”

“I’m not okay, Hail.”

His whisper tickled my ear. His moving lips slightly touched my earlobe. When the hand resting on my forehead wrapped around my shoulders, I vividly recalled what he did in my dream.

“But…”

“You there, tell the professor we can’t go today.”

“Huh? O-Oh, sure.”

Carmen, who froze at Evan’s sudden appearance, quickly nodded. But I absolutely couldn’t follow the conversation with my head in a daze. As that was happening, he helped me get up, and grabbed my wrist.

When I came back to my senses from the clear, outside air, I remembered what Evan said just now.

“You said… us?”

I stood still. When I paused, Evan, who’d been pulling on me, was also half-forced to stop from my strength. I told Evan as he looked back at me curiously.

“You don’t need to look after me.”

“I wanna do it, so I will.”

I think that’ll backfire, instead. Just thinking of touching Evan right this moment made my fever go up. Not realizing this was happening, Evan persistently said he would take care of me. I’m not confident I’d be able to hold back if I’m left alone with Evan. I removed my arm from his grasp, and the moment I was about to dissuade him.

“I’m really o–”

“Was it disgusting?”

Evan’s low-pitched voice didn’t make me think it was his always pure and beautiful voice. Like the howl of a starving beast. I stopped instinctively pushing Evan away. I was covered in cold sweat.

Evan slowly turned back towards me. The more of his face I saw, the more anxious I grew. Evan was smiling like usual. The warm sun shone above him. His warm smile that didn’t suit his cold voice just earlier gave me slight chills.

“…What?”

“I said, were you disgusted?”

His red lips with a blood clot looked bad. Evan’s always calm and still voice trembled for the first time. His hand holding me tightened. His eyes, along with his still picturesque smile, rippled with unknown things.

“Were you that disgusted with kissing me?”

Disgusted? Impossible. The disgusting one is me, lusting after you. I violently shook my head. Probably because he was slightly relieved when I shook my head with my eyes firmly closed, the strength he held my wrist with loosened a bit.

“Then, where were you last night?”

“Huh…?”

“You weren’t in Carmen Hymond’s room.”

“Uhm, in the shared bathroom…”

“Bathroom? Why?”

I cowered at his voice brimming with doubt. Cause I was out of breath after I kissed you. I couldn’t say it like that. I don’t want Evan to despise me. When I hesitated to answer, Evan hurried me.

“You hated seeing my face so much you’d spend the night there?”

“N-No, that’s not…”

“Then, why’d you bite me and then run away?”

That really hurt.

His added words pricked my conscience. Evan’s pupils clearly rippled. Evan’s hair swayed in the gentle breeze. At the sight of Evan, looking delicate like the main bottom with the obvious wound on his lip, I couldn’t control my mouth.

“It was my first kiss! So, I didn’t know how to breathe… And I was surprised… as well…”

Unlike the first time I shouted loudly, an overwhelming amount of shame surged through me as my words trailed off. I quietly raised my hands, covering my face that was as ripe as a tomato.

I shivered from the shame, but I didn’t receive a reply from Evan. When I looked up in wonder, I saw Evan touch the corner of his lips with a blank look on his face.

“…I didn’t know it was your first kiss.”

I clearly heard his low mutter. Hail did play around a bit, but he lived a life of debauchery even in the original…! It somehow felt a bit unfair.

Evan licked his lips without saying anything for a while. Standing there blankly until I called out his name, Evan covered his mouth with one hand.

I saw a slightly raised corner of his mouth between his slender fingers. He looked awkwardly unlike Evan, who always smiled.

Instead of firmly grabbing my wrist, Evan gently grabbed my hand. Only at his careful touch was I relieved. The Evan from earlier honestly scared me. My balance shook for a bit just as my tension eased.

When my body leaned slightly, Evan quickly reached out his hand to me as if something big had happened. His grip was strong, grabbing me as I wobbled. I was puzzled at the unbelievable strength that came from his small body.

“S-Sorry! I just got a little dizzy, so you don’t have to help me.”

“Hand.”

Instead of saying it hurt, I looked at his beautiful hand extended in front of me once, and then at Evan, not knowing what he meant when he said ‘hand.’

“We can’t have you falling again.”

We’re holding hands? I carefully placed my hand on top of his palm. He walked in tandem with me, holding on tightly as if caught on a line. His arm firmly grasping my waist were tighter than they seemed, so that I couldn’t escape.

I felt the softness of my bed. The cold sweat covering my body wet the soft blanket. It really didn’t hurt so much that he had to really skip class. I slowly blinked my eyes, and heard a voice.

“How are you feeling?”

“I’m fine.”

My voice cracked, but it was better than earlier. Evan stopped me from getting up. It was only yesterday when I shared a deep kiss with a friend, but now, we’re all alone in the room as if nothing happened. The guilt and weak excitement at this fact mixed with my slight fever, making me sweat heavily. My damp shirt clinging to me felt icky.

“Thank goodness.”

Evan quietly muttered. He then rolled up his sleeves, and grabbed a wet towel. His slender forearms hidden underneath his shirt were revealed. I was filled with surprise at seeing him supporting me up with forearms. He looked weak, but was stronger than I thought.

“But, it’s better to wipe away your sweat. And change your clothes.”

I didn’t want to let out an awful voice, so I quietly nodded. Evan sat on the bed. His hand touched the buttons on my shirt. He unbuttoned one or two things suffocating my body. His pale fingers brushed against the collar of my shirt. I came to my senses at the cool air that touched my chest.

If ever you’re reading this on any site aside from wordpress, it’s probably been scraped by bots. Go to blislaifu.wordpress.com to actually read where it comes from.

I’ll be honest, I find this whole chasing thing adorable af, but also… Hail… You clearly like Evan, stop running away. It just makes him even more yandere. Just give up lol. But then again, he’s probably scared of things going the way it did in the original novel and that he might accidentally hurt Evan. I just want more chapters ughhhhhh.

But hey, at least they get together in like… chapter 20 or more. Forgot which one exactly.
