Later, I found out that not only had I called Monkey, but also Huang Jie, Zheng Wu, Binzi, and even people like Yang Zecheng and Li Baiyu. Of course, I wasn't a pervert. Ma Jie told me that when I called these people, it was often followed by phrases like "Charge for me" or "Kill for me."
"Of course, when you called Monkey, it was different from the others..."
"How different?" I was a bit nervous. I couldn't possibly have a hidden tendency for gay relationships, could I?
"You mostly called Monkey to ask for money."
I breathed a sigh of relief. "I told you, I'm only interested in women."
"You called so many people, but you never called my name once." Ma Jie seemed a bit aggrieved.
I laughed. "Why would I call you? You never go with us to fight!"
"Then call me next time!" Ma Jie rubbed his hands together.
"Sure." I agreed casually. But I knew Ma Jie was a coward and might not come even if I called him.
If I hadn't been in the dorm, I wouldn't have known I had a habit of talking in my sleep. Since I called so many names, Ma Jie didn't find it strange that I called Lin Ke'er and Wang Yao. But only I knew something was off. Calling Wang Yao was understandable since I thought about her every day, but why was I calling Lin Ke'er? Could I still have feelings for her?
Heaven, I despise womanizers the most!
Finally, the second class ended, and Ma Jie followed me to the corridor. The prelude to the radio calisthenics music played, and many students came out of the classrooms. Some went downstairs to do the exercises, while others stayed in the corridor. Yang Zecheng and Li Baiyu also came out and gathered around me, chatting. I looked for Monkey and Huang Jie but didn't see them. I called them and found out they were still at the internet cafe.
"Aren't you coming to watch the show?"
"No, I got into an argument with a guy from Hubei." Monkey said, "Besides, I've seen Wang Yao fight so many times, it's nothing special!"
I had just hung up when I saw Zheng Wu coming over. I was surprised and said, "Why are you wearing your battle gear again?"
"Of course, for such a formal occasion, you have to dress formally."
"..." Your clothes have quite a few functions."
There were quite a few people left in the corridor, about fifty or sixty. I didn't expect the publicity to be so effective; everyone looked excited. Suddenly, someone said, "They're coming!"
I focused and saw Wang Yao indeed come out of a classroom, surrounded by over a dozen girls, each one dressed up beautifully, like blooming flowers. Today, the Thirteen Roses were all present, and under Wang Yao's lead, they looked very impressive.
Ma Jie tugged at my arm, almost drooling. "They're so beautiful! Any one of them would be a blessing to have as a wife!" Yang Zecheng and the others also praised her. Men love to watch beautiful women at any age.
Zheng Wu chuckled. "None of them are as pretty as my girlfriend."
"You're just bragging." "Show us your girlfriend then." The crowd around us was full of ridicule.
As we were talking, Wang Yao and her group approached. We were standing right at the entrance to Yi Zhen's class.
Wang Yao didn't even look at me and went straight into the classroom. The other girls greeted me, some calling me "brother-in-law," and then followed Wang Yao inside. Lin Ke'er gave me a shy glance and followed them in.
"Why isn't your second wife talking to you?" Zheng Wu suddenly nudged me.
"Brother, don't say that..." I felt a headache coming on.
After the Thirteen Roses all went in, everyone rushed over, surrounding Yi Zhen's classroom. Some stood at the door, some leaned on the windows. The best viewing spot was, of course, the classroom door. I, Zheng Wu, Yang Zecheng, and others stood there confidently, and no one dared to fight for our spots. Ma Jie, benefiting from my presence, also got a spot at the door, his head peeking out from under my arm, watching with great interest.
There weren't many people in the classroom. Yi Zhen was sitting in the last row, his face pale. He didn't go to do the exercises, clearly having received the message or been intimidated by Wang Yao, "Don't leave after the second class." For some troublemakers, such a message was like a royal decree.
Wang Yao walked up to Yi Zhen and didn't waste any words. She slapped him directly. Yi Zhen didn't dare to fight back and just lowered his head. Wang Yao grabbed his hair and slapped him a few more times, and blood immediately came out of his nose. Wang Yao kicked him, and Yi Zhen fell to the ground with a loud "bang," chair and all.
"How dare you mess with my people?" Wang Yao said, kicking Yi Zhen in the face again.
The whole process was smooth and fluid, a perfect example of violent aesthetics. Yang Zecheng and the others were impressed, "This girl is fierce. I wonder who will be able to tame her in the future." "Yeah, she's so fierce, she must be great in bed." I glanced at the speaker, a troublemaker who had fought with us before. His lecherous eyes made me angry, and I elbowed him hard in the chest.
"What are you doing?" he shouted.
"Don't talk nonsense." I glared at him.
"What's it to you?" He was still angry and tried to hit me, but Zheng Wu grabbed him and threw him out of the crowd.
Facing Zheng Wu, he dared not speak but left in a huff.
I looked at Zheng Wu gratefully, and he said, "Fantasizing about my sister-in-law, you deserve it!"
I felt another headache coming on.
Wang Yao was still beating Yi Zhen, and a few of the Thirteen Roses joined in. Of course, they didn't have much strength, and Yi Zhen, though not fighting back, could still say a few tough words, "Wang Yao, you're too arrogant. Do you think no one can handle you?"
"Ha, I am arrogant. Go ahead and find someone to handle me. You can even call your rich father."
Wang Yao grabbed Yi Zhen's shoulder and kneed him in the stomach. Yi Zhen coughed loudly, and Wang Yao continued to knee him. She was wearing a black mini skirt, and with each movement, a bit of her thigh was visible, though it was always within a safe range. It still greatly satisfied the crowd's visual desires, and I could hear several people swallowing their saliva. I was so angry I wanted to gouge out their eyes.
"Enough, Wang Yao!" a voice suddenly said.
Wang Yao stopped and looked at a girl in the corner. This girl was plain-looking and dressed simply. She ran over to help Yi Zhen, turning to Wang Yao and saying, "That's too much!"
"Wow, a protector?" Wang Yao laughed. "Do you like Yi Zhen? If so, I advise you to give up on him. He's a scumbag."
"That's none of your business. Hitting people is wrong. I'll report you to the teacher!"
Wang Yao and the others laughed, and we outside the classroom couldn't help but laugh too. The girl's face turned red, but she still shielded Yi Zhen with her hands.
"Do you know why I'm hitting him?" Wang Yao asked.
"I know, but Yi Zhen isn't that kind of person. You must have misunderstood him!"
Wang Yao turned to Zhang Xuan, "This is your long-lost sister? You two have the same brain?"
Zhang Xuan blushed and said, "Wang Yao, don't mock me. This sister, you're blinded. Yi Zhen isn't as good as you think!"
"Are you just bullying him because you're many?" the girl was still angry.
Wang Yao laughed, "Okay, girl, move aside. I'm not done yet."
"No, if you want to hit, hit me!" The girl lay on top of Yi Zhen.
Wang Yao didn't say anything for a while, then said, "Yi Zhen, since someone is protecting you, I'll let you off this time. If you harass my sister again, it won't be just a beating." She then walked out, and a group of girls followed her. We at the door quickly made way, and Wang Yao walked past me with a cold face, making my heart ache. The other girls winked at me, which somewhat comforted my wounded heart.
In the classroom, the girl tried to help Yi Zhen up, but he pushed her away.
"None of your business!"
The girl sat on the ground, staring at Yi Zhen in shock.
Damn, what a scumbag. But I didn't intervene, just shook my head and walked away. This girl had brought it upon herself for liking someone like Yi Zhen. The show was over, but everyone stayed, chatting in the corridor about the fight. They all praised Wang Yao for standing up for her sister, and I felt proud too.
Taking this opportunity, I pulled a few people aside and, like last night, used flattery and provocation to convince them to join us in attacking Ding Sheng. So far, everything was going smoothly. At this rate, it wouldn't take long to gather all the tough guys. I also asked Ma Jie to help find anyone willing to join us. Ma Jie, being an older student and having followed the Nine Princes before, knew many small-time troublemakers. Bringing them in would complete our group.
Of course, I couldn't tell these small-time troublemakers about our plan too early. They were just pawns, cannon fodder, and extras. They just needed to fight with us, so there was no need for them to know too much, and they might accidentally leak it.
Ma Jie, doing his first task for me, was very serious. By lunchtime, he had brought over a dozen small-time troublemakers, all former followers of the Nine Princes. These people had no great ambitions, just loved to follow the more vicious ones to bully classmates.
After reviewing them, I agreed to let them join and handed them over to Zheng Wu for training. Zheng Wu was good at fighting and had once chased thirty of the Nine Princes' people by himself. So these small-time troublemakers admired him and were willing to follow his orders, feeling proud to say, "I'm following Brother Wu now!" The school was a place where the strong ruled.
To be honest, I only really trusted Zheng Wu, who I met on the night the Nine Princes cleared the dorm. I trusted him more than Yang Zecheng and the others, not because Zheng Wu was better, but because he had the label of "Monkey's friend's friend," just like me. Monkey was like a golden brand; anyone who was his friend or his friend's friend was bound to be good.
Monkey once said something that stuck with me: "I don't have many friends, just thirty or forty, but each one is willing to give their life for the other." Listen to that, how powerful. Thirty or forty friends like Binzi and Mao Mao, and he still says it's not many! I think that would be enough to dominate a city.
In the afternoon, I received a text from Lin Ke'er: "Can we continue our conversation from last night? Is there something between you and Wang Yao?"
I quickly replied: "Nothing's going on."
I followed Monkey's advice; even if we were to confront each other, it wasn't now.
I had just put down my phone when the door to our classroom was pushed open, and Zhang Xuan shouted, "Zuo Fei, Wang Yao has been stabbed!"
My mind exploded with shock.
