Chapter 23 of 100

Chapter 23

3 min read652 words

Having returned home, I immediately started thinking about which skill to choose—before that, I decided to determine which dungeon to challenge next.

It would be more efficient to acquire skills suitable for that dungeon.

"Well, considering my current level, the next challenge should be a C-rank dungeon."

Among C-rank dungeons, the one with the lowest difficulty is recommended for solo players at level 300.

With my current level, it should be more than manageable.

So, I began searching for a suitable place among the C-rank dungeons within range from my home.

When choosing a dungeon, I have one rule:

I try to avoid places where monsters use status-altering attacks.

For a solo player, status effects are the worst enemy. If I get paralyzed, I could be defeated by a much weaker opponent.

In fact, it might be easier to handle dozens of monsters attacking simultaneously.

While a high mental strength can provide some resistance, it's not foolproof.

I can endure the hypnosis from the Harpy, the boss of the Dream Dungeon, but I can't predict what C-rank enemies might do.

That said, there are skills that provide resistance to status effects, but I feel resistant to acquiring such defensive skills at this point.

I've already invested SP in skills that aren't directly related to combat, like dungeon teleportation, identification, and item box.

I'd rather choose skills that directly benefit combat.

With these considerations in mind, the appropriate dungeon becomes clear.

"Kenzaki Dungeon—this is it."

C-rank dungeon—[Kenzaki Dungeon].

The recommended level for solo players is 500, which is a bit high.

The monsters that appear are diverse, but they all engage in direct combat, making it an ideal dungeon for honing combat skills.

With the target dungeon decided, the next step is to choose the right skills.

I want to select skills that will be useful in the Kenzaki Dungeon.

My combat style is basically hit-and-run.

I focus on dodging rather than enduring enemy attacks.

Therefore, I don't need to take Endurance, which increases my durability.

This means I need skills that boost my attack power, like Might, and my speed, like High Speed Movement.

I'll raise Might to LV4 and High Speed Movement from LV3 to LV4.

I've used 1400 SP, leaving me with 910 SP.

If I want to quickly improve my strength, I should acquire Swordsmanship or Dagger Mastery...

"To be honest, I haven't decided which one to use as my main weapon yet."

I currently use a dagger, but it wasn't always like that.

When I first became an adventurer, I used a dagger but switched to a longsword due to its low attack power.

However, after a while, I obtained an excellent dagger as a bonus reward from the Dream Dungeon, and I've been using it ever since.

Depending on my future choices, either Swordsmanship or Dagger Mastery could become redundant.

There's no need to acquire them now.

"Given that, should I use the remaining SP on Detection or Stealth? Or should I level up the skills I already have? ...I'll reconsider after actually challenging the dungeon."

For now, I've decided on my strategy and how to allocate my SP.

The next challenge will be my first C-rank dungeon, and I'm already getting excited.
