Chapter 4

The next day.

I was looking at the list of dungeons I had already cleared, thinking about where to go.

To be honest, if it’s just about efficiency, the Yūnagi Dungeon is the best.

There, it’s possible to clear it in about 2 hours, and you can level up by 5. If you do 5 laps in a day, that’s a 25-level increase.

However, there is one problem.

The Yūnagi Dungeon is one of the D-rank dungeons with abundant labyrinth resources, making it quite profitable and popular among adventurers. I was one of them.

Therefore, outside the dungeon, there are many buyback shops, and it’s quite bustling.

With so many people around, there’s a risk that someone might witness me disappearing when I activate the dungeon transfer.

I’d rather avoid that.

In that case, a place with fewer people, like the Shion Dungeon, would be better...

There, it’s possible to clear it in about an hour, and you can level up by 1.

Compared to the Yūnagi Dungeon, the efficiency is somewhat lower.

Moreover, the labyrinth resources in the Shion Dungeon are hardly profitable, and I’d rather avoid it if possible.

"Then, this one it is."

The D-rank dungeon, the Yume Dungeon.

It has a higher level than other D-rank dungeons, and it takes nearly 3 hours to clear.

In return, the level-up upon completion is 7, which is relatively high. Additionally, the magic stones you receive can be sold for about 10,000 yen.

If you do 3 laps, you can level up by 21 and earn 30,000 yen.

Another characteristic of the Yume Dungeon is that the experience points gained from the monsters along the way are low, and the selling price of the labyrinth resources obtained inside is also low.

What would normally be a disadvantage is, for me now, a desirable feature—meaning, it’s not very popular among adventurers and is less likely to attract attention.

"It’s settled, then."

After finishing my preparations, I took the train to the Yume Dungeon, which is about an hour away.

When I arrived at the Yume Dungeon, it was as expected, not very popular.

There was only one dungeon manager at the gate, checking the levels of adventurers before they enter.

To prevent accidents inside the dungeon, there are level restrictions for D-rank and higher dungeons.

For the Yume Dungeon, the solo level requirement is 70, and the average party level requirement is 50 or higher.

I hid a little away from the gate to avoid being seen by the dungeon manager and used the dungeon transfer.

The transfer distance is 20 meters, and the activation time is 60 seconds, which is 3 times the normal duration.

After a minute of silence, the skill activated successfully, and I was inside the Yume Dungeon.

"Well, let’s go."

I started moving, recalling the memory of when I cleared this dungeon about two months ago.

The monsters that appear in the Yume Dungeon, excluding the boss, are three types: Goblins, Kobolds, and Gray Wolves, with the latter being the strongest.

However, since none of the monsters have attacks that cause status abnormalities, it’s a relatively easy dungeon for solo players.

I held my short sword in one hand and cautiously walked through the dungeon.

This short sword is called the "Yume Short Sword," which I obtained from this dungeon previously.

It’s an excellent weapon, only obtainable as a reward for defeating the boss on your first solo attempt, and I’ve been using it ever since.

"Here they come."

I directed my short sword towards the direction where I sensed the monsters.

Then, three Gray Wolves, characterized by their gray fur, appeared.

They attack with well-coordinated teamwork, making them quite troublesome...

"...Too slow."

I dodged the Gray Wolves’ attacks and immediately swung my short sword to deal damage.

The last time I cleared this dungeon, it took some effort, but this time, my level has increased significantly, so they were no match for me.

Just by leveling up and increasing my stats, I can feel such growth.

While skill in combat is certainly important, in this world’s level system, raising your level is the most crucial.

I defeated the Gray Wolves in about a minute and continued on.

I avoided battles with the monsters along the way as much as possible and quickly made my way to the boss room.

Fortunately, no one was fighting the boss at the moment.

When I entered the boss room, the entrance closed.

It won’t open again until the boss is defeated.

If someone had challenged the boss before me, this waiting time could be quite troublesome.

In any case, I need to focus on the boss now.

The boss of the Yume Dungeon is a Harpy, a half-bird, half-human monster with a woman’s face.

Its characteristic is that it sings a lullaby to make you sleepy, but it’s not a significant threat as it can be resisted with determination.

The real trouble is that it mostly stays in the air, only coming down to attack, making it difficult to attack from the ground.

The last time, it took quite a while to defeat it because of this.

But this time, it should be easier.

To avoid the same problem, I acquired a new skill after that.

That skill is, simply put, beginner magic.

It allows me to cast four elemental spells: fire, water, wind, and earth.

The power isn’t very strong, but it’s a valuable means of ranged attack.

"So, let’s get started. Fireball!"

I repeatedly cast magic at the Harpy in the air.

When the Harpy, tired of being on the defensive, tried to counterattack, I timed it and swung my short sword.

With almost no effort, I successfully defeated the Harpy.
