Chapter 5

Xiao Sheng opened his eyes again and, as always, found himself standing on a thousand-layered stone staircase. Looking back, he saw an endless abyss of darkness behind him. Looking ahead, the end of the thousand-layered stone staircase led to a grand, ancient, and majestic hall. Above the main door hung a plaque with the three large characters “Jialuo Hall” inscribed on it, which continuously emitted a variety of elusive colors, as if it could draw a person’s soul in and completely devour it.

Even though he had seen this countless times, the feeling of awe remained every time he returned. Xiao Sheng steadied himself and began to climb the steps. After walking up the thousand-layered stone staircase, he stepped over the threshold and entered the hall. Instantly, a vast and boundless space appeared before him.

It was extremely wide, extremely high, and extremely grand, making anyone who stood inside the hall feel insignificant. When Xiao Sheng first entered, the stark contrast between himself and the hall had been so shocking that it made his scalp tingle and almost stopped his breathing.

But now, with so much experience, Xiao Sheng could finally remain calm and composed. He looked up and saw that the entire hall was bathed in a gentle light. The source of the light was a huge gemstone, about three meters in diameter, embedded in the center of the ceiling. This gemstone, like a miniature sun, illuminated every corner of the hall at all times.

Above the ceiling, centered around the giant gemstone, countless constellations were intricately carved. Some of the larger constellations were connected by lines of varying thickness, showing their trajectories in the universe, forming countless overlapping circles.

However, none of these constellations were known to humans or could be observed with any tools. This added to the hall’s mysterious and unpredictable aura.

Directly below the giant gemstone was a throne with an ancient and ornate design, exuding a sense of majesty. Five large mirrors, each about three meters high and two meters wide, slowly rotated around the throne. The images within the mirrors changed constantly, showing countless scenes.

Xiao Sheng, with a solemn expression, straightened his clothes and walked to the throne, slowly turning to sit down.

Although the throne was ornate and majestic, to be honest, sitting on it was not comfortable at all. It was not designed for comfort but rather as a symbol, hinting that the person who sat on it must have a certain level of awareness.

Xiao Sheng habitually raised his left arm and glanced at his wrist. The wooden bracelet that he had never taken off was now gone. But Xiao Sheng was not concerned. He knew that the bracelet had not truly disappeared; it was just temporarily invisible.

With a light sigh, Xiao Sheng focused his mind and placed his right hand on the armrest of the throne. Immediately, the armrest glowed with a faint blue light. The five mirrors that were rotating around the throne suddenly stopped.

On the mirror directly facing the throne, a map appeared. It showed the maps of the Southern Song, Jin, and the grasslands. Below the map, two lines of text were displayed.

Map Exploration Degree: 60%. Space-Time Distortion Rate: 80%. Related resources have been recorded and are available for purchase. Space-Time Energy Reserve: 300 points.

The map exploration degree referred to the portion of the parallel world that Xiao Sheng had illuminated. The larger the area illuminated, the higher the exploration degree, and the more space-time energy he would receive.

The space-time distortion rate referred to the degree to which Xiao Sheng had altered the trajectory of the parallel universe through his actions. The greater the change, the more energy he would receive.

Related resources were unique to each parallel universe. Once inside a parallel universe, one had complete freedom of action. There were no system-assigned tasks or threats of being eliminated for failing to complete tasks. However, everything had to be explored and accomplished on one's own.

After each exploration and return to Jialuo Hall, one could spend energy points to purchase resources.

However, these resources were not cheap. So far, Xiao Sheng had entered no fewer than ten parallel universes, but he had only purchased two resources.

The first was a cultivation technique that could produce energy as powerful as the sun—The Ripple Immortal Dao.

The second was the Emperor's Fist, symbolizing the Southern Dipper. It was known that the Northern Dipper governs death, while the Southern Dipper governs life; life and death transform, like the phoenix rising from the ashes. Therefore, this Emperor's Fist was named the Supreme Star Phoenix Fist.

Apart from these two cultivation techniques, Xiao Sheng had not purchased any other resources.

Space-time energy was the most important thing in Jialuo Hall. It was needed to enter and leave parallel universes, purchase resources, and create a training ground where one day equals one year for intense cultivation. If one did not want to spend time cultivating, they could choose to be directly infused and strengthened, which required even more energy.

Therefore, while having energy points was not everything, not having them was absolutely unacceptable.

Before entering this parallel universe, Xiao Sheng had spent all the energy points he had saved due to a special reason, leaving him penniless. Now, with 300 energy points, he could finally alleviate his immediate financial crisis.

Xiao Sheng nodded, feeling quite satisfied with the results of his exploration in the parallel universe. However, the greatest gain this time was the imperial aura he obtained after killing Wanyan Honglie and Temujin.

Xiao Sheng lifted his head and waved his right hand. The crystal immediately reappeared in his palm.

He held it up and examined it closely. The crystal was a hexahedron, with a base that held it steady and allowed it to rotate freely. On a previously blank surface, a dragon shape now faintly appeared, writhing and moving within the small space.

This dragon had a unique appearance, with two long, blood-red whiskers. It was the imperial aura from Wanyan Honglie.

Legend had it that the founding emperor of the Jin Dynasty, Wanyan Aguda, was the reincarnation of a red-whiskered dragon. After a hundred years of succession, the imperial aura had weakened, and the country's fate was about to end. Therefore, those who sat on the throne were all incompetent and昏庸的君主。
