"Teacher, it's fine, just two thugs. Thanks for your help this time," Lin Mu thanked.
Shang Zhicheng, however, frowned deeply, pointing to the overturned noodle soup on the table: "Did you start it first?"
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow: "They wanted to harm me. If I didn't act first, should I wait to be hit before I could fight back?"
Shang Zhicheng, displeased, said: "Even if they were wrong first, you can't hit people! If something happens, can't you call the police or the teacher? I don't believe they would dare to hit you in front of me! Besides, it takes two to tango. If you don't provoke them, would they cause trouble for you?"
Lin Mu was speechless. His homeroom teacher, perhaps due to being a teacher for too long, was thinking too naively, or perhaps because he hadn't experienced it himself, he didn't take it seriously.
"Teacher, you came, and they naturally backed off. But you can't protect me forever. In the end, I have to solve this problem myself!"
Shang Zhicheng didn't expect Lin Mu to talk back. He felt a bit angry at this student who wasn't good at studies: "Solve it! Your solution is to fight? As a student, you should focus on your studies. By fighting, you only attract more trouble from these young hooligans. You might win once, but they will seek revenge. Take a step back, and the sky will be wider. Listen to me!"
Lin Mu found it annoying. Although the other person meant well, forcing his way of handling things on him only made him feel irritated.
You are the teacher, and in normal situations, taking a step back means no one will push you to the brink.
You tell me to endure, but how? Should I trade my dignity for their mercy?
Since they didn't see eye to eye, Lin Mu responded a few times and then left.
Shang Zhicheng, seeing that Lin Mu didn't appreciate his good intentions, felt unhappy. The little bit of goodwill he had for Lin Mu completely disappeared.
Lin Mu walked to a nearby bookstore, looked through the shelves, picked up a book titled "A Plain Explanation of Song History," and went to the counter to pay.
Chang Qiankun had already left. The store owner, Old Chen, looked at Lin Mu, collected the money, and suddenly whispered: "Do you know a guy named Chang Qiankun? Be careful of him in the future!"
Lin Mu looked at him in surprise, thinking about the malicious looks Chang Qiankun had given him and the events of today, he had some suspicions.
"Thanks, boss, I'll be careful!"
Old Chen chuckled and replied: "You have potential, keep writing. In the future, you won't be worse off than those who only get into third or second-tier universities!"
Lin Mu had earned a lot of money from the sales of "Martial Arts Stories" over the past two months. Old Chen had been paying attention to him, which is why he texted Shang Zhicheng to come and help earlier.
Back at school, Lin Mu saw Chang Qiankun avoiding his gaze, confirming his suspicions.
Not bothering to pay attention to him, Lin Mu opened the book he had just bought and started reading.
Although he could exchange for novels and other skills from Earth, the two Earths had significant differences. Lin Mu was now trying to earn money by submitting articles while also understanding this world.
History, culture, and real-life habits all needed to be understood bit by bit.
After the second class, Lin Mu put away his book and walked to the playground.
Chang Qiankun was surprised. Lin Mu, a homebody, usually stayed in during breaks. This time, he actually went out. After some thought, he followed.
Kicking and punching, Lin Mu was practicing the techniques of Jeet Kune Do.
This was the second ability he had exchanged for. The first was street sketching. He originally planned to draw on the street if his martial arts novel submissions didn't go well, to earn some living expenses and reputation. However, the submissions went smoothly, and this skill was only used to sketch a few beauties in his class, serving no real purpose.
After exchanging for a skill, although it felt like he had practiced it, he could use it smoothly in a fight, but becoming familiar with it allowed him to use it much more effectively.
Jeet Kune Do emphasizes speed, no unnecessary movements, and simultaneous attacks on the upper, middle, and lower parts of the body, combining defense and offense.
Lin Mu was still getting used to it, and his physical condition wasn't great, so his movements were somewhat chaotic.
Chang Qiankun glanced at him and sneered inwardly.
"Knowing there's trouble, you start practicing now? Too late!"
Feeling smug, he stopped watching and turned to leave.
However, he didn't see Lin Mu quickly stabilize and his punches becoming more direct...
...
After evening study, it was already 9:30 PM.
Lin Mu, who liked quiet, left about ten minutes later than others. He packed up his things, left the school gate, and headed to the dormitory.
Shuizhen was not a highly developed city, especially around the school, where large-scale construction was not allowed, leaving many old single-story houses and dark alleys without streetlights.
While walking on a side street, a red-haired boy, about the same age as Lin Mu, blocked his way with an evil smile: "Brother Peng is waiting for you. Follow me!"
Lin Mu looked in the direction he pointed, seeing a dark alley with about five or six people.
The streetlights were dim, and the alley was dark, only showing shadows.
Lin Mu suddenly laughed, finding it interesting: "Did your Brother Peng not tell you about me before hiding in the dark alley?"
The red-haired boy's evil smile froze, and he asked in confusion: "You just write a few short stories, right?"
Lin Mu walked closer, patted his shoulder, and laughed: "Not just that! He should have told you that I like to strike first!"
His voice suddenly became loud, startling the red-haired boy. As a small thug, he preferred to fight without drawing attention, fearing that someone might call the police.
By the time he regained his senses, Lin Mu had already pressed his right hand on the back of his head and pushed down.
At the same time, he raised his left knee, and with a dull thud, it hit the other's nose, blood splattering on Lin Mu's knee.
"Ah!"
The red-haired boy instantly fell to the ground, screaming in pain. Lin Mu's blow was too harsh, and he probably broke his nose.
Lin Mu still felt it wasn't enough and kicked him in the chest and abdomen. With a smaller scream, the red-haired boy rolled a few times and fell nearby, unable to get up.
Since he had started the fight, he shouldn't hold back!
In his previous life, Lin Mu would think about whether the other person would bleed or get injured before striking, and whether he would be arrested by the police for hitting too hard.
This naive thought had caused him a lot of trouble, and he wouldn't make the same mistake again.
The people in the alley, hearing the screams, realized something was wrong. When they ran out, they saw Lin Mu kicking.
Wang Peng's eyes narrowed, and he gritted his teeth: "You dare to strike first! If I don't beat you to the ground and make you call me 'Brother Peng' and slap yourself, my name will be written backward!"
The other four thugs, including the green-haired boy who had been injured earlier, each held a hardwood stick and moved to surround Lin Mu.
As long as they surrounded him and struck together, no matter how strong Lin Mu was, he would be unable to resist the pain and would be at their mercy. They were very familiar with this tactic.
