Chapter 50

As the group continued to chatter aimlessly, no one left, their eyes fixed on the mirage. This matter was of great importance; if the young man from the remnant tribe truly was the legendary one destined to face the calamity, they must obtain the news at the first moment and take action.

In free fall, Bu Li's heart felt as if it were about to stop beating. The moment he entered the fissure, the surrounding pressure suddenly became extremely strong, as if the mantle could close at any moment, crushing Bu Li into powder.

Despite his body being as strong as a wild beast, Bu Li's vision went black, and he was about to faint.

After a few breaths, Bu Li finally regained his strength and adapted to the immense pressure around him. He adjusted his body, head down, and tried to locate Dahei. The wind howled, making it difficult for Bu Li to see clearly. He barely made out a dark, struggling figure not far below, which slightly reassured him.

In the split second, there was no time for reflection. The right vine immediately extended, tightly wrapping around Dahei.

The left vine tightened, and Bu Li felt that even the thousand-year-old vine seemed unable to withstand the momentum of their fall. The tough vine seemed about to snap from the combined weight of himself and Dahei. "Damn, you're so fat!" Bu Li cursed in his heart, continuing to extend the left vine, gradually reducing the force of the fall.

Dahei, in a panic, continued to struggle, trying to grab the rocks beside him. With each struggle, Bu Li felt the vine creak as if it would break at any moment.

"Damn, stop moving!" Bu Li finally couldn't hold back and shouted, his mouth full of sand and gravel.

Hearing Bu Li's voice, Dahei finally calmed down. The two of them fell, Bu Li remaining incredibly calm, estimating the height they had fallen. It must be several thousand meters... He didn't know how long the old vine could extend.

The momentum of the fall slowed, and Bu Li no longer wanted to passively wait. While holding Dahei with his right hand, he lifted his leg and drew a dagger from his leg bindings, stabbing it into the hard rock wall to slow their descent.

For every inch Bu Li's right hand moved, Dahei, about ten feet below, would move a foot, colliding with the rocks like a pendulum, making a "thud, thud" sound.

"Bu Li, you damn bastard!"

What the hell! Dahei could really speak? Bu Li hadn't expected that the powerful being in the white mist was joking when he said Dahei would speak. The first words out of Dahei's mouth were curses, which left Bu Li feeling quite helpless.

"Endure it!" Bu Li didn't care if Dahei would be hurt; with his thick skin, it wouldn't hurt much.

The dagger looked dull, but no matter how Bu Li used it, it remained immovable, shaking his arm with each strike, while the dagger itself showed no change, still looking lifeless and gray, without a glimmer of light.

After about ten strikes, Bu Li used the dagger to stab into the rock wall, hanging in mid-air. He wouldn't die... Bu Li's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally relaxed.

Directing Dahei to stand on a small protruding rock, Bu Li felt the vine wasn't as strained, which further reassured him. He looked around, pondering how to get up.

His eyes gradually adapted to the darkness, the light so faint it was almost nonexistent. It was very hard to see clearly. A faint light appeared in Bu Li's eyes, though very weak, it was like sunlight in this environment, giving Bu Li a sense of hope.

Slowly moving to where the light was, he found it was the light shining through a gap in the rock caused by the mantle's movement. After several twists and turns, it was almost completely dark.

With a thought, Bu Li found a place to stand and began chiseling through the mantle rock with the dagger.

The dagger was indeed useful, at least in terms of hardness, it was no worse than a Swiss Army knife from his previous life.

As he chiseled through the rock wall, Bu Li could vaguely see what seemed to be a stone chamber through the fissure, illuminated by the dim light of a night pearl, which was somewhat yellowish. He didn't know if anyone was inside.

Forget it! Bu Li didn't expect to find treasures or meet any great predecessors; he just needed a place to rest. His soul power was almost depleted, and the vine wouldn't last much longer. He needed to rest first, then find a way back to the Divine Legacy Mountains. Survival was the most important thing.

Continuing to chisel, Bu Li felt like a stone worker. Life was truly unpredictable; he couldn't predict what he would do next. He worked hard to create a narrow passage, but even though the dagger was sturdy, it wasn't very handy. The mantle rock was incredibly hard, and Bu Li almost exhausted all his strength.

Pulling Dahei up, he retracted the vine and pushed Dahei into the passage. The guy was so fat that the small passage Bu Li had chiseled looked ridiculously narrow compared to Dahei's body.

After Dahei could speak, he kept cursing, acting like a thug. Bu Li really wanted to meet that powerful being again and have him take back this annoying ability.

With great effort, Bu Li and Dahei finally entered the stone chamber. Dahei, regardless of what was inside, sat down with a thud, panting heavily, his bear fur in disarray, and blood trickling from his wounds, looking like a stray dog.

Bu Li gently inhaled the air in the stone chamber, which was somewhat stale but not pungent, probably due to being sealed for a long time. As long as it wasn't poisonous, it was fine. He looked around; the stone chamber was small, with a skeleton sitting on a mat, the flesh completely rotted away, wearing grayish-white clothes.

To the left of the skeleton, there was a stone pillar, on which a fist-sized night pearl rested, emitting a soft light, illuminating the small room.

This must be the remains of a great predecessor, Bu Li thought, though exhausted, he believed in some predestined fate and felt grateful. He walked to the skeleton, bowed, and said, "I apologize for disturbing your peace, please do not be angry."

Seeing no danger around, Bu Li found a place to sit against the wall, took out two cigarettes from his deer skin pouch, lit them, and threw one to Dahei.

"Damn!" Dahei seemed to have nothing good to say, clumsily catching the cigarette Bu Li threw, took a puff, and cursed.

"Being alive is good enough. Let's rest for a while." Bu Li smoked, carefully observing the skeleton. Some objects were scattered around, and there were some small characters carved on the rock wall behind it, along with a black wooden box, the contents of which were unknown.

This must be a strange encounter, Bu Li thought bitterly. In the past, when reading novels, he always hoped that the story of falling off a cliff and meeting a great master would happen to him, but now he realized that if given another chance, he would rather it never happened.
