"我有别的计划...放心吧,你们先走,无关义气。"
Alpha smiled,
Clearly, Huang Basan and Changqing had no intention of leaving Alpha alone to wait. From their character, these two were decent people, so Alpha straightforwardly told them that he had a plan and they didn't need to worry. He also told them not to stay out of a sense of brotherhood and fight alongside him.
Huang Basan wanted to say something, but Changqing already knew Alpha had other matters to attend to, and these were things that neither he nor Huang Basan could help with. So, Changqing held back Huang Basan.
The three of them added each other as friends, and Huang Basan, albeit reluctantly, was pulled by Changqing back to the Defias Outpost.
After seeing them off, Alpha opened a private chat and directly called Lancelot:
"Send a dozen capable fighters to the Pale Canyon..."
"What for?!"
Before Alpha could finish, Lancelot interrupted, clearly quite relaxed. Alpha's request to gather people for a fight piqued Lancelot's curiosity even more.
"...League of Heroes is sending supplies—wait for my signal to attack—bring Xiao Dao."
Without further ado, Lancelot gathered over a dozen hired fighters from Maple Snow City and notified Bella. The group rushed to the vicinity of the Pale Canyon and hid, ready to charge in and deal with the League of Heroes at Alpha's command.
Lancelot had no doubt about Alpha's plan. Generally, when Alpha took the initiative, things usually worked out. This was a conclusion Lancelot had drawn from years of working with Alpha.
Alpha was grinding experience in the Pale Canyon while keeping an eye on the canyon entrance, watching for any signs of people.
Sure enough, a dozen or so individuals with the shield-shaped "League of Heroes" guild emblem on their chests approached him. Alpha smiled, killed the last skeleton around him with a single finger, and sat down to use the [Meditation] skill...
...
...
"Is it him? Isn't that the useless Alpha? He can use [Cardiac Arrest] now? Are you sure?"
"Absolutely, how else could a 10th-level mage cast a 5th-level spell? He's the Northshire waste, who can't even learn a 0th-level spell."
The fleeing Forester, Rolling Youth, said to the senior Warlock beside him.
Judging by the freshness of his robes, this was at least a 40th-level Warlock, likely one of the first batch of players to enter the game around the same time as Alpha. Knowing Alpha, the waste, was not surprising. The other dozen or so players were mostly around 40th level, except for Rolling Youth.
Clearly, Alpha's strategy of showing off and taunting had worked.
Whether for revenge or to kill and loot, the League of Heroes had ample reason to come after him. Letting Rolling Youth escape was just to send a message back, as the other four had gone to the resurrection temple and couldn't contact the game for an hour.
Fortunately, this time there were four of them, enough to play a game of mahjong or Four Nations Chess.
Alpha's bait to lure the "League of Heroes" for revenge was the nonexistent [Cardiac Arrest]. For a 10th-level mage to use a 5th-level spell, the most reasonable explanation was that he had an extremely rare charged spell item.
Charged spell items were a shortcut to casting more spells in "Dungeons and Dragons." Charged spell items were highly sought after, especially those with a 5th-level spell like [Cardiac Arrest].
"People die for wealth."
Alpha smiled as he watched the League of Heroes players, like a wife waiting for her husband to return home (Alpha roared in anger, "What the hell are you saying?! [Sleeve Arrow]!!! [Pressure Point Strike]!!!")
"Kid, are you still being arrogant? Are you still a waste? 'The League of Heroes is the real waste,' did you say that? Say it again."
A dozen high-level players arrived, and Rolling Youth, the Forester from the previous five-man team, immediately gained the upper hand. He strutted up to Alpha, hands on his hips, and started a barrage of insults, acting like a shrew, while also shooting an arrow at Alpha to show his current advantage in numbers.
"Do you really enjoy repeating what I said?"
Alpha smiled, then suddenly moved, dashing to Rolling Youth and, like he did to the Shield Warrior Foshan Huang Feihong, jabbed his fingers into the Forester's chest with [Pressure Point Strike] while shouting with [Phantom Sound]:
"[Cardiac Arrest]!!!"
-476!!!
A Forester with only about 200 HP couldn't withstand such a hit. Even with decent stats and equipment, Rolling Youth had only about 220 HP.
This [Pressure Point Strike] with 120 points of internal energy dealt 476 points of damage, even higher than the damage to the Shield Warrior.
After all, [Pressure Point Strike] not only dealt a fixed amount of internal energy damage but also additional normal attack damage based on strength and agility, which the Forester's defense couldn't match the Shield Warrior's.
"Damn!"
The Warlock closest to the Forester was stunned by Alpha's brazen and somewhat insane move. Seeing his subordinate killed in front of him, he couldn't help but curse.
Without hesitation, the Warlock cast [Dalaran's Lightning Javelin]!
[Dalaran's Lightning Javelin] is a 4th-level spell that deals both impact and lightning damage. It is highly damaging and has a spectacular visual and auditory effect, making it a powerful 4th-level spell that is both efficient and flashy. Although it has a longer casting time for mages, it's not an issue for Warlocks.
As spellcasters with dragon blood, Warlocks have a natural advantage in using mid-to-low-level magic.
They don't need to use spellbooks and materials to communicate with the Weave like mages. Instead, they can use the Weave's energy freely through their innate bloodline connection. For some low-level spells, Warlocks can cast them without incantations, such as instantly casting [Dalaran's Lightning Javelin], which is a significant benefit.
Of course, the benefits of having a bloodline advantage for Warlocks don't stop there. They also consume less mana when casting spells.
For example, [Dalaran's Lightning Javelin] typically requires 61 mana points and a [Lightning Lizard Claw] material for mages, but this Warlock only consumed 30 mana points and cast the 4th-level spell without any materials.
From a game data perspective, the low mana consumption of Warlocks is due to their use of the Weave, which is determined by their Charisma rather than Intelligence like mages.
Therefore, Warlocks with low Intelligence have less mana and naturally can't consume too much.
Of course, since they rely on innate talent rather than understanding of spells, Warlocks generally lack rational thinking. They mostly follow their emotions and prioritize intuitive thinking, so few Warlocks would sit in a mage tower to study spell principles.
Thus, few Warlocks can understand, study, or even create legendary spells.
From a game element perspective, in "Dungeons and Dragons," Warlocks can master fewer and less powerful legendary spells than mages.
This is a deliberate disadvantage set in the game to balance the casting advantages of Warlocks over mages.
However, this does not prevent the Warlock class from becoming the largest group of spellcasters in "Dungeons and Dragons." The speed advantage of low mana consumption in the early game attracts many players to become talented Warlocks rather than wise mages.
—High mana consumption aside, the task of collecting and purchasing spell materials like bat guano and rat eyes is not something everyone is willing to do. More importantly, many low-level spells can be instantly cast by Warlocks, and the restriction on learning legendary spells is not a concern for most.
Well, in fact, I just wanted to give you a brief understanding of the Warlock class and the 40th-level spellcaster in front of you...
...
...
Amidst the crackling lightning, the arcane javelin charged at Alpha with tremendous force, the violent energy causing a strong wind that flapped Alpha's robes. In an instant, the lightning javelin exploded with a deafening boom, striking Alpha.
The dancing sparks enveloped Alpha, dealing two different types of damage:
-168!!!
-284!!!
The explosion created a dense cloud of smoke, and in the Warlock's field of vision, two significant damage numbers appeared one after another.
—The first 168 was impact damage, and the second 244 was the lightning damage from [Dalaran's Lightning Javelin]!!!
[Dalaran's Lightning Javelin] is one of the few high-damage 4th-level spells, with damage often exceeding several hundred points, making it a spell that even 30th to 40th-level players dare not take lightly, let alone a 10th-level mage.
In fact, even 40th-level mages rarely have the resilience to withstand a total of 452 points of damage.
Seeing the lightning javelin hit and the thick smoke that followed, the Warlock, without a second thought, nodded to a priest named Alasgar, signaling him to resurrect Alpha. In the Warlock's eyes, Alpha was already as good as dead.
Alasgar was a priest serving the Dawnbringer Lathander, known for his healing skills. A simple [Resurrection] was no challenge for him. Just a few seconds ago, Alasgar had already revived Rolling Youth, who was killed by Alpha.
In fact, the Warlock's intention to resurrect Alpha was not out of kindness or reconciliation. The "good equipment" on Alpha was his ultimate goal. The Warlock had "personally witnessed" Alpha's fake [Cardiac Arrest] and was convinced that the 10th-level mage had a "5th-level charged spell item."
The Warlock was determined to repeatedly kill this mage through malicious resurrection until the equipment dropped.
