"Hey, over there, over there, I told you to put it there, how can you be so stupid?"
"Oh... be more careful with this thing, you two, this is a Qing Dynasty artifact. If it gets damaged, can you afford to pay for it?"
In a spacious office building, a young man in a white suit, with glasses on his nose, was standing in the middle, directing a group of workers moving items around.
The young man was 1.75 meters tall, in his thirties, with a slender build and a well-defined figure. Well, the term "well-defined figure" might not be quite right, but it didn't seem out of place with his current role. A man with a high-pitched voice, constantly pointing and directing, he resembled a middle-aged woman. If he were to wear a long dress, he would almost be a living drag queen.
Don't be fooled by this middle-aged man's high-pitched, effeminate voice; he is actually a significant figure in Shangjiang City. His name is Gu Fenglin, and... uh, he doesn't have a courtesy name, I got that wrong.
This Gu Fenglin is a member of the Gu family in Shangjiang City, a branch of the family. Previously, he was a marginal figure in the Gu family, but now, he is a key figure in the entire Gu family, all because he is a feng shui master.
Although feng shui and mysticism have declined in recent times, many secret techniques are unknown to outsiders, and with the prevalence of fraudsters, feng shui and mysticism have been labeled as feudal superstitions, leaving little room for survival. However, there are still some genuine masters and experts hidden in the bustling cities, not showing their true colors, and ordinary people rarely come into contact with them. Those who understand the situation, however, do not dare to be disrespectful.
Gu Fenglin was recognized by a mysticism master in his teens and has been learning mysticism techniques for over twenty years. Although he is only in his thirties, he is quite accomplished. Many wealthy and influential people in Shangjiang City seek his feng shui and fortune-telling services, willing to pay a fortune.
Gu Fenglin is quite famous, but he doesn't have the demeanor of a master. He has a rather androgynous appearance and a high-pitched, effeminate voice, often talking incessantly.
The office building he was currently directing the setup of belongs to the famous Jiang Group in Shangjiang City, one of the three major families in the city. Although Gu Fenglin is well-known, he wouldn't dare to offend the Jiang family, so he was being very meticulous.
While directing the workers, Gu Fenglin anxiously checked his wristwatch. It was almost noon, and he was quite worried.
"Mr. Gu, is there something urgent?" A middle-aged man in a suit, who had seen Gu Fenglin check the time three times in a short period, walked over with a smile and asked politely.
This middle-aged man was named Jiang Shihao, the third son of the Jiang family and the future president of this branch company. He was a sharp and capable man, standing 1.8 meters tall with a robust build. Standing next to Gu Fenglin, the scene was quite comical.
"Yes," Gu Fenglin, seeing it was almost noon, nodded and said, "To be honest, Mr. Jiang, my junior uncle is coming to Shangjiang today, and his train arrives at 12:15."
"Junior uncle?" Jiang Shihao was initially taken aback, a glint of interest flashing in his eyes, which he quickly concealed. He hurriedly said, "This is a big deal. Why didn't you say so earlier? Let's go and welcome him personally. Your uncle must be a distinguished elder, and I would be honored to meet him."
Of course, Jiang Shihao knew he had to seize this opportunity. Gu Fenglin was already well-known in Shangjiang City, and many were curious about his lineage. With his senior coming, Jiang Shihao couldn't miss the chance. If he could get some guidance from Gu Fenglin's uncle, the feng shui layout of the branch company would be even more perfect.
Thinking about Gu Fenglin's abilities, Jiang Shihao couldn't sit still. Gu Fenglin was already very skilled in feng shui and fortune-telling. If his uncle were to help, the branch company would surely prosper.
Gu Fenglin knew that if he mentioned this, it would inevitably lead to this situation. Thinking about his junior uncle's dislike of attention, he felt a headache. However, the Jiang family was not someone he could offend. They were polite to him, and he couldn't be rude. He nodded and said, "Thank you, Mr. Jiang."
"Not at all, not at all," Jiang Shihao said with a smile. "I'll have a car prepared and book a presidential suite at the Qingyun Hotel in Shangjiang City."
"Actually, Mr. Jiang, there's no need for a room. My uncle doesn't like attention; a low-key arrangement would be better," Gu Fenglin quickly said.
"Alright, then we'll just book a regular room," Jiang Shihao said without insisting. He understood that people like Gu Fenglin often have special preferences, and it was better to first test the waters with this elder.
As they talked, they went downstairs. The branch company of the Jiang Group was located in the commercial district of Shangjiang City, with a building over thirty stories high, looking quite impressive.
Outside the building, a black extended Lincoln was already waiting. The driver, seeing Jiang Shihao come out, quickly opened the door, shielding his head as he escorted Jiang Shihao and Gu Fenglin into the car. He then got into the driver's seat and drove straight to the Shangjiang City train station.
The car stopped near the train station, and Jiang Shihao got out, slightly frowning. The train station was a place with a mix of people, from all walks of life, including thieves, beggars, and street performers. For someone of Jiang Shihao's status, this was his first time here.
However, thinking about the person they were to meet, Jiang Shihao suppressed his emotions. Gu Fenglin was already skilled in feng shui and fortune-telling, and his uncle must be extraordinary. If he could get a reading from him, it would be worth the trip.
At this moment, Gu Fenglin didn't have time to pay attention to Jiang Shihao. He was pushing through the crowd at the exit, checking the time, and taking out his phone, looking around.
"Ring, ring..." Just as Gu Fenglin reached the exit, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and quickly answered, smiling, "Junior uncle, have you arrived?"
"Yes, I'm here, near the exit. There's a McDonald's nearby. Where are you?" A voice came from the phone. Jiang Shihao, standing nearby, faintly heard it and subconsciously frowned. The voice sounded so young, like a man in his twenties.
Of course, Jiang Shihao was only momentarily taken aback. Without seeing the person, he couldn't make a judgment. He quickly instructed the driver, "Quick, find a McDonald's nearby."
The driver, who had been observant on the way, quickly said, "Mr. Jiang, it's right over there. We passed it on the way." He then led the way.
The McDonald's was not far from the exit. The three of them pushed through the crowd and soon saw the McDonald's. Jiang Shihao looked around and saw a young man in his twenties standing near the McDonald's, with a bag on the ground, apparently waiting for someone. The people around were just passing by, and there was no one else.
Just as he was about to ask Gu Fenglin if he had made a mistake, he saw Gu Fenglin's face light up as he walked quickly toward the young man, smiling, "Junior uncle, you're here."
"I..." Jiang Shihao, who was following Gu Fenglin, was momentarily stunned, almost stumbling. He stared at the young man Gu Fenglin was greeting, unable to believe this was the distinguished elder he had been imagining.
Jiang Shihao was in a daze, but the young man wasn't. Seeing Gu Fenglin, he smiled and looked him up and down, saying, "Xiao Feng, you look good. This outfit must have cost a lot. It seems you're doing well in Shangjiang City."
"Alright, alright," Gu Fenglin laughed awkwardly, then remembered Jiang Shihao standing nearby. He quickly introduced him, "Mr. Jiang, this is my junior uncle, Ning Yuan."
"Mr. Ning, hello." Jiang Shihao was unsure how to address him, feeling a bit awkward, but he extended his hand out of respect for Gu Fenglin.
Gu Fenglin, having introduced Ning Yuan, quickly said, "Junior uncle, this is the president of the Jiang Group in Shangjiang City, Mr. Jiang."
"Mr. Jiang, hello." Ning Yuan smiled and shook hands with Jiang Shihao, saying, "You look like a prosperous man, with a full forehead, indicating great wealth and honor."
If Ning Yuan were in his fifties or even forties, and being Gu Fenglin's uncle, Jiang Shihao would have been overjoyed. However, Ning Yuan looked to be in his early twenties, and such a young man saying these words didn't excite him at all. He nodded perfunctorily and said, "Mr. Ning, you must be tired from the journey. Let's go have a meal first."
