VOL 3 Chapter 7 Fear of Death

I shouted and attacked the two gray wolves fighting Al.
One of the gray wolves reacted to me and ran towards me. Having never fought a quadrupedal creature before, I was a bit confused. However, the creature’s vital points were the same.
Since the creature was in a low position, its methods of attack were limited. However, there was nothing I couldn’t handle. I threw a low kick with my right foot at the gray wolf’s face with that in mind.
The gray wolf reacted to the kick. He brakes quickly and dodges the kick. The gray wolf dodged diagonally right in front of me and jumped into the gap created by the kick, aiming for my groin and biting me.
That’s not good! In my haste, I fell to my left with the momentum of my kick and rolled to get away from him.
He reacted quickly. It’s more troublesome than I thought. I didn’t realize that attacks from below were so difficult to deal with,……. It’s a great way to make sure you’re getting the most out of your money.
I was impatient and kicked a lot. Try to kick compactly.
The kick that I just threw was a kick where I stepped straight in, twisted my axle foot outward, put my weight on it, and slammed my shin into it.
It was the most popular way to kick and the most powerful. But right now, speed was more important than power. I concentrated on the preliminary movements of the Gray Wolf.
Most living things use their hind legs to kick the ground for propulsion when they move. The same is true for quadrupedal creatures. I can read an attack’s timing by looking at the “tame” of its hind legs.
The gray wolf gradually closes the distance between us, circling me like a circle.
The distance closes, and I enter the Grey Wolf’s attack range. At that moment, I felt my back foot twitch.
I took a small step with my left foot open 90 degrees to the outside. Instead of twisting the axle leg and putting weight on it, I stepped in with the leg already open and used muscle power and weight transfer to create a powerful kick.
This kicking technique is used by athletes such as Miko.
It is difficult to generate power unless a player with excellent instantaneous power uses it. Also, you need to lean your upper body in the kick’s direction to put your weight on it.
When kicking the upper body, the tilt is greater, so the place to kick is easily read.
Miko had eliminated this disadvantage by combining middle and high motion and punching feints until halfway through the fight.
My opponent is not human, so I don’t need to worry about being detected by his preliminary movements.
When you kick with your axle leg open, the trajectory tends to be outward. I wanted to be fast, so I consciously kicked in the shortest possible path.
My kick, which emphasized speed but not just hitting the target, put my weight on it and was conscious of its power, struck the gray wolf’s neck.
I could feel the bone-cracking through my leg. I aimed for the face, but the gray wolf’s speed was faster than I imagined, and it hit the neck.
But it was more effective than a kick to the face. I made a mistake, but it turned out to be a good one. I adjusted the gray wolf’s movements upward in my mind and thanked my lucky stars that I was able to kill it with a single blow.
I was conscious of my power, but I focused on speed. Even though I hit him with a counter, I didn’t expect to be able to kill him with a single blow.
His speed was great, but his durability was low. If their durability were also high, there would be nothing but despair.
While I had defeated one, the pair of Gonz and Kimon had also defeated one.
Of the first five, only the one fighting Al was left. I wanted to kill the remaining one quickly and retreat.
Unfortunately, time seemed to be running out.
Ten gray wolves jumped out of the forest. I pulled out my knife from my waist with my right hand and held it in my other hand in a southpaw stance.
The gray wolves emerged from the forest and ran in all directions, confusing Gonz.
I can use my sense of smell to deal with attacks from behind. But my eyes couldn’t keep up with the gray wolves running in all directions.
This is not good. An unpleasant sweat broke out on my back. As I was confused by the gray wolf’s attack, I noticed that there was one gray wolf left in the forest.
Why isn’t it coming? While I was thinking about this, the presence in the forest started to move slowly. The gray wolf is moving around, gradually closing the distance and narrowing the area that surrounds us.
As the gray wolf slowly closes the distance between us, my fear begins to rise. I sit back and concentrate, ready to be set upon at any moment.
The only gray wolf left in the forest appeared. The gray wolf is bigger than the other gray wolves. It was at least a size larger than the other gray wolf gray wolves.
“A higher species of gray wolf!”
Al shouted in astonishment. You’re in a pinch, and now you’ve got a superior species! Gonz and the rest of the party, including myself, were extremely upset.
The gray wolves Gray Wolf and others attack all at once to pierce the turmoil. It was an unpleasant attack that withdrew after a single blow.
They didn’t bite in packs but instead used their fangs and claws to wound each other as they passed each other. I was scratching them and leaving. If you are distracted by the front, you will jump from behind, and if you are distracted by the bottom, you will jump from above.
The gray wolf, rampaging in all directions, inflicts multiple, though shallow, wounds on me. The wounds are far from fatal, but the pain breaks my concentration.
The bleeding isn’t too bad now, but it will worsen as time goes on.
I’m prepared to be hit, so I abandon my defenses and launch a counterattack. The gray wolf jumped at me from behind, and I turned around and swung at him with the knife in my other hand.
The gray wolf bleeds profusely from the cut artery in his neck. While I’m attacking, another gray wolf bites me on the leg.
I thrust my backhanded knife into the back of the bitten gray wolf’s head. Another gray wolf tries to bite me on the neck.
I dodged the bite just in time, but the claw cut above my left eye. The bleeding went into my eye and blocked my vision. Oh no, I’m going to be killed.
I hadn’t felt this way since I arrived in the other world. Even though I was in a life-threatening battle with a hobgoblin, I felt as if it was someone else’s problem.
It was as if it wasn’t about me, even though it was about me. It was such a fluffy feeling. It was as if I had become a character in a video game with no sense of reality.
But now, it was different. I imagined it realistically. I imagined myself being killed and my corpse being devoured by a gray wolf.
For the first time since I came to the other world, I felt the real fear of death. My body trembled, and I stopped moving. Without missing a beat, two gray wolves pounced on me.
It was as if the world was flowing slowly in slow motion. The fangs of the Gray Wolves were closing in on me.
I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die. I don’t want to be killed and have my corpse eaten! Why do I have to go through this?
I risked my life to save a man, and now I’m thrown naked into a dangerous forest, wandering around for over a year, nearly killed by villagers, killing people, and finally arriving in a town full of criminals.
You’ve been reincarnated, but you’re going to die in misery? This is no joke! I’m not dying in this place! On the contrary, I’m going to kill all of these people.
The moment I thought that my body stopped shaking. In the slowly flowing world, I start to move.
I thrust the knife in my right hand at the gray wolf that was jumping at me from both sides and thrust my left hand at the gray wolf from a low position.
The knife in my right-hand stabs into the back, and the left-hand thrusts through the soft belly of the gray wolf. As soon as I felt that touch in my left hand, the world regained its speed.
I could feel the agitation of the gray wolves as the unexpected counterattack hit them.
If we go on the defensive, we’ll be out of luck. I want to reduce their numbers as much as possible before the higher species enter the fray. I took a handful of coins from the bag on my hip and threw them at the gray wolf.
Since my level has strengthened my physical abilities, it’s not quite a shotgun, but the coins are scattered over a wide area with considerable speed.
The gray wolf that was hit by the coins screamed and cried out. I jumped into the gray wolf, which had stopped moving after being hit by the coins, and fired a diagonal fist thrust downward.
My fist sinks into the gray wolf, shattering its fangs and destroying its face. The fangs’ fragments bite into my fist and cause a scar, but I don’t care about that.
With a snap of my wrist, I pretend to throw an object at the gray wolf that was about to bite me.
The gray wolf, wary of the coin attack, stopped its attack and took evasive action.
I was bluffing, but thankfully the gray wolf reacted. If they had attacked me, I would have been in danger.
With the gray wolf’s numbers dwindling, I had a little more time to check my surroundings.
The Gonz seemed to have killed one of them, but they were struggling with the remaining four and didn’t seem to provide support.
Wolves hunt weak prey first. The one that had been fighting Al and the four additional ones, for a total of five, were holding Gonz and the others back.
In the meantime, the remaining five must have attacked me, the smallest and weakest, in an attempt to defeat me. The boss, for some reason, decided to watch from on high.
The gray wolf with the knife in its neck had died of blood loss or was not moving. The gray wolf with a knife in the back of his head was also dead or motionless.
The two that jumped at me simultaneously, and the one that was hit in the face with a fist, were weakened. But they still seemed to be able to move.
Wounded beasts are terrifying. I concentrate to the limit.
The three of them form a circle around me. They gradually close the circle and close the distance between us. That’s when the tension reaches its peak.
The boss, who had been watching from a high vantage point, started running toward me. At the same time, three of them attacked me.
The gray wolf jumped at me, trying to bite my left hand, and I knocked it off with my hand knife. I heard a cracking sound as the bones in its neck broke.
At that moment, I felt pain in my right leg. A third wolf pounced on me, trying to get its fangs into my neck.
I intercepted the gray wolf with a counter headbutt, aiming for its neck. A piece of the fang pierced my forehead, causing it to bleed, but fortunately, it didn’t block the vision in my right eye.
That was the end of my counterattack.
There was no way the boss would miss the opening that the wounded gray wolves had risked their lives to create.
Bitten in the leg and unable to move, I fell as if the boss had jumped on me and squeezed me.
The boss held my fallen chest with his paw and tried to bite my neck. I desperately grabbed my face with both hands and pushed my face to prevent him from biting me.
The claws of the paw on my chest tear through the leather armor and steel plate, making a shallow cut on my chest. Frowning in pain, I desperately try to prevent the boss from biting me.
My arms and chest are tense, and I’m losing strength. This is not good. It was a bad idea to let go of the knife.
When the pressure was on me, the claws cut my arm, and I let go of the knife. I was not used to fighting with weapons.
If I had been used to fighting with a weapon, I would not have let go of my weapon even if I was wounded.
I don’t have the strength in my arms anymore. …… The image of the boss biting his neck passed through my mind.
The weight of death hangs heavy over me as my mind and body are slowly being drained. Lactic acid builds up in my muscles, and my arms feel as heavy as lead.
My brain, trapped in a corner, begins to spin so fast that it burns out. Is there anything, anything at all? As if clinging to something, I pondered a solution. Then I had an idea.
I let go of my right hand that was holding the boss’s face. Twisting my neck to avoid the bite, I put my left hand around his neck as if I were hugging him.
While hugging desperately, he rifled through his pockets with his right hand. There was a waterproof sachet sewn into the lining of his clothes. I tore it off.
Clinging desperately to my boss, who was flailing with only my left hand, I held my breath, closed my eyes, and slammed the sachet in my right hand against his nose.
The powder flew around, and the boss let out a yelp. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I caught the front paw placed on his chest and pushed his right hind leg with my left foot.
As soon as the boss loses his balance, I arm-drag him to the back and apply a naked choke.
While putting his weight on the back to cover him, he whips his panting arm and chokes him.
The boss stands up with his neck in a chokehold and flails about, trying to shake me off. It’s like a rodeo.
I cling desperately to him and tighten my hold on his neck. Please hurry up and die! I thought as I prayed, nearing my limit.
I wondered how long we had been fighting for endurance. Probably not that long.
But for me, it was a hellish time with no end in sight.
Gradually, the boss slowed down and finally stopped moving. What if he was faking his death? What if the monster didn’t need to breathe?
Because of this fear, I continued to choke the boss even after he stopped moving. Even after the boss’s body completely lost its strength, I continued to block him and broke his neck just in case.
After snapping the boss’s neck, I finally had time to look around.
The boss was defeated, and I felt relaxed, but then I realized something.
The gray wolf that had been biting my leg must still be there. That’s what I thought and looked around.
The gray wolf that had bitten my leg was dead, its intestines protruding from its belly.
Now that the gray wolf that had attacked me had been wiped out, I finally had time to pay attention to Gonz and the others.
I looked at Gonz and saw that they were dealing with the last of them. I guess we don’t need to join them. If they look like that, they’ll take out the last one in no time.
Just as I thought that my body suddenly relaxed.
I sat down and couldn’t stand up. I sat down and couldn’t stand up. I just sat there in a daze, watching the Gons defeat the last one.
The Gonz, who had defeated the last Gray Wolf, approached me. Because of my mistake, I had put them in danger of death.
If I’m not careful, they might kill me. I tried to stand up to fight if they attacked me, but my body wouldn’t listen to me.
I sat down and watched the gons approaching me.

There are many ways to do it, but in this case, I pulled the boss’s front leg and kicked his back leg to make him lose his balance, then took the opportunity to go behind him.
