The name "Luoluo" was given by Yang Yan, as he felt there was a bit of a fateful coincidence in it. Although the little girl had been abandoned, she was so fortunate to be thrown into a garbage pile where he was lying, and even more accurately, right into his arms—至少在杨言看来是如此。
Doctor Peng had analyzed with him that if the little girl hadn’t received enough warmth and protection in Yang Yan’s arms, it would have been difficult for her to survive the long night…
So Yang Yan told Xia Yu, since this little girl had such a fateful connection to land in his arms, why not call her “Luoluo”!
"Why not call her 'Yuan Yuan'? Or 'Qian Qian'?" Xia Yu had a different opinion, and "Qian Qian" was the name of a TV drama heroine she quite liked.
Of course, Yang Yan wasn’t very insistent on using the name "Luoluo." Instead, Xia Yu repeated it a few times and found that "Luoluo" sounded very nice. In comparison, names like "Yuan Yuan," "Yuan Yuan," and "Qian Qian" seemed to be used by everyone, lacking a bit of originality!
"Let’s just call her Luoluo! After all, it’s just a temporary name!" Xia Yu decided for Yang Yan in a carefree manner.
……
Yang Yan met little Luoluo in the ward. Compared to over two weeks ago, the little one seemed to have grown a lot. At least her arms and cheeks had some soft, plump flesh, no longer the malnourished, yellowish, and thin little girl she was when she first arrived!
Of course, she was still very young. Doctor Peng estimated that little Luoluo was just over a month old. Her little arms and legs were soft and weak, with no strength, and could be described as frail and helpless.
"Hello, Luoluo, I’m here to see you again!" Yang Yan placed the bag containing milk powder and diapers by the bed, then took something out from it, hiding it behind his back, and approached the little one with a mysterious smile.
Little Luoluo, lying in bed, was staring with her big, watery eyes, not sure what she was looking at. It was only when Yang Yan approached and the familiar, warm greeting reached her ears that she turned her eyes to look at him.
Yang Yan felt a bit disappointed because little Luoluo didn’t smile at him like she did last night. She just looked at him, her long lashes fluttering slightly, as if trying to recognize who he was.
"I’m Uncle Xiaoyang!" Yang Yan sat on the chair beside the bed, leaning over the railing, and gently teased her little face with his free right hand.
Her soft, cool little face made Yang Yan swear he could touch it all day without getting tired! Little Luoluo’s skin was really good, especially after getting proper nutrition. Her face was round and smooth like jade, and her skin was so delicate and translucent that you could see the fine blood vessels, as if it were made of water!
"Look at your little hands, so small and still making fists, pretending to be a strongman? Daburu dudu!" Yang Yan gently touched little Luoluo’s little fist on the pillow, and couldn’t help but speak in a childlike tone, using some alien language.
However, it was not easy to grasp the thoughts of such a young child. After teasing little Luoluo for a while, the little one still looked at him with wide, unblinking eyes, her little mouth slightly open.
"Luoluo is a bit serious today!" Yang Yan didn’t give up, he chuckled and said, "But it’s okay, Uncle Xiaoyang is prepared. I have a gift for you that you’ll definitely like and will make you smile!"
Then, Yang Yan suddenly revealed his left hand, which he had hidden behind his back.
"Ta-da! Luoluo, look what this is!" Yang Yan smiled and shook the rattle in his left hand, showing it to little Luoluo.
Perhaps the pleasant sound of the rattle or the colorful little hammers caught her attention. Finally, little Luoluo’s attention was drawn to it.
"Do you want it?" Yang Yan remembered something and quickly said with a bit of apology, "Oh, right, I forgot you can’t hold it yet. Uncle Xiaoyang will play it for you."
The rattle was indeed a trump card. After a few shakes, little Luoluo finally opened her little mouth, her lips curling up into a super cute smile!
"You like it, don’t you? You really like it, don’t you?" Yang Yan was delighted and shook the rattle even more energetically.
Little Luoluo indeed liked the sound and movement. She watched intently, her little mouth open in joy, but unfortunately, she couldn’t lift her hands to wave them around!
However, Yang Yan had forgotten he was in a hospital. The "dondon" sound of the rattle made little Luoluo happy, but the nearby infants didn’t like the noise. Soon, one of the babies started crying.
"Oh no, that’s not good!" Yang Yan realized this belatedly and quickly stopped the rattle.
Nurse Hong, who was on duty, heard the commotion and walked in, smiling at Yang Yan. "It’s okay, maybe she needs to be changed. I’ll check."
She walked straight to the crying baby, and Yang Yan, feeling embarrassed, put down his hand and hid the rattle behind little Luoluo’s pillow, as if trying to cover up his mistake.
Little Luoluo didn’t know what had happened. Her big, watery eyes were still filled with longing for the rattle, looking at Yang Yan expectantly.
"Luoluo, we almost caused trouble just now, did you know?" Yang Yan sneakily glanced at Nurse Hong, who was changing the baby, and then turned back to gently tease little Luoluo’s face, whispering to her.
Of course, Yang Yan wasn’t complaining. His face was beaming with a warm smile, like the autumn sun, lighting up little Luoluo’s eyes, which were as black as gemstones.
"But it’s okay, we can play again later, just not so hard or so loud, okay? We’ll be civilized and polite…" Yang Yan smiled and whispered to her.
Little Luoluo smelled fresh, whether it was the scent of milk or the clean smell of a baby. Coupled with her cute, plump little face, Yang Yan couldn’t help but want to kiss her, but he felt it wasn’t appropriate to do so in front of the doctors and nurses.
……
Little Luoluo still needed a lot of sleep to recover and grow, so after playing with her for a while, Nurse Hong came over, prepared the milk, and fed it to her, coaxing her to sleep.
Yang Yan was about to return to school. He stood by the window, watching little Luoluo, waiting for her to fall asleep before leaving.
However, the door of the adjacent examination room opened, and Doctor Peng walked out with a thermos. Seeing Yang Yan standing there, he smiled and patted his shoulder, "Xiaoyang, you’re here. Come, I have something I want to discuss with you."
