Wearing women’s clothing and the like were strange trends that almost no male anchor in the livestream industry could escape from.
However, their reason for wearing women’s clothing was pretty much always decided by the anchor himself.
For example, Blue Wolf.
Wearing women’s clothing during a livestream if he couldn’t make the top 30 in a month….
Wen Xi really wanted to ask— is it your skills that you’re so confident in, or your appearance?
Blue Wolf’s bet with him was, of course, for the overseas servers.
You should know that entering the top 50 of the overseas servers was already the minimum standard for playing professionally.
Wen Xi and Mo Chen had agreed that he would break into the top 50 of the overseas servers in three months.
He didn’t expect that as soon as Blue Wolf arrived, he would say that they would break into the top 30 of the overseas servers in one month.
Should we say that he was worthy of being called Blue Wolf? He was truly a wolf through and through!
So wolfish that he was even willing to throw himself into a pit!
Wen Xi wanted to refuse, really.
He didn’t want to make a bet that he knew he wouldn’t be able to win.
However, at this moment, the barrage was full of enthusiasm.
[This is good! Get the women’s clothes ready!]
[Women’s clothes, women’s clothes, women’s clothes!]
[We’ll finally be able to see God Xi’s face!]
Your stream followers’ wishes should of course be fulfilled.
Besides, if you don’t push yourself, how would you know whether or not you can actually do it?
Wen Xi didn’t actually have any objections to wearing women’s clothing. However, he wouldn’t say that he had worn women’s clothing when he was in junior high school—crossdressing for a play.
When he was in high school, he had also worn women’s clothing—to help his class attract customers during charity fundraisers and so on.
When he was in college, he also had…A girl in the same class as him had dragged him to walk around a convention while cosplaying as Onmyoji’s Shiranui—Yes, the one with the silver pigtails and twin fans.
Wen Xi was actually very confident about how he looked in women’s clothing. He was sure that as long as he didn’t speak and hid his Adam’s apple, no one would be able to tell that he was a boy.
So the reason why he wanted to refuse was mainly because—he didn’t want to show his face in his livestream.
However, Blue Wolf said very maliciously, “Have you read the barrage? Male anchors who haven’t worn women’s clothing can’t count as real male anchors!”
Wen Xi rolled his eyes from across the screen—you can scram delicately and wear women’s clothing, but please don’t drag me down with you, thank you.
But when he thought about it some more, wouldn’t it be good to have some exterior motivation?
It was just…
“Making a bet is fine, but getting into the top 30 is too difficult. Change it to the top 50 ba?” Wen Xi proposed.
“Is the top 30 very difficult?” Blue Wolf said just looking for trouble, “I’m in the top 60 in the overseas servers right now. The top 50 is just a drop away, so it’s not a challenge at all! It would at least be a little challenging to get into the top 30.”
Wen Xi said, “Then you can get into the top 30, and I’ll get into the top 50.”
Blue Wolf asked, “Does this count as you admitting that your skills are inferior to mine?”
Blue Wolf sighed, before gently scolding, “How can you think like this? Can you count as someone who wants to play professionally like this? It’s true that the top 50 in the overseas servers is the bare minimum for playing professionally, but it’s only the minimum! After entering the team, who knows whether you would have a chance to actually go out and fight! If you really want to play professionally, participate in the competition, and win the championship, let alone being in the top 30 in the overseas servers, you must break into the top 10 in the overseas servers!”
Wen Xi froze as he listened, and suddenly felt enlightened!
Blue Wolf said, “I’m just asking you, do you really want to play professionally?!”
Wen Xi replied, “Yes…”
Blue Wolf continued, “So is there any problem with breaking into the top 30 in the overseas servers?!”
Wen Xi replied, “No…”
Blue Wolf continued, “Is there any problem with being punished a bit by having to wear women’s clothing if you don’t break into the top 30?!”
Wen Xi replied, “No…”
Blue Wolf said, “Really, if you had thought it through sooner, then we wouldn’t have had any problems ma! Then we’ll just settle on this—a month from today, whoever hasn’t broken into the top 30 in the overseas servers will have to livestream wearing women’s clothing! ”
Wen Xi: “….”
[Lololololololol God Xi has been out-maneuvered!]
[Wolf Ge really is as crazy as a March hare (well done)!]
[Xixi is too cute hahaha! ]
Wen Xi was also speechless.
He had only become aware of the problem after Blue Wolf had outsmarted him—there really wasn’t an issue with getting into the top 30 in the overseas servers, but there was with the time limit ah! One month ah!
Breaking into the top 30 in the overseas servers in one month?! He hadn’t even created an account yet for the overseas servers ah!
Wen Xi clicked his tongue, then took the plunge, “Isn’t it just the top 30 in the overseas servers? Just watch me!”
*
That night, Wen Xi again didn’t accompany Blue Wolf to livestream into the early hours of the morning, and he ended his livestream more than an hour in advance.
But he just ended his livestream, and didn’t close the game client—he went to farm points in solo matches.
He and Blue Wolf had agreed to break into the top 30 in the overseas servers within a month.
But he had another agreement with Mo Chen, which was to enter the top 10 in the national servers first.
If he couldn’t even get into the top 10 in the national servers, then what bs was he spouting about playing in the overseas servers?
So that night, after Wen Xi ended his livestream, he silently played solo matches for more than two hours. He took first place for four matches in a row, gaining enough solo match points to break into the top 30 in the national servers in one breath!
If it wasn’t for him remembering that he was going out with Mo Chen the next day, Wen Xi would have kept fighting.
The next morning, Wen Xi got up very early.
He set his alarm clock for 6 o’clock. After being woken up by the alarm clock, he rolled back and forth on the bed, but couldn’t get up. He then took a deep breath, and rolled straight off his bed—landing on the ground. Finally, before 7 o’clock, he successfully completed his daily tasks: getting up, dressing, brushing his teeth, and washing his face.
And then he started practicing with guns.
Yes, practicing with guns.
——Wen Xi was much calmer for his second date with Mo Chen than the first time. After setting an alarm, he focused on practicing with guns for a while. Only after the alarm went off did he move to change his clothes.
However, he was still in a bit of a hurry when he picked out clothes to wear. After struggling for a long time while looking at his newly bought clothes from earlier in the month, he finally chose a more casual outfit.
He remembered that during their last date, Mo Chen had dressed very casually, so this time he didn’t want to appear too formal.
Soon, Mo Chen’s call came. After picking up, Wen Xi didn’t wait for Mo Chen to speak before saying,, “I’m coming down now.”
Mo Chen let out an “en” sound, a smile audible in his voice.
Wen Xi remembered Mo Chen’s license plate number, so when he went downstairs and saw Mo Chen’s car, he didn’t hesitate to go forward and open the passenger’s door.
Mo Chen sat in the driver’s seat, and was dressed very casually like last time, just as he had expected. Even his hair appeared messy, totally different from his clean and capable image from the competition.
After Wen Xi closed the car door, he openly and honestly stared at Mo Chen next to him. He felt that his temperament was really ever-changing and irresistibly charming….
Not waiting for him to look at a few more times, Mo Chen had already noticed his gaze, and didn’t even turn his head to ask, “Do I look good?”
“Cough…” Wen Xi looked away, a bit embarrassed.
Right now, as a friend, he thought that he should reply, “Who’s looking at you, you should be a little less narcissistic!” However, he didn’t know why, but he chose to tell the truth, “You do…”
Mo Chen laughed a bit, and Wen Xi didn’t know whether it was because he was satisfied by his answer or if he was laughing at how straightforward he had been.
Or because of both.
Wen Xi could tell from Mo Chen’s laughter that he didn’t mind, but Wen Xi still felt embarrassed. After coughing again, he brusquely changed the subject, “Where are we eating today?”
“I picked a place near your house,” Mo Chen replied, “This way we can save a lot of time.”
“Have you eaten there before?” Wen Xi asked curiously.
Mo Chen let out an “en” and said, “How would I dare to invite you to a place I haven’t eaten at before?”
Saying it like that…
Wen Xi took his cellphone out of his pocket before putting it back. He didn’t know why but he had begun to feel a little nervous.
He had been quite calm when he had walked downstairs previously.
He took his cellphone out again. After playing with it randomly for a bit, he said casually, “It’s pretty embarrassing to always let you pay for our meals, so how about I do it this time?”
“No need,” Mo Chen spoke these two words lightly, but his attitude was very unyielding.
Hearing his resolve, Wen Xi didn’t force him. When he spoke again, he talked about other things, “You can also count as a celebrity. Shouldn’t you wear a mask when you go out?”
This made Mo Chen chuckle. “What kind of celebrity do I count as? I’m just an e-sports player, not a star… Here we are.”
Wen Xi exclaimed, “Eh?! So fast?”
Mo Chen said, “Can’t bear to get out of the car? That’s okay, we can stay in the car a little longer.”
Wen Xi replied, “….Forget it.”
Compared to their last date, the drive was really too short.
Although he didn’t want to admit it, for a moment, Wen Xi really wanted to stay in Mo Chen’s car for the entire date, even if it was just to make conversation with him.
After Mo Chen stopped the car, Wen Xi’s expression didn’t change, but he was totally reluctant to get out.
He followed Mo Chen into a small private room in the restaurant.
Wen Xi found that whenever Mo Chen asked him to have a meal, he liked to book small, private rooms.
Before meeting Mo Chen, besides family gatherings, Wen Xi had never made plans with anyone to eat in a private room.
It felt very strange ah… It was like a date.
——Not a casual date, but the kind between sweethearts.
Wen Xi thought that his and Mo Chen’s meeting should be called a “face-to-face meeting” instead of a date, but he couldn’t look directly at the phrase “face-to-face meeting” anymore, so he called it a date.
After entering the private room, Wen Xi sat down in front of Mo Chen and could finally size him up openly.
Mo Chen’s posture was still as relaxed as last time, carrying a bit of laziness with every movement, and a gentle smile hanging on the corner of his lips. Wen Xi couldn’t see any signs that he was depressed. Mo Chen didn’t look like a person who just lost a competition at all.
Wen Xi didn’t know whether he really didn’t care, or whether he had just temporarily forgotten about it.
In fact, Wen Xi had thought that Mo Chen invited him to dinner in order to comfort him.
However, it seemed that Mo Chen didn’t need any comfort at all, and had really just asked him to dinner to have a meal together.
After Mo Chen ordered the dishes, he propped his head up on his hand. Wen Xi looked at him, and couldn’t help asking, “I haven’t asked, but why did you suddenly want to ask me out again?”
Mo Chen raised an eyebrow, “If I want to ask you out, then I will. Do I need a reason?”
Wen Xi was stunned, and with great effort recovered his senses from the midst of that magnetic voice. He asked, “Why me? Don’t you have other friends? What about your teammates… ”
“Not the same,” Mo Chen interrupted him.
When Wen Xi mentioned the word “teammates,” he was convinced that he saw Mo Chen’s expression stiffen a bit.
Before he could feel surprised, Mo Chen immediately said, “You’re special.”
These words were really too easy to interpret ambiguously… Wen Xi was glad that he hadn’t done any dangerous actions like drinking water as he listened to him speak.
He looked up at Mo Chen a bit helplessly and replied, “You’re always like this…”
“I’m serious,” when Mo Chen talked, he didn’t smile and looked seriously at Wen Xi, “I need you.”
He didn’t wait for Wen Xi to respond and continued, “You’re right, I have other friends besides you. I also have my parents, but they pretty much don’t manage me. I have friends I met in high school, but let alone them, in my entire grade, I’m the only one who decided to play e-sports. Once we decided to walk different paths, we no longer had anything in common to talk about. As for teammates… ” Mo Chen resisted the impulse to sneer, “We usually eat together every day, so why would I ask them to eat out alone?”
“That’s true oh…” Wen Xi said, somewhat carefully observing Mo Chen’s expression.
Although Mo Chen’s tone was still so gentle, Wen Xi could detect his mood change, and suddenly kind of regretted asking that question.
Fortunately, Mo Chen quickly adjusted his mood and looked at Wen Xi with a slight smile, saying, “After thinking back and forth, I realized you are the only one I could ask out. That’s why I said that you’re special to me.”
“……”
Wen Xi still wanted to complain, really.
But in the end, he didn’t say anything and silently took a sip of water.
Mo Chen saw he had remained silent and hesitantly asked, “Does that make you feel uncomfortable?”
Wen Xi said, “Actually, no…”
If it was someone else, then they would feel uncomfortable ba, especially men that were straight as steel. They would definitely feel like those words were too ambiguous.
But Wen Xi… To be honest, he enjoyed it a bit—being special to another person translated to being unique, irreplaceable, and very important to that person.
This feeling of being cherished by someone else made him feel a bit like he was floating…
But he didn’t dare to show it.
Suddenly, Mo Chen threw his bag over to Wen Xi.
Wen Xi took the bag, shooting Mo Chen a puzzled look.
Mo Chen calmly stood up and said, “I’m going to the bathroom, so can you help me watch over my bag.”
“Oh, okay,” Wen Xi let out a sigh of relief while replying.
That had scared him to death. He had thought that Mo Chen’s next sentence would be, “Here, take it, spend all the money inside as you like,” or something.
Sure enough, he was overthinking it.
Wen Xi watched Mo Chen leave the room, and held his bag in his lap with one hand, while picking up his cellphone with his other hand to play for a while.
Just when his mood had improved from playing, he suddenly received a message from Magic Xi.
Magic Xi: I was so sleepy last night that I didn’t watch the livestream, but I watched the whole VOD today. Hehehe, you and Blue Wolf are going to wear women’s clothes?
Wen Xi: …
Wen Xi: We’re only going to wear women’s clothes if we can’t break into the top 30 in the overseas servers in a month.
Magic Xi: Do you think the top 30 in the overseas servers is that easy to break into ya?
Wen Xi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but was disinclined to listen to her.
Even if he didn’t have any objections towards wearing women’s clothing, he didn’t plan to just throw in the towel like that ba?
Magic Xi: A month from, I’ll go to your house and make you up myself~
Wen Xi ….Give up ba. I won’t give you that chance.
Magic Xi: Hahaha, good luck ba! Anyway, when the time comes for make-up, clothes, or wigs, leave it all to me!
Magic Xi: By the way, do you like long hair or short hair?
Wen Xi: …..
Wen Xi was speechless for a while, but finally, digging the hole even deeper, he replied with “long hair” and closed his chat with Magic Xi.
Right when he dimmed his phone’s screen, the light above his head suddenly went dark, giving him a scare!
At the same time, several people exclaimed outside the private room.
“What the… What’s going on?” Wen Xi instinctively grabbed Mo Chen’s bag, before standing up and walking to the door of the private room. He saw a male waiter running past with a toolbox.
A waitress noticed Wen Xi and took the initiative to explain to him, “I’m sorry ah, sir, there was a sudden power outage, but it should be okay. Someone’s already heading over there to fix it…We’re really sorry to have harmed your dining experience.”
“Oh, it’s okay.” After finding out the reason, Wen Xi was relieved.
Although it was daytime, the curtains in the dining room were very thick, and it was really dark in the room when they were closed.
However, Wen Xi wasn’t afraid of the dark. It was because it had become dark so suddenly that he had been given a fright.
He carried Mo Chen’s bag to sit back in his original spot. After opening the curtain a bit, the whole room was bright.
He sat quietly for a while like that, bathed in the light, waiting for Mo Chen to come back.
But Mo Chen never returned.
Why was he taking so long?
Wen Xi helplessly laid on the table, acting dead a bit. Eventually, he realized that their food would definitely be affected if the power was cut off, so waiting here was a waste of time… After hesitating for a while, he finally decided to go find Mo Chen.
“Hello, how can I get to the bathroom?” When Wen Xi left the private room, he didn’t forget to take Mo Chen’s bag.
It was still the waitress from before who pointed out the way for him, “Go down the corridor, turn right, and then there will be a sign you can follow.”
“Okay, thank you.” After thanking her, Wen Xi followed the waitress’ directions and turned the corner. He looked around to check if there was anyone around, before immediately picking up his pace, switching from walking to running as he rushed to the bathroom.
At this time, Wen Xi actually wasn’t worried about Mo Chen. He more so went to go find him because he couldn’t bear the loneliness.
He had even begun to imagine what it would be like when he saw Mo Chen. Maybe Mo Chen would have just washed his hands after going to the toilet, and he would be surprised and ask, “Yi? Why are you here?”
Then he could put up a front and say, “The power went out, and I was a bit worried about you, so I came to pick you up~”
He didn’t know what reaction Mo Chen would have after hearing these words from him 0v0
Wen Xi was very pleased with himself as he thought to himself. He followed the sign into the men’s bathroom, but suddenly saw a figure kneeling on the ground in the dark.
Wen Xi: ???
He didn’t know why there were no windows in the bathroom. It had originally been completely dark inside, but when Wen Xi entered, the door opened a crack and a glimmer of light crawled in, illuminating the person inside.
He was kneeling in a corner of the bathroom, tightly clutching the doorknob of a stall with one hand. He was obviously trying to support himself to stand up, but he couldn’t get up no matter how he tried.
After recognizing the person as Mo Chen, Wen Xi’s eyes widened in disbelief. In the next second, he immediately rushed up to him, randomly setting his bag aside and reaching for his arm in order to help him up.
The moment he grabbed Mo Chen’s arm, Wen Xi could feel his muscles tense, and his body shaking.
“Mo Chen! Mo Chen?!” Wen Xi tried to help Mo Chen up, but Mo Chen resisted him, leaving him completely confused on which direction he should be helping him to stand.
“Mo Chen, what’s wrong with you?! Mo Chen!”
After Wen Xi spoke, the lights suddenly came back on.
Row by row, the lights in the bathroom lit up, leaving the darkness nowhere to hide.
Wen Xi was startled for a bit, and still hadn’t figured out what was going on when he felt Mo Chen’s body relax.
Wen Xi looked at Mo Chen’s face suspiciously, and saw him open his eyes like he was waking up from a dream. His forehead was covered with sweat, just like he had just had a nightmare.
“Mo Chen?” Wen Xi called out tentatively.
Mo Chen breathed a long sigh of relief, and stopped leaning on Wen Xi, using his own legs to stand up.
Wen Xi stood up with him and blinked. He suddenly realized something, “You’re afraid of the dark?”
—
Juurensha: Ooooo backstory time. Also, Xixi was so cute bouncing over to the bathroom. (And also so confident about his crossdressing skills????)
