Chapter 1: The Engagement, and Then the Event That Will Lead to the World's Destruction

"In most fantasy stories, the villains bear an important mission: to help the protagonist grow.

"They diligently create difficulties for the protagonist, tempering their will, strengthening their beliefs, and awakening their talents.

"They force the protagonist into various dire situations, thus 'guiding' them to all sorts of adventures. Whether it's powerful magic, formidable artifacts, or the friendship of companions...

"And in the end, the villains are always defeated by the righteous hero. This is so natural, just like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west."

In the earl's mansion, the morning sunlight filtered through the intricately carved window frames, illuminating the lavishly decorated bedroom. Rogas stood in the room, bathed in the morning light, and murmured to himself.

He stood in front of a full-length mirror, his reflection showing a head of fluffy silver-white hair, soft and lustrous, slightly disheveled and falling over his forehead and neck. His face was that of a handsome young man.

Beside him stood a servant in his thirties, dressed in a simple yet neat white shirt and black trousers, meticulously helping Rogas dress.

The servant's every move exuded steadiness and meticulousness, ensuring that the young master would present the dignity and glory befitting an earl's heir in the upcoming engagement.

As for the young master's mutterings, the servant paid no heed.

Rogas sighed imperceptibly, saying no more.

Just two days ago, he had been sitting in a restaurant, comfortably eating hotpot and singing, when a large truck suddenly burst through the door and charged straight at him.

When he came to, he found himself in this world of swords and magic, reborn as Rogas Bred, the young noble.

Unfortunately, this name, which others might consider a great honor, gave him a headache.

If he could, he would rather be reborn as an ordinary person than bear the tragic fate of this young master.

Thinking of this, Rogas couldn't help but recall the day before he was hit by the truck, when he was playing a role-playing game called "Quartet of the Evening Bell."

The protagonist of the game was a commoner girl named Alice, who, after awakening the bloodline of a saint, gathered various companions and eventually defeated the final boss, saving the world.

Rogas had no particular interest in such games, but the art style was beautiful, and it contained a lot of content that no adult male could resist.

So he played it with a critical eye, getting deeply immersed in the rich plot choices and excellent combat mechanics, eventually completing all endings.

His current name, coincidentally, matched that of a minor villain in the game's prologue, a character who died at the start.

According to his not-so-vague memory, he shouldn't be here, calmly letting the servant dress him and preparing to meet his betrothed.

Instead, he should have resolutely fled the earl's mansion, seeking out his long-admired love, Alice, the game's heroine.

He would then try to take her home and announce to his parents that he had found true love, hoping the family would cancel the engagement.

In the process of forcibly dragging the heroine, he would be beaten or killed by her brother.

Whether he would be disabled or killed depended on the plot's roll.

Regardless, the heroine's brother would be imprisoned and tortured to death in prison, leaving no trace.

The heroine, due to the tragic loss of her family, would awaken the saint's bloodline.

The prologue's ending was predictable; even if Rogas managed to escape, he would still die in the saint's vengeful fury.

This was why he had just sighed about the villain's fate.

Initially, he thought avoiding the death line was simple: just stay away from the heroine.

But this decision brought him a bigger problem!

With a thought, a pale blue light screen appeared before Rogas's eyes, its edges adorned with simple patterns, identical to the game's notification box.

At first, Rogas was delighted, thinking it must be the golden finger every transmigrator needed.

Later, he discovered that the light screen's function was exactly the same as the game's notification box, only providing necessary information and nothing more.

【Survival Task】

【Name: Correct Fate】

【Content: Capture Kevin (the heroine's brother) and ensure he dies within three days due to your actions.】

【Reward: None】

【Punishment: None】

【Note: Due to the deviation in the fate track, Alice may not awaken her bloodline in time, leading the world to an inevitable destruction.】

【Please choose whether to accept】

"Choose my ass! Do I even have a choice? I'm already in the middle of this shit task!" Rogas muttered to himself, not selecting yes or no on the task screen.

Reflecting on his past life, he wasn't a saint, but he was kind-hearted, and even his friends who played P-series games with him praised his noble morals.

Why did he have to face such a fate?

He then asked the servant, "Hans, if I run away from the engagement to save the world, will you help me?"

"For the sake of the gods, please maintain your dignity today, my lord," Hans responded with a bitter smile, continuing his task of dressing Rogas. He carefully arranged a beautifully crafted cravat, placing it neatly at Rogas's collar and smoothing out any wrinkles.

"Lord, I understand your passionate love for Miss Alice, but you should prioritize your family.

"The Earl has said that if you fail to win Miss Alina Dewin's favor, he will hang you from the observatory tower for a week as punishment.

"Of course, if you can quickly have a child with Miss Dewin, I'm sure the Earl will be lenient with you," Hans said, smiling as he helped Rogas into a blue coat with gold trim.

"Have a child? Isn't that a bit much? We're only thirteen..." Rogas replied, speechless, but stopped when he saw Hans's puzzled expression.

Having a child at fourteen wasn't unheard of in this world.

Dressed neatly, Rogas, with a complex heart, followed Hans's footsteps, walking the path that defied fate.

He wasn't without thoughts of escaping the earl's mansion to find Alice, but the best opportunity had passed. As the main character of the mansion, there was no chance of slipping away.

Fortunately, the task's deadline was still within reach; he had three days to find a way.

As for the upcoming meeting, though his body was still that of a young man, his mind was that of an adult, and he had little expectation of his "fiancée."

He only wanted to please the young girl, hoping to use her to leave the earl's mansion and find a chance to complete the task.

Led by Hans, Rogas walked out of the bedroom, through the long corridor, where the light from the windows cut the passage into segments of light and shadow.

After a moment of alternating light and darkness, he stepped out the back door and walked straight into the garden.

A gentle breeze blew, the leaves rustled softly, and colorful flowers bloomed, displaying their vitality.

Seeing this vibrant scene, Rogas felt a surge of confidence as a transmigrator.

With his game memory and the knowledge from his past life, this was just the beginning!

Ignorance is bliss, and the advantage is mine!
