The Republic of San Magnolia is under constant attack from the drones of the neighboring Empire. To counter this, the Republic has developed its own drones, seemingly eliminating the need for human soldiers. However, this is a deceptive facade. In the non-existent Eighty-Sixth district, young men and women, branded with the number "86," fight as human-piloted drones. Shin, a young man leading these soldiers, and Lena, a remote operator, are at the heart of this tragic and glorious war.
