Chapter 9

The next day.

When Vivian opened her eyes, she rubbed her eyes sleepily and was about to get up to make breakfast.

In front of her was already a bowl of fragrant oatmeal.

Then came Soren's smiling face. He held a cast-iron pot in his hand, wearing an apron that looked somewhat comical, and was seriously frying an egg.

"Big brother."

"Isn't this a bit wasteful?"

Vivian took a deep breath of the oil scent, stretched out her small hand to hug Soren's neck, tiptoed to kiss his cheek lightly, and secretly sniffed him, indeed detecting a faint trace of blood. For some reason, since she was very young, she had been abnormally sensitive to the smell of blood, and it was hard for Soren to hide any blood on him from her.

The clever little girl didn't ask more.

She just said a bit regretfully, "Big brother, you used too much oil."

"Frying eggs only needs a little bit of oil. Let me do it next time."

"Look at how much oil is wasted."

After saying that, she sniffed her little nose.

It seemed that just by smelling the oil scent rising from the pot, she already felt very satisfied.

"Alright."

"Little bossy!"

Soren put the not-so-good-looking fried egg into the bowl, reached out to rub Vivian's little head, and said helplessly, "Let you do it next time, okay?"

It was a very rich breakfast.

The fragrant oatmeal tasted excellent, and the fried eggs in the bowl immediately floated a layer of oil on top, along with a few slices of smoked meat.

Just looking at it made one's appetite increase!

This was a breakfast that only the nobles and wealthy merchants in the city could afford. Vivian hadn't eaten such good food for a very long time.

After enjoying this rich breakfast,

the little girl started to tidy up and clean the room, and Soren's clothes also needed to be washed.

Outside, faint voices could be heard.

It seemed that some faces had deliberately passed by this street many times. Soren sat at the door, carving something, holding a dagger with a serious look.

"Sir Soren!"

Finally, a guy who didn't look like a good person came over, somewhat fearfully saying, "Savi thanks you for helping him solve a big problem!"

"So I came to bring a gift."

He waved to the back, and two guys with rough faces timidly came over, presenting a gift box.

Soren looked at them, then gestured to Vivian to accept the gift, and slowly said, "I'll take the gift."

"I'm not interested in the affairs of the slums."

"Whether Savi can take over those streets is his business. As long as he doesn't disturb my life, it's fine."

"Is that okay?"

His voice gradually turned cold, and the dagger in Soren's fingertips turned into a blur.

The leading thug wiped cold sweat, feeling a chill on his neck, and stammered, "N... No problem!..."

"Savi thinks the same!..."

...

In one night,

the core members of the rival gang were all killed!

When Savi received this news, he was almost ecstatic, thinking that those foolish guys had provoked some terrifying enemy.

But when he learned that the person who did it was Soren, Savi's face immediately turned grim.

"Boss!"

A quick-witted thug ran in, panting, "I've found out."

"It seems that Cole threatened Soren and sent people to try to kidnap his sister as a hostage!"

"Everyone on East Ditch Street knows that Soren values his sister more than his life. Cole's plan to target his sister led Soren to kill them!"

"He didn't seem to have done much before, but I didn't expect Soren to be so powerful."

"Now in Cross Alley, they call him the Throat-Cutter. Even the people in the dock area have heard of his reputation. Eleven gang elites were all killed by having their throats slit, and the room was covered in blood."

"Boss."

"Should we take action against him?"

A one-eyed guy looked at the others, hesitating, "Although he's powerful, he's just one person."

"If we let him grow, we might not be able to take over Cross Alley."

Bang!

Savi grabbed something and threw it, hitting the guy in the face, making him bleed. Savi's face turned green, "Take action against him?"

"Are you stupid?"

"He can take out so many of Cole's people in a direct fight. If he ambushes us, we'll all be killed!"

"Don't act rashly."

"Send Doghead Qiang with a gift to see what he means. Since Soren is so powerful, he will eventually leave the slums."

"Who would stay in such a desolate place?"

"Also."

"Send someone to keep an eye on Cross Alley and see if Soren has any intention of taking it over."

"If not,"

"Make sure no one else takes it over."

The subordinates all started to get busy, while Savi's face turned grim as he hesitated, then called out to someone, "Have Doghead Qiang come over. I'll prepare the gift myself."

Since Soren could kill Cole and his men in the middle of the night, he could probably do the same to him.

Such a person is too dangerous!

It's better to try to win his favor first. Savi rose from a street thug to the gang leader because he knew when to yield and when to fight.

Not a single person was left alive.

Even a ruthless gang leader like Savi was somewhat shocked by this. After all, in street fights, deaths and injuries were not common, and they tried to avoid losing their men.

If everyone died, who would fight for them?

Don't think those slum thugs are brainless. If a leader's men kept dying, they wouldn't be foolish enough to join him.

...

It was a quiet morning.

Of course, it was only quiet for Soren. After getting his reply, Savi was overjoyed and immediately ordered his men to gather and prepare to take over the streets near Cross Alley. Since Soren had stated he wasn't interested in the slums, the territory near Cross Alley was up for grabs. Savi gathered hundreds of people, though most were just there to make up the numbers, but there were still over a hundred who could actually fight.

As for how many of these hundred had professional combat training and knew real killing techniques,

don't expect too much!

Gang fights in the slums were not regulated. As long as there wasn't a major disturbance, the death of a dozen people was nothing. So when Savi gathered his men, he quickly took over the territory of Cross Alley.

This place was far inferior to the dock area.

Since the docks controlled nearly half of the wealth flow in Amber City, a territorial change could result in the death of hundreds in a single night!

That was what could shock the entire Amber City.

The slums?

That desolate place with nothing to offer, what's worth paying attention to!

Yes.

People with real power weren't interested in the slums, but they had heard that a powerful person had appeared there recently.

Seemingly called the 'Throat-Cutter' Soren!

It was said that all his enemies were killed by having their throats slit, and he had high prestige in the slums. Although he hadn't joined any gang, all the gang leaders in the slums feared him.

Two days quietly passed.

Even Vivian noticed something was wrong. People around her clearly showed a hint of fear when they looked at her, and they spoke to her timidly.

As for Soren, no one dared to meet his gaze!

"Big brother is much more impressive now!"

Vivian swept the fallen leaves with a broom, looking outside and murmuring, "The person who brought the gift the other day was Savi's subordinate."

"Why would he bring such an expensive gift?"

"I heard that all of Cole's men were killed."

"They were killed by someone called the Throat-Cutter! That Throat-Cutter must be big brother, right?"

"It sounds very powerful!"

"Big brother is much stronger now."

Yesterday, when she passed by the corner grocery store, the plump owner who had beaten her with a stick on her back turned pale when she saw her.

When she confirmed that Vivian was Soren's sister, the plump owner immediately knelt before her, slapping herself until her face was swollen, and only stopped when Vivian promised not to hold a grudge. The store owner even prepared a gift, with over a dozen silver ducats in the box, and respectfully said it was to calm her down!

They were afraid.

Although they were afraid of the 'Throat-Cutter' Soren, this feeling of fear still gave Vivian a bit of enjoyment.

"La la la!"

The little girl hummed a tuneless song, happily cleaning the room, "We are bad guys! We are thugs!"

"They are afraid of us!"

"No one dares to bully us anymore!"

...
