"Right now!"
Er Dongsheng pounced down from above the abyssal snake, striking it squarely on the head.
"Swish!" Like a sharp blade, the demonic claws, aided by gravity, easily tore through the scales on the abyssal snake's head. With a reverse twist, he shattered the snake's head, and simultaneously, the tail pierced the snake's vital point. Regardless of whether the snakes in this world had such a vital point, an extra blow would never hurt.
"Boom!" The massive snake corpse fell to the ground with a thud. The abyssal snake, under Er Dongsheng's swift attack, didn't even have time to react before it met its end!
Er Dongsheng quickly jumped off the snake's body, moving his slightly numb limbs, feeling a bit fearful.
"It seems I still lack experience. The surface of this snake is actually toxic and can cause paralysis, and its scales couldn't even block it. Fortunately, the attack was swift, or the consequences would have been unimaginable!"
After a moment's thought, Er Dongsheng turned and walked to the male Velociraptor that had first fallen unconscious. He quickly stabbed the raptor's head several times with his sharp tail. The unconscious raptor twitched a few times and then died completely.
"Indeed, this Velociraptor wasn't killed by the poison. It seems the abyssal snake's venom isn't lethal, but rather paralyzing."
"Rumble, rumble"
The thunder in the sky grew louder, and the wind of the abyss slowly began to blow. The forest was gradually enveloped in a thick gray mist, signaling the imminent arrival of the abyssal rainy season.
Er Dongsheng turned and ran towards the fallen tree. Although food was important, there was something even more crucial waiting for him. The fire on the tree had diminished significantly, and it wouldn't be long before the raging flames were extinguished.
Running to the center of the tree that hadn't been completely burned, he struck the tree with his scaly claws, causing sparks to fly.
Abyssal fire pits are usually very low, but for some reason, the demon body Er Dongsheng inhabited had an unusual preference for high temperatures. Ordinary high-temperature flames had no effect on him.
"Swish, swish" After a few strikes, the charred outer layer of the tree scattered. For some reason, the bark of these abyssal trees, while incredibly hard when alive, became easily penetrable by ordinary sharp objects after death.
In no time, a large hole was dug to the center of the tree, revealing a milky white cylindrical object about one meter long and half a meter in diameter. This object was connected to the tree by countless fiber-like structures and was still emitting a faint white light. Inside, it was filled with numerous large, crown-like veins, resembling a biological heart.
"Right, this is it!" Er Dongsheng looked at the object, which was taller than himself, with excitement.
However, the surroundings were fraught with danger, and there was no time for detailed observation. He swung his claws vigorously, and in a short while, the section of the tree containing the white substance was cut out. Despite his small size, he lifted the tree trunk with one hand and began running towards his cave.
Passing by the abyssal snake's corpse, he glanced at it briefly and then ran forward without hesitation.
"I'll come back to deal with these things later. If I'm lucky, they'll still be here!"
"Boom, boom" The thunder grew louder.
The wind also intensified, howling in his ears. Er Dongsheng used all his strength and reached his cave in less than ten minutes...
"Pant, pant, damn, I'm so tired!" Breathing heavily, Er Dongsheng placed the tree trunk and rested for a moment before returning to the abyssal snake.
Fortunately, everything was still there, and no other creatures had arrived yet.
This time, he returned with a large basket on his back, which he had spent a lot of time weaving from the roots of dead vines. It was his proudest work in three years.
First, he went to the Velociraptor corpses, using his claws and tail to quickly remove the inedible parts. Not all abyssal creatures were edible; for example, the internal organs and heads of Velociraptors were inedible. However, this was due to Er Dongsheng's pickiness as an internal martial arts practitioner. For most abyssal creatures, any food was good enough, and no one would be choosy. The powerful digestive systems of abyssal creatures could handle anything.
However, Er Dongsheng didn't want to waste so much food, as wasting food in the abyss was the most despicable act. But he hadn't anticipated such a large harvest before the hunt, so his preparations were insufficient. For example, the honey powder used to mask the blood smell was severely lacking.
Honey powder was a substance Er Dongsheng used to cover the smell of blood, made from various abyssal flower pollens with a strong, sweet scent that could effectively mask the smell of blood.
He began piling the cut meat on large leaves, taking out a small wooden box from the basket, which contained the honey powder.
He reluctantly grabbed a large handful of honey powder, then put some back, as it was difficult to collect. He gently pinched some and quickly spread it on the meat. Soon, the pile of meat on the leaves was covered, and the strong blood smell was replaced by a sweet fragrance.
"Cough, cough"
"No matter how many times I smell it, it's still uncomfortable. It's too strong!" His nose and eyes were streaming, and he couldn't stop it.
He rolled the leaves with the meat and placed them in the basket. The large basket, already heavy, creaked under the weight, and some branches seemed to break!
Looking at the pile of meat in the basket, Er Dongsheng frowned. He wasn't worried about the branches breaking; he had struggled to break them before, and the thought of it still made his hands hurt. But...
"The frozen leaves are also running out. I'll have to venture out again soon!"
He put the basket on his back and walked to the abyssal snake. Looking at the creature, Er Dongsheng was a bit speechless.
Despite the abyssal snake's massive size and ample meat, it was toxic. Who would dare eat it? Its entire body was poisonous, and eating it would be suicidal. Even ordinary abyssal creatures avoided the corpse of an abyssal snake.
Er Dongsheng knew that venomous snakes could be eaten if the toxins were neutralized by high temperatures, but he couldn't carry any more food, so he reluctantly gave up this second-rate food.
"Sometimes, things can be abandoned, but sometimes they can't." He quickly cut open the snake's body along the dragon line on its belly and began searching through it.
The dragon line, according to the initial memories he inherited, was a symbol of evolution for abyssal snakes. When a dragon line ran through one side of the belly, the snake would be recognized by the abyss and evolve into an abyssal demon. However, he wasn't sure if this was true.
Holding the black object with a faint green glow, Er Dongsheng was very satisfied. Each abyssal creature had its essence, and this was the essence of the abyssal snake, hidden in the gallbladder, a true nourishing substance.
After a moment's thought, he carefully removed the venom sac from the snake's head. The paralyzing toxin was rare and might be useful later.
"It's time to leave. The abyssal rainy season is coming, and I need to prepare properly."
Er Dongsheng left without looking back.
"Aooww"
In the distance, a hunter, drawn by the scent of blood, arrived.
