"Rumble, rumble,"
"Swish, swish..."
After a long period of brewing, the rain from the abyss finally arrived, marking the beginning of the abyssal rainy season. This ended the drought that had lasted for three years. The rain would continue for a week, and what the weather would be like after that week depended on the mood of the great abyss.
However, it was generally a cycle of three years of drought followed by a week of rain, and then another three years of drought. In Er Dongsheng’s memory, there were sometimes a few months of extremely cold weather, with snow, to adjust the climate... awkward.
When Er Dongsheng first came to this body, the rainy season had already ended. The original owner of this body, with his low intelligence, had never thought about storing water. He had lived through the years in a daze, and for him, it didn’t matter whether there was water or not. However, this made life very difficult for Er Dongsheng, who had to endure three years without water.
Although most demons hardly needed water, especially those of the abyssal kind, who could get enough moisture from ordinary food, the key was that he had a human soul. He wanted to drink meat broth, bone broth, and even broth made from unknown bird eggs, but alas, he had no water.
He also wanted to take a bath. Although he had discovered early on that the gray scales covering his body had a strong self-cleaning ability and didn’t require bathing, he still wanted to take a bath.
Unfortunately, over the past three years, he had ventured out to search for water sources, but due to his limited strength, he didn’t dare to go far. From the cave, he had traveled about twelve to thirteen days in each direction—east, west, north, and south—without finding any lakes or rivers. So, he had no choice but to give up and return to the cave, hoping to explore further once he became stronger.
Standing not far from the cave entrance, drenched in the rain, he held a small wooden basin in his hands and placed a stone food bowl at his feet. The wooden basin and stone bowl were actually just a large piece of wood or stone with the center hollowed out to form a basin.
The wooden basin was used to catch some rainwater to quench his thirst and make soup. The stone bowl was for catching water to boil and take a hot bath.
"Glug, glug" He drank several large gulps of water, and the long-term thirst vanished instantly.
It felt so refreshing, his whole body tingling with satisfaction. He hadn’t realized how much he had missed water until he lost it. For three years, or rather, for the past dozen years, this body hadn’t had such a satisfying drink.
Speaking of age, the creatures of the abyss, whether ordinary or abyssal, were a long-lived race. Without external factors, living for several thousand years was quite normal. In the abyss, he had seen all kinds of deaths, but never a natural one due to old age.
There was a legend in the abyss that a long, long time ago, a great demon lord led a large group of demons and abyssal creatures to attack the sunlit plane. They encountered a being called a deity, who was said to control the rules of time. This powerful being, after killing many demons, sacrificed most of its life to cast a spell called the Time Cage on the demon lord, which was said to rapidly drain the remaining life of any creature trapped within it.
Then, nothing happened. The demon lord looked at the being in surprise and asked, "What were you doing just now? Self-mutilating?"
The deity died from spitting blood.
Although this might be a joke, the long lifespan of abyssal creatures was an undeniable fact.
In that case, Er Dongsheng, at just a dozen years old, was still a newborn in the abyss.
The powerful demons in the abyss were solitary creatures, and even the young ones were no exception. Er Dongsheng was one of these demons, having lived alone for the past dozen years. Therefore, he had no idea what the outside world was like.
Feeling that boiling water was too much trouble, Er Dongsheng simply moved the stone bowl to the side of the fire, leaned against the fire, and lay in the stone bowl. He didn’t know why, but he always felt a bit fond of fire and a bit averse to water.
"Probably because I haven’t seen water in a long time!"
Relaxing in the water, the gentle flow caressed his body, smooth and fine, like a young girl’s hand gently stroking him. The slight aversion he had felt earlier was instantly forgotten.
"Damn, this is so comfortable! This is what life is all about!"
