Mr Shao…

Mr Shao!

The summer breeze slapped his cheeks and the heat steamed his heart.

A road led off into the distance, lined with grass and flowers and the air seemed to have a sweet smell.

Yu Lan rode his bike fast. The world in his eyes was colourful.

He could do nothing but shout in his heart over and over again. Mr Shao, Mr Shao!

He understood that there could be no eternal companionship between that man and himself.

But that one phrase was enough.

Yu Lan had never felt so happy.

Since Yu Lan was going to and from class by himself, no matter what time he left in the morning and came back in the evening, they will change.

When Teacher Bai found out, she sped up the pace of his studies so that he could finish class early- Yu Lan could keep up anyways.

During the lunch break, instead of taking a break, Yu Lan rode his bike around.

It was also at this time that he just realised he seemed to turn back on the street.

Yu Lan wasn’t too used to so much attention, but that was probably a necessary part of being part of society, he thought while making himself try to get used to it.

After leaving class early, he noticed a fast food restaurant on his way back, hesitated and stopped.

He had noticed this store a few times before when he was being driven to and from class.

His heart was a little itchy and after considering it, he gathered his courage and walked in.

The register was at the door and the cashier, standing in the back playing on their phone, sensed someone coming in and casually said, “Welcome, what can I get you?”

Yu Lan walked over and anxiously said, “I saw the recruitment notice outside.”

The cashier looked up at the sound, then opened his eyes wide. Damn, a super beauty!

After five minutes-

Yu Lan sat down in a small office where a tall beta smiled kindly and poured him a cup of tea.

“Thanks.” Yu Lan was a little nervous and held the somewhat hot paper cup in his hand after receiving it.

The beta sat down and surveyed him, looking very pleased. “How about you briefly introduce yourself first?”

Yu Lan sat upright and introduced his name, age and the position he wanted to apply for.

He had seen that the store was looking for evening waiters, and while he had classes during the day, he was able to work for money at night.

However, after his introduction, the beta boss hadn’t reacted and dryly smiled. “Huh, that’s it?”

Name, age, position and that’s it?

Yu Lan carefully said, “Is there anything else you would like to know?”

The boss dryly smiled, “Are you in school? Have you had previous internship experience?”

Yu Lan shook his head and hesitantly said, “No.”

“No?” The bosses smile became even drier. “Uh, you’re probably in university right now… you haven’t graduated right?”

“…” Yu Lan lowered his head. “I’m not in university…”

He was being taught privately…

The boss continued to smile dryly. “Then… a high school diploma?”

Yu Lan shook his head.

The boss wiped his sweat, “Middle school? Primary school?”

Yu Lan, “…”

“…” The boss, “Can you read?”

Yu Lan raised his head, his eyes bright and nodded his head.

The boss finally felt like he could catch his breath.

“I’ll be diligent!” Yu Lan tried to add some points for himself.

The boss’s mouth twitched. He thought and wondered, “If you weren’t studying before, what were you doing? Don’t you even have a little work experience?”

Yu Lan was startled.

The boss thought the kid in front of him was handsome and he liked him at first glance, but he was 22 years old, has no diploma, no work experience and looked quite young. He didn’t know how good he was at his job and how good he was at handling things. He couldn’t just hire this guy off of his face and him saying “I’ll be diligent”. It was too unreliable.

Even though they were only hiring a waiter, let’s be honest, there were so many applicants. As a recruiter, it wouldn’t be hard for them to hire a college student to clean the tables.

And when confronted with the boss’s question, Yu Lan couldn’t answer at all and only curled his fingers tightly.

Seeing him like this, the boss was suddenly dull.

A beauty was a beauty but forget it.

Yu Lan walked out of the restaurant and stayed on the spot for a while.

Although this thought came out of nowhere, he now felt a bit reluctant.

A moment later, he composed his face, got on his bike and when around for another spin.

Going to a cake shop, he took a deep breath and walked in.

And this time the shopkeeper came out of the back, looked him up and down and narrowed their eyes. “What’s your name?”

Yu Lan quickly said, “My name is Yu Lan and I’m 22 years old this year.”

The shopkeeper indifferently said, “You’re from the Silver Moon clan, aren’t you?”

Yu Lan nodded.

Immediately, several of the store’s shopkeeper’s couldn’t help but look over at him.

Yu Lan became uncomfortable, “Um…”

The shopkeeper straightforwardly said, “Our shop does not hire people from the Silver Moon clan, apologies.”

Yu Lan was at a loss. “W-why?”

“Don’t you know the Silver Moon clan’s reputation yourself?” The shopkeeper re-entered the back after saying that, while the others in the shop looked at each other, stuck out their tongues, smiled stealthily and turned back, doing their own thing, none of them paying any attention to Yu Lan, as if he was not there.

Yu Lan stood inside the store and felt his face burn when he heard the door open and a customer walked in. He turned around stiffly and left.

It was getting darker and the temperature had dropped back down a bit so it wasn’t as hot as it was in the afternoon.

Yu Lan was about to go on his bike to leave, but he moved and instead of getting on, he sat down on the curb.

Twenty-two years. Six years in the orphanage and the next sixteen in a cage.

For Yu Lan, there was no clear distinction between the two periods.

Because his world had been dark.

He also heard the traffickers mentioning the “Silver Moon clan.”

Among the omegas that were imprisoned, there were several others besides Yu Lan who were also from the Silver Moon Clan and their surnames were Yu.

What kind of existence the Silver Moon clan was, not being able to contact the outside world, no one was quite sure. They were only vaguely aware that the Silver Moon clan members were all omegas, or that all children born to members of the Silver Moon clan who were omegas would be surnamed Yu and classified as part of the Silver Moon clan.

Their main feature was their outstanding appearance.

Apart from this?

Who knows.

It was just the trafficker couple muttered from time to time, “The members of the Silver Moon clan can sell for a little more.”

The man among them would also look at him with a gaze that made Yu Lan nauseous, as he smiled and said, “This one is definitely the best among them.”

In fact, until today, Yu Lan had been insensitive to the words Silver Moon clan.

But the reaction of the owner and the shopkeeper in the cake shop just now made him aware of something.

The hot breeze blew away some of Yu Lan’s embarrassment, loss, and awkwardness. Instead, doubts arose in his mind.

Suddenly, several bicycles passed by and one of them stopped.

Yu Lan looked up and saw Teacher Bai’s brother, Bai Lu, the omega who always rolled his eyes at him.

“Why are you still here and not back?” Bai Lu asked, suspicious.

Bai Lu looked behind him and saw the recruitment notice in front of the cake shop, suddenly remembering that this guy seemed to have been visiting some job sites before.

Bai Lu sneered and said, “You want a job?”

Yu Lan glanced at him, still silent, and held the bike handles.

Bai Lu scoffed and said, “You can’t find it, can you? Do you think a job is so easy to find with no diploma, no work experience? The bosses don’t have to hire you no matter how low the demand is. You can only be a flower vase even if you get taken in, hahaha- shit, what are you doing!”

t/n: correct me if I’m wrong, but the flower vase is possibly referring that he will just be decoration, just for show if taken in. Idk that’s just my interpretation.

Yu Lan was originally trying to get on his bike, but when he heard Bai Lu’s laughter, his leg dropped straight down and kicked his bike, almost causing Bai Lu to flip over.

Yu Lan glared at him. This person is so annoying!

Bai Lu quickly balanced himself and angrily said, “What have I said wrong? Those bosses must not be hiring you because of those reasons, okay!”

Yu Lan simply had nothing to say to him, got on his bike to leave and Bai Lu called out to him again, “Hey!”

Once Yu Lan stopped, he turned around and continued to stare at him.

Bai Lu snorted, curled his lips and raised his chin to the right.

Across the wide street were three towering spires.

This was the S-class urban planet of the First Class Star Realm and this entire city was almost centred around it. The place where most people gathered, bustling and noisy.

“Do you know who owns those three towers?” Bai Lu asked.

Yu Lan was suspicious.

Bai Lu rolled his eyes and said, “Mr Shao does.”

Yu Lan was stunned.

Bai Lu was a little envious and irritated and said, “If you really want to work and earn money, you can just talk to him and you’ll be allowed in. A good job can’t be given to you but miscellaneous tasks are fine. There’s no need for you to come outside and look for one, idiot.”

After that, he got on his bicycle and left.

The tower was already lit up, two huge holographic screens unfurling in the air on either side of it. It was a city view, with countless people standing under the tower snapping pictures and checking it out, the cheering melting into one.

Across the street, Yu Lan stood by his bike, silently looking up.
