The Scale of a Candle Dragon
Ni Jiaxue was convinced that the appearance of the boss and the boss’s friend was free hype given to “Small World”. She tapped the camera, signalling the other party to point the camera at the Pei Shiyi and the other.
Pei Shiyi glanced at Bao Jin, who had walked up to him, and turned to Ni Jiaxue and smiled, “It’s been really hard on you to make this trip on such a hot day, please have a seat.”
He led the programme team to sit in the quieter corner of the cat cafe, the desserts and drinks that were prepared in a pinch were already on the coffee table.
Wearing the cat cafe’s soft slippers, Ni Jiaxue smelt the sweet aroma in the air and looked at the decoration of the cat cafe.
At first glance, she couldn’t help but marvel- it was so dreamy! It wasn’t just a European fairytale style, but was also indescribably sweet. With not too many decorations, every piece was just right, and it was clear and fresh at a glance. The cats were light on their feet, stepping on the soft cushions, and there were the clingy ones who rubbed up against the customers and lied down on the spot. There were the indifferent ones, who walked slowly through the store, patrolling their territory.
This cat cafe perfectly fit the perfect image of a cat cafe in Ni Jiaxue’s mind.
This one had a much better atmosphere than the one she had visited this morning. People and cats walked through the exquisitely decorated shop without feeling the least bit out of place, whereas in that shop in the morning, the decor was indeed beautiful, but once people walked in, the whole picture was ruined, the decor lacked resonance with people and lost the soul in itself.
Watching the ragdoll cat run past in front of her and dive headfirst into the arms of another furball, it elicited kind smiles from those around her; the leopard cat jumping from a high table to a low one, startling the girls, and the handsome cat cafe owner gently poking the cat’s head, the leopard cat purring twice and obediently hugging the owner’s hand and rubbing it from side to side.
Ni Jiaxue heartily praised, “Your cat cafe has such a nice atmosphere.”
Pei Shiyi was pampered by Copper Coin, internally thinking that it was natural, but on the surface, he smiled at Ni Jiaxue. “I’m flattered.”
Ni Jiaxue chatted about the cat cafe with Pei Shiyi and Kong Fanyang, during which she kept writing and drawing in her little notebook, jotting down a full page before closing the notebook and informing the cameraman to begin shooting.
Pei Shiyi stood up. “If you need anything, please feel free to come and see me.”
Ni Jiaxue had just taken a sip of her coffee and smiled as she covered the corner of her mouth with a tissue. “Then I’ll take you up on that.”
Are you kidding? Of course we need to get the boss in more scenes! How else can we earn traffic? How can they get attention? Their show was not popular with the youngsters, so if they didn’t have a hit, they’ll be out of business!
Ni Jiaxue called the cameraman and started filming, Kong Fanyang hurriedly followed him out.
When Pei Shiyi saw her walking away, he said to Bao Jin, “That cameraman in the blue top, do you know him?”
Bao Jin shook his head.
Pei Shiyi raised his chin. “Then why don’t you hurry up and check? That man is full of miscellaneous demonic aura, I don’t know how many demons he has harmed. I’ll say something ugly beforehand, if he dares to be reckless in this cat cafe, I’ll skin him alive.”
Bao Jin glanced at him and lazily said, “Got it.”
Pei Shiyi was disgusted to death. “It’s summer, can you be a little more energetic?”
Bao Jin calmly said, “I can’t.” It wasn’t up to him to decide whether he was sleepy or not, not to mention that he was already very sleepy and restrained around Pei Shiyi. If he was in the office, he could sleep from clocking in to clocking out.
Pei Shiyi rubbed his brow. Bao Jin being sleepy himself was fine, but he was also particularly infectious. As soon as he started to get sleepy, the people and cats around him could not help but follow suit. They would be lazy and unmotivated, even Pei Shiyi was not an exception.
Who knows why a godlike creature like Pei Shiyi, who would not be sleepy once he was out of his infancy, would doze off.
Pei Shiyi feebly said, “Are you a snake?”
Bao Jin, “Snakes don’t get sleepy in the summer.”
Pei Shiyi, “…You mean you’re not even as good as a snake?” As expected of a candle dragon, crazy enough to curse even himself.
Bao Jin said lightly, “I suggest you take some language tutoring, what I mean is that I’m not a snake.”
……
“This lamp is really beautiful, did Mr Kong make it?”
“Yes, because I could never find the style I wanted online or in physical shops, so I simply did it myself.”
……
Zhu Heng was carrying the camera, full of the faintly floating aura in the cat cafe, and almost threw the camera aside, but he remembered that he was a human being for the time being and needed to work to support himself, so he didn’t lose his mind on the spot.
He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, intoxicated and confused: It was so strange, why was there such pure spiritual energy here? Could it be that there were some heavenly treasures?
Zhu Heng licked his teeth lightly and tried to sense the source of the aura, however, it was scattered in all directions and evenly throughout the cat café, making it difficult to identify the source.
Zhu Heng was reluctant, but he had to deal with work now, so he decided to come back in the evening to find out what was going on.
Oblivious to what had entered her team, Ni Jiaxue was still listening to Kong Fanyang’s presentation of the design concept. Ni Jiaxue gestured to the cameraman to take more pictures of the relaxed cats in the shop.
Egg Yolk has been eyeing Ni Jiaxue’s group for a long time. When he saw her approaching, he quickly took two steps and sat on his butt at Ni Jiaxue’s feet, looking up at her and called out quietly, “Meow-”
He could see that this beautiful woman was definitely the most vocal and dominant person in the team. The others in the team were all calling her “Director Ni”, so she must be the director of the programme! If he could impress the director, there would definitely be benefits.
The dedicated Sponge Cake followed suit and fell onto Ni Jiaxue’s other shoe, his front paws hugging Ni Jiaxue’s ankles, his round face next to Ni Jiaxue and his green eyes were like a deep, but they were clear.
Even though she was not a cat slave, Ni Jiaxue’s heart trembled with the two little cuties leaning on her.
Look how cute and rubbable these two big faces were!
Ni Jiaxue held back her excitement and brought the conversation to the cats.
Kong Fanyang knew what she meant, so he followed Ni Jiaxue’s lead and carried on the conversation topic.
Egg Yolk enjoyed Ni Jiaxue’s touch when he suddenly felt a malicious gaze fall on him. He hesitantly turned around and met the gaze of the cameraman, who could have pounced on him and eaten him alive instantly.
The salivating mouth made Egg Yolk shiver.
Egg Yolk thought: This isn’t okay, he’ll have to talk to the boss alone later, there’s something wrong with this guy!
Zhu Heng’s mind was spinning fast. He didn’t expect this cat cafe to have a cat demon, a small demon that remained in its original form in the cat cafe, and looked like it couldn’t transform! This was a great tonic, and one should never let go when one met it.
He followed Ni Jiaxue around the cat cafe and soon photographed all five cats. With each cat he saw, Zhu Heng inwardly became excited: There were actually so many cat demons in this inconspicuous little cat cafe!
The snow-white cat demon’s cultivation was particularly impressive.
In the eyes of ordinary people, these were cute and pampered kittens, but in Zhu Heng’s eyes, they were great tonics.
Zhu Heng made up his mind and was more attentive when filming- he had to remember the layout inside the cat cafe so that he could easily come in and tie up the cats tonight. The big white one must be very good tonic and would be perfect for making wine, the two yellow one was fat and suitable for air-drying, the leopard-like one can be stir-fried, and the weakest one left… is sure to be tender in soup!
Ni Jiaxue only felt that this overseas gilded cameraman was particularly active, shooting cats and the cat cafe alike, and was particularly sharp.
Ni Jiaxue’s eyes showed her appreciation, and when it came to the part where Pei Shiyi was involved in the design, Ni Jiaxue looked at Pei Shiyi who had been smiling and accompanying them.
“How did you then think of putting such an ornament here?” Ni Jiaxue smiled, “It really was the finishing touch.”
As she spoke, she signalled to the camera: Film! Film his face! Film the boss’s friend as well!
……
The program team filmed for more than four hours before finishing and they left as the cat cafe was about to close. Pei Shiyi sent away the program team, and as he just closed the door, Egg Yolk came over. “Boss, that camera-”
Pei Shiyi tapped his nose. “Don’t worry, I know.”
The yolk purred and crawled onto Pei Shiyi.
Pei Shiyi let him grab his trousers and shirt and climb all the way up to his shoulders as Zhou Yan, who was passing by, snapped a picture and said, “Boss, isn’t he heavy?”
Pei Shiyi pet the cat and said, “I think maybe you’re too skinny.”
Zhou Yan, as a young Internet addict, rode a shared bike from home to the cat cafe every day and that was the maximum amount of exercise he did. He had a face that looked like it lacked calcium, which really didn’t match up with health.
Zhou Yan was very unconvinced. “I think you are kind of like me, boss, just taller!”
It was true that Pei Shiyi was lean, but he wasn’t a human being. Strength had little to do with appearance, and besides, he just looked thin when he was dressed.
“That’s all the more reason for you to reflect on why I can hold Egg Yolk but you can’t.”
Pei Shiyi slowly said.
Zhou Yan painfully said, “It’s obviously Egg Yolk that’s too fat. A normal person’s shoulders wouldn’t be able to handle it and would be crushed into one high shoulder and one low shoulder!”
Egg Yolk rose up in anger, stepped on Pei Shiyi’s shoulder, stomped on his hind paws and crashed head-first into Zhou Yan’s arms.
Xiao Zhou, who was caught off guard: !
This was like the unbearable weight of life!
Zhou Yan, who had suffered a “major blow”, was eventually helped back by a colleague walking by. While Egg Yolk ate steamed lobster meat, he complained, “Am I really that heavy?”
Yun Chao, who basically wouldn’t eat after dinner, heard that and said, “How do you not have any shame asking that question?”
With a roll of his tongue, Egg Yolk licked the bowl clean and humbly laid down.
It so happened that Sponge Cake squeezed in next to Yun Chao, who looked down and lightly licked the tip of Sponge Cake’s ear. “Don’t follow his example, that middle-aged greasy uncle cat.”
Sponge Cake had always liked this beautiful, celestial and fragrant older sister. He nodded obediently and nestled next to Fondant, who moved over to lick him.
Bao Jin walked over with Copper Coin in his arms, leaned down and rubbed Sponge Cake’s fur and said, “I can’t go back tonight, can Pine Cake stay at the cat cafe for the night? I’ll come and keep you company in the morning.”
Copper Coin hung lifelessly on Bao Jin’s arm, his tongue half out, pretending he’s a stuffed animal.
Sponge Cake looked sympathetically at Copper Coin and nodded knowingly. “Okay, I’ll wait for the chief at the cat cafe.”
Pei Shiyi smiled and said, “Does Muffin want to come over and sleep with me today?”
Sponge Cake said, “Sir, I’m no longer a child.”
“Alright, alright.” Pei Shiyi couldn’t keep in his smile. “Our Sponge Cake is a big baby, no longer small.”
Sponge Cake blushed, his head buried in Fondant’s soft fur, his ears were licked over and over by Fondant and he couldn’t care less.
Bao Jin put down Copper Coin and gestured for Pei Shiyi to follow him out, waiting for Pei Shiyi to gently close the cat cafe door before saying, “Pay attention tonight.” The cameraman who came with the group obviously had bad intentions and was bound to make a mess of things in the next few nights.
Pei Shiyi looked back at the cat cafe, his eyes softening as he said, “Don’t worry, I’m watching.” No matter what, he couldn’t let anything happen to the fur kids.
Bao Jin followed his gaze over to the cat cafe, where the seven fluffy ones were limp together, and the two small tortoiseshells that had been detained upstairs had now come downstairs, bouncing around on the big cats without upsetting them. The lights were a faint yellow and the blankets and tablecloths cut soft shadows. Bao Jin squinted, a little sleepy.
Bao Jin lazily said, “Call me anytime you need something.”
He held out his hand, a green and black dragon scale lying in his palm.
The scale of a candle dragon.
