Stealing Cats
Dragon scales and phoenix feathers have always been rare treasures in the world, and they have a special meaning for dragons and phoenixes.
At least, Pei Shiyi would not just casually give away his feather. Phoenix’s had always had the habit of collecting fallen feathers and using them to decorate their room if they got married.
Pei Shiyi naturally also saved a large handful. He may not drop a feather for more than a hundred years, therefore they were precious to a great extent and he has never given one out. But Bao Jin…
Suddenly he remembered that young people were complaining on the internet that they were “losing their hair and going bald”, and he was startled- Bao Jin wouldn’t be losing his scales at such a young age, would he?
Pei Shiyi had a bit of sympathy in his eyes, not only did he not pick a fight, but he also raised his hand and patted Bao Jin on the shoulder. “Alright, thanks.”
This was a miracle, like the sun had come out from the west.
Bao Jin lowered his eyes and swept a glance over Pei Shiyi’s hand, then averted his gaze. “I’ll get going.”
Pei Shiyi withdrew his hand and gave a wave. “I’m going back in.”
Turning around after saying that, he locked the door of the cat cafe without looking back.
As soon as he closed the door, Fondant rolled up to him.
Pei Shiyi picked her up, squeezed all four paws and looked at them one by one to make sure that the fur did not grow to the point where Fondant slipped before he put her down.
As a ragdoll dog, Fondant loved to interact with customers. She and Copper Coin were the most athletic in the cat cafe, and Fondant was a long-haired cat, so it’s easy for her to slip if the fur in her paw wasn’t trimmed in time.
This is something that Pei Shiyi learned after studying the care of long-haired cats.
Fondant curled around Pei Shiyi’s legs and purred softly.
It wasn’t enough that the little clingy girl had been stuck with someone all day, she also wanted to stick to her boss after work at night.
Pei Shiyi was stuck to her and couldn’t leave, so he leaned over and said with a smile, “Does Fondant want to bath?”
Fondant, as a newly-refined kitty, of course, did not like bathing, wanly letting go of Pei Shiyi and lying down in front of Yun Chao with a meow: Ying.
Pei Shiyi walked up to the second floor, followed by a string of furballs and the two small tortoiseshells on Egg Yolk’s back and while going upstairs, he said worriedly, “Boss, do we need a cat to keep watch tonight?”
Pei Shiyi raised his eyebrows. “Keep watch? Why keep watch?”
Yun Chao walked beside him and said, “Egg yolk should be worried about the man who came in during the day today, the man who handled the camera had a very mixed demonic aura, but the smell was still human and the demonic aura on him obviously came from the wrong place. I saw the way he looked at all the cats in the cat cafe after he came in…greed.”
Fondant didn’t quite understand, but heard a bit of gloominess in Yun Chao’s tone and couldn’t resist snuggling over to be licked soothingly on the ear by Yunchao.
Pei Shiyi smiled. “I’m here, rest well, nothing will happen.”
Copper Coin jumped up and down, climbed up the handrail before aiming for Pei Shiyi’s shoulder and launched himself over with a stomp. “Boss!”
Pei Shiyi steadily caught him. “Hm?”
Copper Coin wagged his tail and said excitedly, “We’d better keep watch downstairs tonight, what if the man has bad intentions?”
Pei Shiyi pinched Copper Coin’s ear and said with amusement, “You just want to play, don’t you?”
Copper Coin twitched his ears and smirked. However as soon as Copper Coin’s unreliable idea was raised, several fluffy’s eyes lit up, even Yun Chao, who was always steady, was no exception.
True, to expect a creature like a cat to be much more stable, wasn’t that a pipe dream?
Pei Shiyi shook his head, but of course, he couldn’t agree to these little bastards who were watching and sleeping downstairs; that cameraman might not come, and even if he did, he might bring others with him.
Copper Coin licked his mouth and regretfully said, “All right.”
Pei Shiyi showered and tidied up the cat’s den.
Today was the first time that Sponge Cake had spent the night in the cat cafe. The bed was freshly taken out, not as comfortable as the one he was used to sleeping in, and there was also a subtle smell of a new object, which was torture for a divine beast with a keen sense of smell. Pei Shiyi was worried that Sponge Cake would not get used to it.
Egg Yolk said, “Sponge Cake, come sleep with me.”
His one was an oversized hamburger cat nest, soft and airy.
Yun Chao’s “Queen’s couch” was next to little Fondant’s “Princess bed” and she mocked, “Do you have room for Sponge Cake?”
Don’t squeeze the child to the point he can’t grow.
The yolk sucked his stomach and glanced at Yun Chao sadly. But what Yun Chao said was true, the two little tortoiseshells were clung to him so much, but they had to crawl back into their nest at night to sleep.
Copper Coin’s den was pushed onto the shelf by himself, and he had to go up a flight of stairs when the other cats came in the door.
Pei Shiyi watched them nestle into their nests one by one before turning off the lights. “Good night.”
Seven pairs of big, shiny eyes opened in the six cat nests, and from them came the voices in unison. “Good night, boss.”
Poor Fondant and the little tortoiseshell who couldn’t talk, “Meow-”
Pei Shiyi lost his smile and gently closed the door.
……
An unknown corner of Yu Chuan City
“Are you sure you saw it right? That cat cafe is full of cat demons?”
Zhen Zhizhang gripped the cup in his hand tightly.
Zhu Heng drained his beer in one gulp and said, “You can’t tell in the video, but could I still lie to you?”
Zhen Zhizhang hesitated. “How can a normal person raise so many cat demons, are you sure all the people in the cat cafe are normal humans? I’ve heard that we have quite a lot of capable people in our country, but it’s not the same as abroad.”
Zhu Heng said, “How can I not pay attention to this? Don’t worry, they’re all ordinary people. The boss is a handsome man, tall but skinny, not to mention capable of anything, probably not even good at fighting. The key is the cats, I have prepared drugged meat. When the time comes, throw it in, the cats will eat it and fall down, then we will just carry it away.”
The boss was not as difficult as the cats. Those were not ordinary cats, Zhu Heng himself was certainly unable to fight and could only tonight do enough to prepare for a sneak attack. It’s better to take down the cat quietly. For this, he bought a lot of imported foreign goods and put it into the meat to ensure that the cat would be hungry when they smelt it and fall down in one bite.
All without alerting the human boss; after all, ordinary people were of no use and can cause a cascade of trouble. If it were not for Zhu Heng who was afraid of making mistakes alone, he would never be willing to find someone to share his benefits with.
Zhen Zhizhang’s heart was moved, yet he still had a somewhat thin moral sense that the act was stealing, and he was indecisive for a moment.
Zhu Heng said, “All you have to do is watch out for me, and you will get one after the job is done. That’s a cat demon, even if you don’t use it to supplement your body, it’s still a sought-after item abroad.”
The scales in Yan Zhizhang’s mind were tilting more and more.
Zhu Heng said, “Think about it, that cat cafe owner was just an ordinary person. If we let him keep the demon, wouldn’t that be harming him? We are not stealing, we are looking out for the safety of ordinary people.”
Zhen Zhizhang gritted his teeth. “Okay! You’re right!”
He was doing it for the safety of humanity!
The two of them got together a few times, prepared themselves well and quietly set off for the cat cafe. The time was timed by Zhu Heng, arriving at the Cat Cafe at exactly 2 am, when most people were in a deep sleep.
The lights were out in the cat café, the windows were locked and the curtains are drawn, so you couldn’t see inside at all.
Because of his nervousness, Yan Zhizhang kept gulping and his hand trembled as he picked the lock.
Zhu Heng pressed himself against the wall and listened for a while, but there was not a single sound inside. He pushed aside Zhen Zhizhang and put his hand on the door lock, only to see a faint red light flashing, and the door of the cat cafe opened quietly.
Zhu Heng waited in place for a few minutes, but there was still no movement. He couldn’t help but show a smug expression- it was true that a psychic like him, who was already out of the realm of ordinary people, could do anything with ease.
He pulled the prepared meat out of his pocket and catapulted himself into the cat cafe, a smell that no human could smell spread through the cat cafe, Zhu Heng turned back and urged, “Don’t hesitate, just stuff the cat into the bag if you catch it, it won’t suffocate.”
Second Floor
Yun Chao stretched out in her cat’s nest and licked her front paws gracefully.
Silently, Egg Yolk picked up the two small tortoiseshells and retreated into his nest. As he lied down, Egg Yolk glanced at the cat climbing frame overhead; Copper Coin’s nest had long since been empty.
The two little tortoiseshells had caught the scent and were just about to call out when they were decisively patted into the nest by Egg Yolk. “Meow.” Sleep.
When Yun Chao looked around, Fondant and Sponge Cake were sleeping soundly, and the usually solemn little Bian was letting out a pink tongue and sleeping in a daze.
A little smile appeared in Yun Chao’s eyes as he waved his fluffy tail and squeezed through the doorway.
A little smile appeared in Yun Chao’s eyes as she waved her fluffy tail and squeezed through the doorway.
Yun Chao sat down in place, waiting for the fool to get himself killed.
Unaware that the “prey” had woken up, Zhu Heng was holding the meat and calling out quietly, “Mi. Mi…”
Copper Coin sat on the armrest and thought: “Mi your aunt, do you really think I am a cat?
He jumped off the handrail and appeared in front of Zhu Heng, watching with interest as the other man held a piece of meat, still dripping with blood, in front of him.
Zhu Heng whispered, “Mi. Mi come, come and eat the meat.”
He cut the meat with his knife, and blood gushed out, all dripping onto the carpet of the cat cafe.
The fishy smell of blood made him physically unhappy, as Copper was used to the fresh fruity smell of the cat cafe, the rich creamy smell or the drowsy smell of the blazing sun on Pei Shiyi.
There were also bloodstains…The owner will go crazy.
Copper Coin narrowed his eyes and popped his claws out, about to walk over to finish off the eyesore when he suddenly noticed there was actually a dry, thin man with a bag in the doorway. He immediately changed his mind, walked over and pretended to take a bite, barfed and fell to the ground, and twitched a few times, as if he had passed out.
The acting skills beat a bunch of newbies.
Zhu Heng was ecstatic and thought: It really works! An animal was an animal and had no brains hahaha.
He picked up Copper Coin and gestured for Zhen Zhizhang to hurry over and bag them, while he himself pulled out another piece of meat and slowly walked towards the second floor.
Zhen Zhizhang trembled as he approached, his fingers had just touched the leopard cat’s smooth fur when the cat, whose eyes were tightly closed, suddenly opened, his eyes reflecting the cold moonlight, and he cracked his mouth open to reveal a sharp-toothed smile.
Good evening, beanpole.
Zhen Zhizhang’s soul flew away and he screamed out at the top of his lungs.
Zhu Heng was so frightened that his foot slipped and he fell to the ground with a loud bang that echoed through the cat cafe.
With so much noise, unless one is deaf, even a dead man would have to get up.
He slowly raised his head, at some point several plush figures had crouched in front of the stairs, their backs to the moonlight, casting black silhouettes on the wooden floor, pairs of bright eyes burning into his own.
Zhu Heng heard a sigh, and he looked over at the sound of the voice. In the light of the cold moon, there was a man sitting on the handrail on the second floor, wearing a black silk shirt and trousers with a slightly open collar, his skin as cold and white as the moonlight.
The man propped one hand on his jaw and shot him an interested glance. “I heard you were going to steal my cat?”
