Little Bastards

The open box was covered with a thick blanket and inside lied a litter of six kittens.

They were unweaned poor little things, only the size of a palm, with blue membranes in their eyes that have not yet faded and blue eyes that seemed like they were going to water.

The boxes landed on the floor, making the kittens huddle together.

There was a very lively little dragon li cat that found its way to Pei Shiyi, tilting its head and meowing, softly complaining like it was saying: Why weren’t you a little more gentle?

Pei Shiyi gently stroked the little dragon li. The young cat’s fluffy fur was soft, and the force of its head rubbing against Pei Shiyi’s palm was so small that it could be ignored.

Pei Shiyi softly said, “I’m sorry.”

Although he had deliberately lowered the hat, he didn’t expect to bump into a litter of kittens.

The little dragon li trailed his finger. “Mi-”

The big golden retriever crouched in front of the cat’s litter couldn’t help but smile silly.

The kittens were so wonderful, it was worth it today even if I broke my legs running.

Miss Penny’s eyes peeled over the basket and reached inside, her eyes relieved. If she could save the cubs, it didn’t matter if she was bitten by the dog.

Miss Penny was a Norwegian forest cat with gorgeous long thick fur and a big fluffy tail. Her movements were as light as an elf in the snow, and she had a pair of eyes like a winter lake.

Unlike Yun Chao’s cold, fairy-like aura, Penny’s temperament leaned more towards the spiritual and mysterious.

Pei Shiyi’s heart moved slightly – speaking of which, there was a serious imbalance in the ratio of men to women at the cat cafe, and there were actually only two cute little girls, which was not conducive to internal harmony at the cat cafe.

Penny looked over at Pei Shiyi and spoke excellent Mandarin. “Thank you for your help, they were all stolen and robbed by unlawful means, and if they were sent away, they would face life without freedom. Even if they returned to their mothers now they would probably be discarded. I know it’s a lot to ask, but I really can’t look after so many cats on my own, I can pay for their food and drink, I just hope you can give them a temporary home.”

As an older person, she was certainly not as steady and thoughtful as a young cat, and her words were spoken with gentleness and sincerity.

Pei Shiyi gently pet the spot between Penny’s ears and said softly, “I will definitely give them a home. But this is the first time I’ve taken care of such small kittens, so I’d like to ask Miss Penny for more guidance.”

It had been a long time since someone had touched her so gently. Penny lingered on the touch and couldn’t help but rub lightly against Pei Shiyi’s hand, a soft purr escaping from her throat. “Thank you.”

Pei Shiyi faintly smiled.

With such a great atmosphere at Xian Chan Cat Cafe, he didn’t believe he couldn’t keep the cat.

EggYolk couldn’t hold back his dad heart, so he carefully climbed into the cat litter and caged the cubs next to his belly, giving them a loving lick one by one.

Egg Yolk’s rounded belly gave the kittens a great sense of security and the kitten’s quiet meows weakened.

One of the kittens was squeezed out by the others, trying his best to get into the plush pile while yowling.

Egg Yolk’s heart ached and said, “Boss, they’re hungry, let’s go and fill them up with milk. And Miss Penny, it’s time to get some medicine, do you want to get a rabies shot?”

How lovely to have so many cubs that are milky and cute.

When the kittens are older and weaned, they can set up a special section for the kittens, separated from the other areas by a glass wall, so that customers can suck on the kittens through the air and the cat staff can also suck on the cubs.

Who wouldn’t want to suck a kitten?

Just thinking about it is beautiful.

Egg Yolk lied flat on his back and allowed the kittens to stomp on him and pounce on his tail.

Pei Shiyi simply picked up the litter with the cats.

The kittens, sensing his scent, purred more sharply than before, picking at the nest and turning out of it on their still weak little legs, being dragged back by the back of their necks onto Egg Yolk’s belly.

Egg Yolk patted his tail to attract the attention of the kittens before they climbed out and disturbed Pei Shiyi.

The golden retriever hurriedly said, “The chief should already be coming this way, these two people I’m looking at…”

Pei Shiyi heard the footsteps long before the golden retriever spoke and gestured to the golden hair to be silent.

The golden retriever held back a bark.

The sound of hurried footsteps came closer and closer, followed by the familiar figure of Pei Shiyi at the entrance of the alley.

Bao Jin’s face was not good, his stature was too tall, his gaze was habitually drooping, his lips were pursed. Although he still looked like he was lovingly sleepy, Pei Shiyi could keenly catch the displeasure he was vaguely radiating.

Pei Shiyi understood- the closing of the net messed up, and they even specifically called to ask for help from his nemesis, very disgraceful and anyone else would be upset, it was normal.

Pei Shiyi coughed and paced to Bao Jin’s side. He had just harvested a basket of kittens and was in a good mood, looking at Bao Jin pleased. Not only did he talk to him in a rare good tone, he even put his free hand on Bao Jin’s shoulder. “Although you owe me a favour this time, there’s no need to be embarrassed.”

Bao Jin, “?”

With which eye did he see that he was embarrassed.

Bao Jin opened his mouth, but was interrupted by Pei Shiyi. “There is no need to thank me, you don’t have to be so polite with me, just give me the cats.”

Bao Jin, “?” Who’s going to be polite with you?

Director Bao peeled away Pei Shiyi’s paws and as soon as he opened his mouth, his words were drowned out by the clutter of footsteps and human voices-

“This is the alley! I saw them turn in!”

“My god, walk faster, the dog is big so don’t let it bite poeple. That dogs owner as well, why didn’t he hold on to it!”

“That man must have nerves of steel, he dares to go in alone!”

The security squad leader was guided by a group of enthusiastic people to the alleyway where the dog had gone. He stood at the entrance of the alleyway and his heart thumped. He remembered that the alleyway was sealed and there was no way to get in. If a person was blocked by two large dogs in an alleyway, they would be…

He quickened his pace and waved his hand to signal to his colleagues, “Come on, come on, follow, all hurry up and get in!”

The squad leader ran all the way into the alley, ready to see a bloody scene, and took a deep breath and looked up- only to see two tall, thin young men standing intact, not to mention bloodied, even their skin was untouched.

The squad leader looked around and found a panting dog and a limp foreign strong man in the corner, he hesitantly stopped in his tracks- no, how did it look like the victim was now the dog and the dog’s owner…

He regarded the strong man as the owner of the dog.

As soon as the crowd saw Pei Shiyi, they hurriedly said, “Yes, yes, it’s this young man.”

Security Squad Leader, “Hello, two large dogs just ran in, did you suffer any personal injuries? Do you need to contact the hospital immediately?”

Pei Shiyi faced the mobile phone lens of the enthusiastic crowd, silent for a moment, and made things up on the spot. “It’s okay, I’m not hurt, I opened cat cafe and am always good at dealing with pets. Hm… I saw this dog in the cat cafe that seemed to be out of control and was worried that it had hurt its owner, so I rushed over to take a look… Oh, the dog owner was jumped by the dog and seemed to be terrified.”

He couldn’t help but think that the owner of the cat cafe is a force to be reckoned with, fighting single-handedly and making a grown man and a dog cry was not a setting that fit his identity, maybe he should change it.

Bo Jin internally thought, “The dog owner” was clearly scared by the bird.

No wonder, he opened a cat cafe, so he must be very popular with pets.

The security squad leader accepted the explanation smoothly and smiled, “That’s fine, it’s good that the person is okay, I’ll take this brother to the security booth for some hot water, I see he seems to be scared out of his mind. And this dog… I’ll take away too.”

Bao Jin said indifferently, “No can do, he is suspected of being involved in the city’s recent mega theft case, the main target being expensive breeds of pets, the amount involved is huge and has been handed over to our department.”

Bao Jin drew out his ID and handed it to the security squad leader.

The AMB was an official body associated with the human government sector and such documents used to deal with humans are also available.

It’s true that there had been many lost pets in Yu Chuan recently, even the local TV station reported it, and the head of the security squad even lost a beautiful British short hair, and was immediately furious. “So that’s it! No wonder someone said that this man came in with the golden retriever and another cat, this was to get it back! Disgusting! I think both dogs are probably not his, he must have stolen them from someone else’s house!”

The squad leader handed the papers back to Bao Jin. “You must deal with them seriously, comrade!”

Those who had lost their cats and dogs followed the condemnation, with some bold ones approaching Bao Jin to ask if their dogs and cats could still be found.

Bao Jin answered one by one, and when those who were watching and those who were asking about business left together, it was already half an hour later. He turned around and found that Pei Shiyi had already left with his cat at some point, and the bureau’s silly golden retriever had actually left him, the director, behind and followed him.

Leaving the half-dead grey wolf and the strong man behind.

Bao Jin took a deep breath, rubbed his brow heavily and informed Bai Jue to come and take away both the person and the dog, while he took a step towards the cat cafe. There were so many cats, Pei Shiyi might not be able to take care of them, so he could go over and help (and sniff them).

The lights came on on the ground floor of the cat cafe and the kittens were taken out of their boxes and were lying on the mats drinking milk. The cat cafes fluffs sat around the mat in a circle, lying down and watching. Amongst them the big golden retriever stood out, with Mao Mao lying on top of its head, looking down at the kittens from above.

Dai Dai had a craving for milk, and the smell of it made him hungry, so he went over to lick the saucer that the kittens had not drank from.

Copper Coin, “They’re so small, I don’t even dare to touch them, can they really grow up being this small? Ah- Yun Chao what are you hitting me for?”

Yun Chao withdrew her paw and glanced at him, “Unlucky.”

Egg Yolk couldn’t be bothered to be nice, “You deserve it, do you know how to speak properly?”

Copper Coin realised afterwards what he had said and hurriedly covered his mouth. “…I was wrong.”

For her part, Fondant dragged a box of her own toys and pushed them in front of the kittens, her eyes shining as she waited for them to pick them out.

Pei Shiyi was administering medicine to Miss Penny when he heard the commotion and laughed, “Fondant, they’re still young and won’t be playing with that now.”

Fondant pawed at the box, “Meow!” Then when they’re older, I’ll teach them to play.

Pei Shiyi, “Good, our Fondant is the sweetest and most gentle.”

Fondant stepped on her leg and stuck over to rub her face, calling out to Penny again, “Mimi.” Don’t be scared, I’ll give the wound a puff and it won’t hurt.

She moved up to Penny and wanted to give her a lick, but was hurriedly held against her head by Pei Shiyi. “The wound is smeared with medicine, you can’t lick it. Mm, your Mr Bao is here, go and ask him to cook you some midnight snacks.”

When Pei Shiyi went upstairs to get the medicine box just now, Yun Chao wanted to lick Penny’s wounds, but luckily Pei Shiyi came down just in time and talked her out of it. It was better to hurry up and find something for these loving little bastards to do before they ran off to lick the golden retriever again.

Bao Jin, who had just entered, “…”

He looked back at the street and thought he might as well go back to the AMB.

Fondant trotted over and circled around Bao Jin. “Mimimi.” Are you really cooking a midnight snack? Can I have dried fish?

Copper Coin’s eyes shined brightly and peeked at Bao Jin.

Bao Jin, “…”

Little bastards raised by a bastard bird.
