Distributing Flyers and Taste Testing

This booklet of ID photos instantly made Kong Fanyang think of the little blackboard recruiting cats outside the cat cafe. The two things gave off the same feeling!

Although the ID photo was taken properly, it did not clash with the overall atmosphere of the cat cafe. The booklet casing was a carved thin wood panel, finely wrapped around the edges. The cover had fluttering butterflies and cats painted on it, the overall colour scheme was fantastic.

Opening to the inside page, the staff cat’s face was too good, and with other decorations, it directly broke the seriousness of the photo IDs. On the contrary, the blue background showed the cuteness of their pretend seriousness.

Pei Shiyi seriously said, “This is the introduction of our cat cafe staff.”

The more serious he was, the more Kong Fanyang wanted to laugh. Hugging Fondant, he burst out like a dying goose. “…I, I-I’m not laughing, I just, just think it’s too cute hahaha.”

Fondant didn’t understand why he was laughing and stared at him blankly. “Meow?” Do I look ugly in the photo?

Pei Shiyi turned to another page of the album. Unlike the “ID photos” that were a few centimetres long, this page only a large size photo. It was of Fondant.

The snow-white fairy wore a pink lace collar, sleeping sweetly. The beige blanket under her was covered in all sorts of pastry toys. A fluffy paw pressed a macaron toy, revealing a little pink toe pad. The quiet beauty of the years emanates unrestrainedly from the corners of the photos.

Kong Fanyang’s laughter came to an abrupt halt.

What a peerless little fairy, she’s too sweet!

Still laughing? Laugh my ass!

Kong Fanyang was in a trance and hugged the fairy cat in his arms. “Boss, forgive the ignorance of mortals like me.”

Kong FanYang took many pictures in the cat cafe and went back, “By the way, boss, I have a design competition and would like to use the theme of the cat cafe style. I thought I would miss the competition this time, but I did not expect to make this style, so can you let me use the cat cafe as material to register? Don’t worry, I’ll definitely add your name to it, and if we win, we’ll split the prize in half.”

Kon Fanyang nervously asked, “Is it alright?”

Pei Shiyi, “Of course, you can, if you want material directly photo it.”

Kong Fanyang was grateful and took out his camera, which he had prepared long ago, and climbed high and low to get a good shot.

He was busy all morning just taking pictures. Pei Shiyi saw him work hard all morning, invited him to eat morning tea and gave him some of the cat cafes desserts when he left.

“It’s been hard on you to come over so early, eat something sweet to ease the pain.”

Pei Shiyi tied on a bow on the box, took an acrylic decorative kitten and pinned it to the box.

Kong Fanyang was moved and accepted it. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t eaten expensive pastry from others before, but he didn’t know why, he would feel flattered no matter what this boss gave him.

And this was very considerate. He did get a little hungry after taking so many pictures.

Pei Shiyi smiled as he sent Kong Fanyang away. It had just past 9:30 when the Long Que came over behind Bao Jin.

There was news on the recruitment Pei Shiyi had asked of her.

As soon as the Long Que entered the door, she did not have time to talk about business and was stunned by the brand new storefront. “Have I gone to the wrong place…” This environment was too sweet, too celestial!

She thought the elder would decorate the place in a Chinese style, but she didn’t expect it to look like this!

Bright and warm, the same feeling that the elder gave.

Pei Shiyi said, “Of course you didn’t. Come on in, it’s sunny outside.”

The Long Que, “Huh?” It’s only May. It’s still cloudy today, and the temperature was perfect even for humans.

Bao Jin was already familiar with the place and went in. During the cat cafe’s renovation, he also came every day. He had seen the cat cafe’s changes every day, so of course, it wasn’t unusual for him to face a completed cat cafe.

Pei Shiyi had a problem with his proficient posture, it was like he was entering his own house, but considering that there were ladies present, he finally decided to ignore him. His gaze swept over Bao Jin but was attracted by the fluff ball in his arms.

“Hold on.”

Pei Shiyi reached out his arm to stop Bao Jin and slowly turned to Bao Jin.

Bo Jin’s eyes dropped. In terms of Pei Shiyi’s body size, he was a little too thin. His chest was thin and his bone structure seemed to have not grown. His wrist bone clearly shows a few harshnesses and his left-hand ring finger had an obvious red ring mark, which made his skin more cold and white.

Just looking at his appearance, Pei Shiyi was actually the kind that easily aroused compassion.

His gaze was so direct that he could also see the dead.

Pei Shiyi suddenly lifted his eyes and glanced at him, smirking, “What. Is the director suddenly obsessed with my beauty today?”

This person opened his mouth and immediately broke the “poor cutie” look, becoming lively and solid.

Bao Jin, “Well, you are cute when you’re not talking.”

Pei Shiyi straightened up expressionlessly. “Right back at you.”

But faced with the little dumpling in Bao Jin’s arms, he immediately regained his spring-like expression.

The small dumpling had loose fur and far looked like a freshly baked cupcake from a distance. Its colour was like golden honey, with a pair of dark green round eyes and its face was big and looked good to the touch, but it was the opposite and it had a very serious expression. Although it looked young, it was sitting very upright and was as serious as can be.

He looked a lot like a golden British shorthair, a very beautiful little boy.

The Long Que hurriedly said, “He is a Bi An. His nickname is Sponge Cake, real name Lu Zhang. Elder, you call him Sponge Cake with us.”

Bi An, one of the nine sons of the dragon was shaped like a fierce tiger. He was able to distinguish between loyalty and treachery and was cynical by nature. With today’s scarce spiritual energy, he was also an extremely rare divine object, how could he be taken out so casually? Moreover, according to Pei Shiyi’s eyesight, he could naturally see that this little Bi An called Sponge Cake was of pure blood, but was innately weak and was not in good health.

Wasn’t this more of a reason to protect him?

Pei Shiyi gave the Long Que a puzzled look.

The Long Que hurriedly explained, “There’s only him left in his family. Although he’s still small, in the end, he is still a Bi An. He was weak in the womb. In the short term, it is best to have the dragon aura to maintain him, but…”

She looked embarrassed. “Elder, you also know, such divine beasts like dragons and phoenixes are rare now. Most of those we can find are single, they cannot raise themselves let alone a child. We could not find a particularly suitable dragon for a while and had to entrust the child to the director… And the director is coming here… So…”

Pei Shiyi leaned over, the Long Que was still talking, but he had already gotten Sponge Cake in his arms. Sponge Cake was still small and the fur on his body maintained the unique softness of a kitten. When Spong Cake grows up, his beautiful fur will no longer be soft, but firmer and harder and the black pattern will be completely visible. At that time, Sponge Cake would become a big tiger.

“So you’re giving him to me to raise for two months?” Bao Jin will stay with him for two more months, after which he and Bao Jin will end this mutual torture.

“No, no.” The Long Que hurriedly shook his head. “Sponge Cake is in a special situation. His body is not suitable for kindergarten until it is stabilized and he cannot be completely protected from other creatures, so we thought that if Sponge Cake could adapt, he could try here and attend full daycare class here.”

Even if Bao Jin did not stay in the cat cafe all day, there would be Pei Shiyi. The phoenix is a real auspicious beast and with the blessing of the other, Sponge Cake and Pei Shiyi spending time together may not be worse than being kept by the director all day.

Pei Shiyi said, “Hello Sponge Cake, my name is Pei Shiyi. I am the owner of this cat cafe. There are several other older brothers and sisters here, would you like to meet with them?”

With the Long Que’s consideration, Pei Shiyi was also very clear- as a young Bi An, no matter how precocious and serious Sponge Cake is, he also has to make friends, otherwise, when he grows up and wants to enter human society, he will face the problem of socialization. Besides, he’s such a cute cat, what would he do if he were to have the same personality as Bao Jin?

The Long Que looked at Sponge Cake with anticipation and whispered, “Go, baby! Don’t be afraid.”

Sponge Cake had a serious little fluffy face and thanked the Long Que’s tone of encouraging small children. “…Thanks auntie, I’m not afraid.”

Pei Shiyi waved to the few big cats who had been hiding on the stairs and peeking out early in the morning. “A new kid came. Come down and take a look.”

Copper Coin did not expect to have been discovered. With a slip of the foot, he suddenly fell down from the crack in stairs, fell on all fours, and hurriedly stood up as if nothing happened.

Sponge Cake also noticed such a big commotion. Glancing at Copper Coin, his eyes reveal a faint dislike: This elder brother seems a little stupid…

Yun Chao then slowly walked down the stairs. She was all like a cloud of long hair, which made the eyes of the Long Que, who had never seen her, lit up.

Immediately behind Yun Chao was Egg Yolk, who became a wet nurse*, carrying two tortoiseshells down.

(*T/N: Obviously, Egg Yolk can’t be an actual wet nurse bc he’s male, but it means he is their wet nurse bc he feeds them.)

Fondant, who fell asleep on the bar, hadn’t even opened her eyes, yet she rubbed Pei Shiyi’s cuff lightly.

The Long Que looked at the several cats that came over to look at the little Bi An in surprise, then realised that unknowingly, the cat cafe already had so many cats. “There are actually already many cats… Is your cat cafe ready to open?”

Pei Shiyi sat on a high stool, one hand propped on his face gazing at several cats in a circle, smiling as he turned to her and said, “Yes, the pastry chef and waiter were interviewed yesterday and we will open next week.”

He created an official account for the cat cafe on the communication platform, released some photos and also learned to do a little publicity. Their main target was the university in the next city. There was no shortage of young students with money and time, and they like to catch up with the trend, so coming to the cat cafe was definitely a good way for them to spend their time.

The Long Que was dumbfounded, not expecting Pei Shiyi to be ready so soon.

However, upon a closer look, it revealed that the cat cafe had indeed entered the state of being ready to open opening.

The signboard had been changed. The four words “Xian Chan Cat Cafe” was in mint green. The background colour made it feel fresh, relaxed and fun, which naturally spread out. Passing pedestrians could not help but stop to take pictures for a while.

The curtains were all drawn and the distinctive decoration had attracted passersby to probe and even knock on the door to ask when it would open.

There was still the aroma of baked desserts in the air. Those were desserts on the menu that the chef was familiar in the back kitchen. There were clean eating plates on the table. These were from the part-time workers who had taken them out to give people a taste…

“Let’s leave them and Sponge Cake alone for a while.” Pei Shiyi brought out a matcha crepe cake from the chef and handed Bao Jin a pile of flyers with a smile. “You come with me and hand out flyers.”

The Long Que looked horrified.

Bao Jin, “…And if I don’t go?”

Pei Shiyi slowly raised his eyebrows. “Does that mean you’ll resist until death? There is no point, your family Sponge Cake is here with me. But I can be a little more forgiving to the employees’ families. You invite others to try this and I’ll go hand out flyers.”

Bao Jin, “…”

The Long Que was even more frightened: Will they really not fight?

Bao Jin thought for a while with his eyes downcast, choosing between the choices of “take the child now, leave and never be able to see cats again” and “help send out flyers once for the sake of the rare animal with no one to rely on” for a few seconds, finally gave in and chose the latter.

So a few minutes later, two extraordinarily striking young people came out the cat cafe one after the other. The young man handing out flyers smiled and was soon surrounded by a group of girls.

……

Kong Fanyang returned home with the smell of a cat and really was rewarded a series of kicks by the master. Kong Fanyang didn’t care about coaxing and went into the studio to open the retouching software.

He took twenty or so photos in one go, and had a hard time selecting the photos for proper retouching- he thought each one was beautiful, but he couldn’t put them all on, so how could he pick them?

In the end, Kong Fanyang reluctantly chose a few photos from which he felt the were best and posted them on the website.

As for the rest of the photos, he also retouched them and uploaded them to his work account.

As a well-known interior designer, Kong Fanyang had always followed the modern simple style, but over time he himself had become bored with this style, so he went on vacation to find inspiration, but did not expect to see the cat cafe renovation online.

Kong Fanyang was a senior cat slave and want to try a new style, so after reading the boss’s request, he immediately agreed.

He himself didn’t think that it would turn out so well.

After sending the photos, Kong Fanyang hugged his still angry master contently and fell asleep in bed.

Kong Panyang slept until the afternoon, became hungry and got up to get food. He had just picked up his phone ready to order take-out and was shocked by the pile of messages on the phone screen.

What happened after he fell asleep?

Kong Fanyang didn’t care about brushing his teeth and washing his face, he picked up his phone and immediately clicked on each individual reply.

There weren’t any messages from his parents, but his master had sent a dozen messages asking him if his soul was swapped or reborn and how his style had changed so much. The rest of the pile were various classmates and former work colleagues sending inquiries, asking him what kind of place he renovated.

So Kong Fanyang peacefully replied to the master first: No (sweating emoji), this is a cat cafe. I will probably be beaten by the boss if I renovated using my previous style.

Master: It really is a cat cafe! Where is this place! I have to go see this environment!

Kong Fanyang was bombarded by his master for a few minutes and quickly explained the opening time of the cat cafe and its address, he finally even sent his pictures of the cats.

Master: My word! How can that big white cat be so pretty! What cat is it? Is it a chinchilla cat?

Kong Fanyang quickly replied: No, that is the lion cat, a breed from our country, but it seems that we can’t find pure breeds now. This one is really good, this cat is more beautiful than in the photo.

Master: It’s too beautiful, how could I have not noticed that cats could be this pretty before, I can’t, I have to go look at the cats and the renovation next week!

Kong Fanyang earnestly replied: Then I will accompany you, Master.

After coaxing his master, Kong Fanyang put on his slippers and went to the refrigerator to take out the dessert. He took a bite and was surprised by the thickness and sweetness of the cream- the taste was no different to the cake shop he usually went to. As a cat cafe, the taste of this dessert could be said to be very stunning.

Kong Fanyang’s intention to advertise the cat cafe became firm, such delicious desserts and even good cats, of course you should go! How could it be buried?!

He took his phone and re-entered his account. He posted the address of the cat cafe along with its opening information on his homepage and even posted a photo of the cupcake he had eaten more than half of. He also attached two or three pictures of the cats, began to sell Amway with his work account and also made a group chat with a few fans for the official cat cafe.

Many following this account of his were classmates and colleagues. The percentage of active followers was very high and not long after he sent it out, there were comments at the bottom, mainly asking about the renovation.

The design of the cat cafe was so beautiful. It’s hard to say whether it’s European or Chinese. It was dreamy and unique, completely different to Kong Fanyan’s previous design style.

Kong Fanyang went through the comments, of which there were already many people saying that they must also check out the cat cafe’s renovation.

Kong Fanyang took a sip of his drink, smiling with a deep sense of merit and fame.
