Chapter 10 of 32

9 - Going To The Meadow

4 min read942 words

Reinya was squeezed by a group of girls who seemed to be vaguely curious about her.

Now she’s in my arms with a pouty expression on her face.

That’s right, the hunt.

I bowed to the man who was guarding the gate, who was looking at me worriedly because I was surrounded by girls, and walked past him.

The ones he was particularly worried about were me, Aya, and the twins, four of the smallest girls in the group.

Taku and Senri, who were martial arts students and sensitive to people’s movements, noticed this.

They also bowed their heads.

◇

“Taku.”

“Yeah, this side of the meadow has slimes, the other side has dogs and rabbits.”

It’s not just the subject, it’s the name, and it gets the intent, as usual.

In the meantime, let’s measure our strength.

Taku LV3 Status: Hungry

Weapon: Iron sword

Yumi LV1 Status:

Weapon: Staff

Senri LV1 Status:

Weapon: Iron sword

Aya LV2 Status: Hungry

Weapon: Iron sword

Miyu LV2 Status: Hungry

Weapon: Iron sword

Yuri LV2 Status: Hungry

Weapon: Spear

Kyouka LV2 Status: Hungry

Weapon: Staff

Rikka LV2 Status: Hungry

Weapon: Cane

Reina LV? Status:

I’m the only one who doesn’t have a weapon. Is everyone still hungry? I can’t see Reina’s level. But that’s okay.

It is also a good opportunity to see what effect hunger has on the body.

The first thing we encountered was a slime.

Rather than an encounter, it was just walking around in the meadow.

Petite Slime LV?

There was only one, and by the way, the party consisted of me, Reina, Taku, Yumi, Senri and the three sisters.

I took the opportunity to observe the slime.

It was about the size of the palm of my hand. Its body is shaking and looks soft.

There’s an octahedron crystal floating in the center. 1

“Let’s do it then.”

Taku then pulled out his sword, which he held in a very elegant manner.

The blow that Taku swung down was as sharp and snappy as ever.

The slime seemed to avoid it, but Taku corrected its trajectory and his attack was well-aimed, cutting the slime’s crystals in half.

The slime that lost its crystals lost its shape and spread out on the ground, where Taku thrust his knife, his initial equipment.

“[Drop]”

As Taku muttered this, the slime’s body glowed and disappeared as if it were collapsing.

The only thing left behind was a crystal of slime, about the size of a quarter.

“Hey, Taku.”

“Nn? What’s up?”

I killed a slime that came close to me just in time by cutting its crystals in half.

“I don’t know what I did”

As I said this, I picked up the crystal with the slime’s bodily fluids on it.

“Here.”

Shaking the crystal lightly, I brushed off the liquid that was stuck to it and held it out to Taku.

“Should I pick it up normally?”

I appraised Taku’s and my own.

Petite Slime Core Quality:F Rarity:2 Durability:E

Note: The heart of a petite slime, broken into quarters.

Petite Slime Core Quality:E Rarity:2 Durability:E

Note: The heart of a petite slime split in half.

“I see, that was a blind spot.”

After all, Taku and I are both lacking in some way. I’ll have to be careful, too.

◇

It seems that drop is a dismantling skill.

If you use [Drop], you can get the materials without having to freeze, bleed or skin the dog, rabbit, or other animal on your own.

The reason why he used the dismantling skill on the slime, which was already in a material state, was because he thought it wouldn’t be turned into an item if he didn’t use it in the first place…

…Maa, some people are no good when it comes to killing them, and they wouldn’t usually think of dismantling them on their own.

If there’s a dismantling skill there, it might be natural to think that it will be used.

After that, the hunting didn’t go as smoothly.

It was dusk, so our visibility was poor, and the prey was small and hid behind the grass.

Suddenly, I remembered that one of the books I had been reading had a magic that allowed me to see in the dark.

I spoke to Reina in a quiet voice.

“Reinya, can you use night vision magic?”

I asked her that, but she turned her head away. It seems that I shouldn’t have abandoned her.

As I was wondering what to do, I noticed that Reinya started whispering something in a small voice.

“Give the guidance of darkness to those who walk the dark road. [The Dark Eye]”

When Reinya finished saying it, the dark magic flowed out from her and disappeared into everyone’s body.

Then the grassland, which had been almost dominated by the darkness of the night, instantly regained its brightness.

Everyone was shouting in surprise.

Reinya then started whispering again.

“Blessing of the fire to the fierce. [Power Enhancement]”

This time, fire magic flowed out and went into us.

I was strangely filled with power.

“Blessing of the wind to those who run. [Agility Enhancement]”

Next came the magic of wind, which made me feel light.

“Earthly blessings for the kind-hearted. [Enhanced Defense Guard Up]”

“Water blessings for the wise, [Mental Enhancement]”

Then came earth, water, and so on.

“The big one’s coming, nya.”

“Mm?”

TL/N: In geometry, an octahedron (plural: octahedra, octahedrons) is a polyhedron with eight faces, twelve edges, and six vertices. The term is most commonly used to refer to the regular octahedron, a Platonic solid composed of eight equilateral triangles, four of which meet at each vertex.
