After lunch, Qin Yi called Ryan over, planning to discuss finding a reliable old cowboy, as Ryan was too busy handling everything alone.
Ryan came over immediately after receiving the call.
"Ryan, sit down," Qin Yi said, pouring him a cup of coffee, which was spatial coffee. Ryan had tasted it a few times over the past few days, and Qin Yi was never stingy with his friends.
"Ah, I love coffee. Every time I drink this, it's just as delicious!" Ryan took a small sip, shook his head in appreciation, and couldn't help but exclaim, making Qin Yi smile.
"What's up, Yi?"
"It's like this. Recently, there have been more and more things to handle at the ranch: herding, pastures, farm renovations, and planning for small farm tourism. You have to manage all of these, and it's too busy. I think we should find someone to specifically handle the small farm tourism. Although you're doing a great job, I can't keep you so busy all the time!"
"Ah, thank you, Yi. You're a considerate boss. Although I don't mind being busy, I'm happy to have someone share the workload! So, Yi, do you have anyone in mind?" Ryan took a sip of coffee and looked at Qin Yi curiously.
"I want to find an old cowboy. If it works out, I plan to entrust all the tourism-related tasks to him. Hiring someone shouldn't be difficult, but Ryan, if you can find a friend or acquaintance, why should I go through the trouble of finding someone else!" Qin Yi shrugged and looked at Ryan, hoping he had a suitable candidate.
Ryan took a sip of coffee and thought seriously, "I have some friends who are old cowboys. If the job is a good fit, it shouldn't be hard to find someone. However, Yi, I still want to know, what exactly does handling tourists involve?"
"Of course." Qin Yi nodded, thinking it was important to clarify this. "There are two main tasks: managing the construction of the small farm and developing a Rocky Mountain tourism route. For official tours, a few cowboys will be responsible for reception, arranging meals and accommodation, and ensuring the safety of the tourists. That's it."
"Um, in that case, Hobbs might be suitable. He's very enthusiastic and can't stay idle. We've been friends for decades, and I know his character well. He's a good guy. How about this, Yi? I'll call him and arrange for him to come over so we can talk in person."
Qin Yi nodded. If there were no special issues, Hobbs would be the right choice. Qin Yi knew Ryan's character well, and since they were friends, Hobbs shouldn't be a problem.
After seeing Ryan off, Qin Yi had nothing to do in the afternoon, so he took everyone to the Sun River to play on the motorboat, which made Angel very happy.
The next morning, Ryan called to say that Hobbs was very interested and, if possible, they should arrange a meeting. Qin Yi thought for a moment and scheduled the meeting for the afternoon, hoping to finalize the matter quickly and make things easier in the future.
At 3 PM, Susa and Liu Qimeng took Collo and the others to the horse ranch. Qin Yi stayed home and brewed some coffee. Soon, Ryan brought a bearded white man in his fifties over.
It seemed the bearded man was Hobbs. He was 1.7 meters tall, shorter than Ryan, but very robust, with a steady gait. Unlike Ryan's somewhat serious face, Hobbs had a bright, warm smile, giving a very sincere and enthusiastic impression.
Qin Yi went to the porch to welcome them. From a distance, Ryan patted Hobbs on the shoulder and introduced him to Qin Yi, "Yi, this is Hobbs. Look at his big beard and bright smile. Isn't he perfect for greeting tourists?"
Hobbs laughed heartily, not minding at all, showing that they were indeed good friends. It was clear that Hobbs was a very enthusiastic and outgoing person, which would ensure a good atmosphere for the tours.
Qin Yi smiled, nodded at Ryan, and went up to shake Hobbs's hand, "Hello, Hobbs. Let's go inside and talk."
The three went into the house, and Qin Yi poured coffee for them. Hobbs took a sip and his eyes lit up, "Oh, my God, what is this coffee? It's delicious!"
"Haha, this is from China, and there's very little of it. You can't buy it outside. Hobbs, I must say, I have it better than you. I often come to Yi's place for a cup, it's such a treat!" Ryan teased his old friend, who was clearly delighted.
"It seems I have another reason to work here. So, Yi, do I have this luck?" Hobbs looked at Qin Yi expectantly.
"Why not!" Qin Yi shrugged. "I trust Ryan, and since you're friends, your work attitude should be fine."
This made both of them very happy. Qin Yi looked at them and considered the appropriate salary, "Hobbs's salary will be the same as Ryan's, $2,500 a month. Depending on the profitability of the tourism farm, I'll give a bonus at the end of the year. How does that sound, Hobbs? What do you think?"
"My opinion? No, I have no objections. This is already very good. Thank you, Yi. I like this job!" The salary was indeed good, and there was a bonus at the end of the year. From Ryan, he knew that this boss was very kind and generous. If he did a good job, he would definitely be well-treated.
"Oh, right, I almost forgot. There's a female brown bear and a cub at the ranch. You need to be mentally prepared. I feed them, so they generally don't leave the living area. Don't worry, as long as no one harms them, they won't harm anyone. The young cowboys here are already used to it."
As Qin Yi spoke, he saw Hobbs's calm smile and guessed that Ryan had already told him. Sure enough, Ryan's next words confirmed this.
"Ha, Yi, I told Hobbs about this. Do you know what his reaction was? Oh, my God, was this a new joke? Yes, Yi, he didn't believe me until I assured him multiple times!"
Ryan patted Hobbs on the shoulder and laughed, not mocking but just joking around with his friend. Of course, Hobbs didn't mind and wasn't the least bit embarrassed.
"Yes, that's right. Generally, people think that a bear raised from a cub might be close to humans, but a wild adult bear? Impossible! But when I saw how serious he was, I believed him. Then, I thought: Oh, my God, is he crazy? Hahaha, sorry, Yi, I'm just expressing my shock, nothing else."
Qin Yi waved his hand, indicating he didn't mind. Indeed, that was what most people would think. If he hadn't had the spatial ability, he would have thought the same way upon hearing about someone raising a wild brown bear.
"Then, why did you still come? Most people wouldn't accept it." Qin Yi was very interested in this.
"At first, when I confirmed this, I was shocked and thought about declining Ryan's invitation. But if a wild brown bear can live on the ranch and so many cowboys aren't afraid, why should I be? I've been a cowboy all my life. Am I going to lose my courage in my old age? I look down on such a person and won't allow myself to be like that, so I came!"
As he spoke, Hobbs might have thought about his initial reaction and shook his head with a smile. But by the end, his expression became very serious, his gaze distant, as if he was examining his own heart rather than speaking to others.
Qin Yi listened with great respect. Fear is normal, and most people would choose to back down. So, those who can face their fears and overcome them are truly admirable.
Ryan patted Hobbs on the back, clearly understanding his feelings. The older cowboys always had their own principles!
"Congratulations, Hobbs, you've defended the dignity of a cowboy!" Qin Yi raised his coffee cup, toasting to Hobbs and Ryan. Both smiled and raised their cups, gently shaking them and taking a sip.
After this conversation, their relationship grew closer. All three felt good, knowing they would be working together and getting along better, making their work smoother.
"Hobbs, do you want to meet the brown bear? You'll be living on the same pasture!" Ryan thought it was a good time for Qin Yi to introduce them.
"Of course, Yi, can we do it now?"
Hobbs couldn't completely shake off his nervousness, but he was more excited. If everyone could get along with the bear, why couldn't he?
"Of course, they're playing at the horse ranch. Let's go."
The three finished their coffee in one gulp, put on their cowboy hats, and went out.
