At the horse field, Susa and the others were riding their horses in circles. Angel was riding Little Black, walking back and forth in the field. Watching the adults galloping on their horses, she felt very envious. She patted Little Black's neck and couldn't help muttering, "Stinky Little Black, not being good!"
Indeed, Angel, who had a combat power of five in Little Black's eyes, could ride on Little Black's back. However, Qin Yi had instructed Little Black that when Angel was riding alone, it could trot but not gallop. Qin Yi didn't trust a four-year-old child to gallop on a horse!
So now, no matter how Angel urged, Little Black wouldn't run. It only took her along the track of the ranch, making Angel quite resentful.
Although Meggie and Teddy liked to follow Qin Yi, he had arranged for them to stay with Angel. If the little girl ran around, they would act as her bodyguards.
Now, with the protection target playing and a group of two-legged creatures following, Meggie felt there was nothing for her to do. She lay down a bit further away and dozed off, while Teddy played nearby.
The little bear loved walking upright, perhaps because it allowed it to see farther, satisfying its curiosity.
Now, Teddy was walking upright, moving slowly, its fat bottom swaying. It watched a group of two-legged creatures leading a group of four-legged creatures running around, shaking its small round ears, its little eyes full of confusion, not understanding what they were playing.
Really, not knowing how to enjoy life, it would be so much better to take a nap in the sun after a good meal! I won't do such tiring things!
After watching for a while and satisfying its curiosity, Teddy saw a large grasshopper on the lawn and became interested. It stretched its nose to smell it, but the grasshopper flew away...
This made Teddy's little eyes even brighter, as if it had found a toy, and it ran over quickly.
Surprisingly, although bears walk slowly, they can run very fast. The grasshopper had just landed when Teddy's hind legs arrived. It stretched out its paw to pat it, but the grasshopper had no choice but to fly away again.
Thus, on the lawn next to the horse field, a scene unfolded: Teddy, full of enthusiasm, chasing something from one place to another, its little paws waving, making gurgling sounds from time to time.
Meggie lifted her big head to look, seeing that Teddy wasn't running far and that everyone here was one of their own, so she continued to lie down and doze off.
When Qin Yi arrived with Ryan and Hobbs, he saw Teddy hopping around with its bottom up, knowing that this curious little guy had been attracted by something again. He found it interesting and led the two over.
"Ryan, Hobbs, let's go see Teddy. This little guy can play happily with anything small he encounters."
Ryan and Hobbs, watching the playful little bear, found it very cute. However, Hobbs still glanced at Meggie, noticing that she only looked up and then lay down again, he felt relieved, thinking there was no problem!
Qin Yi, of course, didn't know about Hobbs' reaction, and quickly walked over to Teddy. Suddenly, as Teddy pounced, a flying insect flew toward him. He instinctively reached out to catch it, and upon seeing it, it turned out to be a large grasshopper, about as long as a finger.
He wasn't surprised. In the ranch, these insects were unavoidable, especially this year with the drought, there were more insects than usual. However, as long as the number of grasshoppers was controlled to not affect the pasture, it was fine.
The cowboys were always on the lookout, and if there was a rapid increase, they would organize people to harvest the grass. Therefore, the pasture had always been stable.
Teddy, following the direction the grasshopper flew, saw Qin Yi and immediately forgot about the grasshopper, running over to rub against Qin Yi's legs, its cute little eyes looking at him with joy.
Qin Yi squatted down to pet Teddy's head, and Teddy sat down, grinning and closing its eyes in enjoyment.
After petting Teddy a few times, Qin Yi pinched off the grasshopper's wings and handed it over. Teddy held it with both paws, sniffed it, then stuffed it into its mouth, tilting its head back to chew a few times before swallowing it with a gurgle.
Qin Yi didn't mind; it was normal for animals to eat insects and small birds.
Ryan and Hobbs also squatted on either side to watch Teddy, finding the cute little bear very endearing.
"Hobbs, this is Teddy. Come, Teddy, say hello to Hobbs!"
Teddy waved its paw at Hobbs, glanced at him, then lost interest and continued to focus on Qin Yi, which made Qin Yi very satisfied. His little bear shouldn't be too friendly with others!
Of course, this already made Hobbs very happy, looking at Qin Yi expectantly, "Yi, can I pet it?"
"Of course."
Qin Yi petted Teddy, a form of reassurance, while Hobbs also reached out, gently petting Teddy's shoulder, smiling happily.
Teddy felt his touch, turned its round head to look at him, sniffed his hand, then ignored him and continued to play with Qin Yi.
At this moment, Meggie also came over. Hobbs withdrew his hand, knowing that a mother bear's protective instinct for her cub was very strong, and he didn't want to be misunderstood and get a slap!
Qin Yi introduced Hobbs to Meggie, who sniffed his scent, remembering him as one of their own, so there was no need to worry in the future.
After greeting the animals, Qin Yi led Ryan and Hobbs to the horse field. Angel saw Qin Yi and was riding Little Black over, while the others waved from a distance and continued galloping.
"Uncle Yi, Little Black isn't being good, it won't run with Angel!"
The little girl, after greeting Hobbs, pouted and complained, her cute little face making the three of them laugh.
"Angel is still young. If Little Black runs too fast, Angel might fall off and get hurt. Then both your mom and Uncle Yi would be sad. Be a good girl, Uncle Yi will take you for a ride on Little Black another day."
Qin Yi patted her little topknot, finding it very cute. This must have been done by Liu Qimeng, as Susa wouldn't know how to do it.
Hearing that her mom and Uncle Yi would be sad, Angel didn't want to ride Little Black fast anymore. She didn't want her mom and Uncle Yi to be sad!
Soon, Susa and Liu Qimeng rode over. Qin Yi introduced everyone and explained Hobbs' role. From now on, any tasks could be given to Hobbs, while Susa and Liu Qimeng could focus on planning.
With everything settled, Qin Yi and Ryan took Hobbs to the small farm to understand the situation and take over as soon as possible.
Qin Yi explained to Hobbs that his recent tasks would be managing the construction of the small farm, hiring a few cowboys, and developing a tourist route at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. As a lifelong cowboy, Hobbs was familiar with these tasks, so Qin Yi entrusted them to him completely.
As for Hobbs' accommodation, he would be temporarily housed in the ranch workers' quarters. Once the small farm was built, they would decide whether to move him over.
The day passed, and after dinner, Qin Yi received a call from his second sister.
"Second Sister, what's up?"
"Are you sleeping? Your brother said it's night there!"
"Yes, it's different here. Day and night are reversed. I'm not sleeping yet, it's just after 9 PM here."
Qin Yi got up and went to the living room for a glass of water, avoiding coffee before bed.
"About the vegetable planting, I've discussed it with our sister. We'll plant together, and split the profits equally. What do you think?"
"Sounds good." Qin Yi thought this was a good idea, making management easier and ensuring no issues would arise.
"How to split the profits, you two can discuss. Make everything clear to avoid future conflicts. For other matters, you can handle them, and if you have any questions, just ask me. Also, if anyone causes trouble, let me know. We have connections, so there's nothing to fear."
Qin Yi clarified these points to ensure the family could plant vegetables without worry, and he would have nothing to worry about if everything was fine at home.
After hanging up, Angel wanted to see Eagle One and Eagle Two. These two had been in the barn all day, and Qin Yi had only fed them meat in the morning and at noon, not paying much attention otherwise.
Susa and Liu Qimeng, having some free time, also remembered these two unfortunate ones, and visiting them became a group post-dinner activity!
Now, Eagle One and Eagle Two had absorbed the effects of the Blood Spirit Fruit, and their broken wings and legs had healed. Seeing Qin Yi and the others come, they ran out of their nests, flapping their wings like old hens to greet them.
Qin Yi walked over and lightly patted the heads of Eagle One and Eagle Two, scolding them, "Eagles! You are eagles! You need to have spirit, do you understand? Don't act like wild chickens!"
Hearing this, Susa and Liu Qimeng burst out laughing, while Angel, with a serious little face, pointed at the eagles' heads and instructed, "Yes, you can't be wild chickens, or people will roast and eat you. Uncle Yi can cook them, and they are very delicious!"
As she spoke, she patted her full belly and couldn't help smacking her lips. Susa shrugged, looking helpless, while Qin Yi and Liu Qimeng found it amusing, this little foodie never forgetting her love for food!
PS: Thanks everyone for the recommendations. The chapter scheduled for 10 PM was posted early because I'm a bit busy tonight!
