In the following days, no one went out to play. Every day, they would play with a few small animals on the lawn or sit on the terrace drinking coffee and enjoying the distant scenery, living a carefree and comfortable life.
However, such a relaxed life is always short-lived.
After enjoying a few days of peaceful ranch life, Kolo and Christine's vacation finally came to an end. Although the four of them were somewhat reluctant, enjoyment is not the entirety of life and should not become a hindrance to their progress.
But there would inevitably be a lingering attachment, making them miss this place and look forward to the next visit.
The night before they left, Qin Yi prepared a sumptuous Chinese meal, making everyone's stomachs full.
Under Qin Yi's persuasion, Lai Pi finally allowed the four of them to take a photo with him, followed by Teddy, Eagle One, and Eagle Two. Finally, it was Meggie's turn. After a few days of interaction, Kolo and the others finally overcame their fear of the friendly Meggie and gave the gentle giant a hug before leaving.
Before going to bed, Qin Yi gave them a gift, a bottle of fruit wine for each of them, which surprised them greatly. Kolo even gave him a big hug, not out of politeness, but a genuine embrace. The feeling of hugging a soft girl made Qin Yi very comfortable.
The next morning, except for the animals, all the ranch members went to the airport to see Kolo and the others off. The two women held Kolo and Christine, saying goodbye. They were among their few friends, and it was hard to part with them.
Qin Yi and his two comrades were more open-minded, understanding that the comings and goings of people and the gathering and dispersing of crowds are part of life.
As for Angel, she lay in Qin Yi's arms, her big, cute eyes always fixed on Kolo and Christine. Qin Yi understood the little girl's thoughts and found it amusing.
Sure enough, after the women finished talking, Kolo and Christine came over, pinched Angel's little cheeks, and kissed her, teasing her. Such a cute little girl, they really liked her. "Angel, Auntie is leaving. Will you miss Auntie? Next time we come, we'll bring you a gift!"
Angel wrinkled her little nose, wiped the saliva off her face, and was somewhat dissatisfied. Auntie Kolo and Auntie Christine always kissed her face, leaving so much saliva!
But hearing about the gift, she quickly nodded. "Angel will miss Auntie a lot!" She said, extending her chubby little hands to hug Kolo and Christine's heads and kissed them twice. "Auntie, come back soon, Angel misses you so much!"
Everyone laughed at Angel's performance, thinking she wanted the gift more than she missed them!
After seeing Kolo and the others off, Qin Yi and the rest toured Augusta before returning.
In the following days, Qin Yi lived a leisurely life, riding horses and telling stories to Angel every day. In the evenings, he would sneak out to sprinkle the spirit water on the pasture grass. The new alfalfa, which was almost covering the entire ranch, had completely taken over after a few days.
During these days, Susa and Liu Qimeng were running back and forth between the small farm and the ranch because they had discovered another shortcoming: they had forgotten to build a supermarket.
A supermarket was still necessary. Tourists would definitely need drinks, snacks, and other items. They didn't expect to make money from the supermarket; they just wanted to provide convenience for the tourists. If the tourists felt comfortable and enjoyed their stay, they could earn more money.
Susa's plan was to build a small supermarket at the board house, staffed by a cashier, selling drinks, snacks, fruits, and some small daily necessities. They would also place an automatic vending machine near the stables.
That morning, Qin Yi took Angel, dressed in work clothes, for a horse ride and received a call from Ryan. The small irrigation system was almost complete, and Bill invited him to inspect the construction.
Originally, Bill wanted to call Qin Yi, but since Ryan had been handling the communication recently, Bill didn't want to disturb Qin Yi directly and asked Ryan to inform him.
After breakfast, Susa and the others took Angel to the small farm, and Qin Yi called Ryan to go together to inspect the irrigation project.
On the way, Ryan said that compared to before, the cattle on the ranch had been gaining weight quickly, and their activity levels had increased. It seemed that they could expect a batch of high-quality beef cattle to be ready for winter.
"By the way, Yi, a few cows are about to give birth. This will be the first batch of calves born on our ranch!" Ryan clapped his hands happily. For the ranch and the cowboys, this was a cause for celebration.
"Really? That's great news!"
Qin Yi was also excited. This was the first batch of calves born since he took over the ranch. The birth of new calves was a good omen, a symbol of hope for the ranch.
"About when? I can't miss this great moment of welcoming new life!"
Ryan understood Qin Yi's excitement. Although he had been a cowboy all his life, he was always happy when new life was born and always wanted to see it in person to feel at ease.
"There are quite a few pregnant cows, but only a few are close to giving birth. The closest ones are about a week away, and three cows are almost ready."
Ryan, an experienced cowboy, knew a lot about this. The ranch kept records of each cow, including pregnancy cycles, growth cycles, weight gain, and illnesses.
"Let me know when it's time. I want to be there to welcome the calves. We can all have a drink to celebrate; it will be a memorable day!"
"Of course!" Ryan clapped his hands, looking forward to having a drink to celebrate the birth of the calves.
"Yi, look at the pasture grass here. I never expected it to grow so well!"
Although he had watched it grow, he was still surprised.
When they first planted it, Ryan thought it would be good enough if it sparsely covered the farm. However, after a month, the ryegrass had grown to over 20 centimeters tall and was very lush, except for the areas too far from the irrigation channels. The ryegrass had completely taken over the farm.
This surprised Ryan, but he was more delighted.
Qin Yi, of course, wouldn't tell him that he had poured spirit water into the irrigation channels several times. With the completion of the irrigation system, the farm no longer lacked water, and the spirit water could affect all the ryegrass, so it was natural for it to grow well.
"In a few days, we still need to organize people to harvest it. It's not yet dense enough."
"Right, I'll call the cowboy bar tonight and find a few cowboys to help." Ryan nodded, which was also his plan. After harvesting, it would be about a month before they could start grazing.
When they arrived at the construction site, the two of them got out of the car and looked around. The small excavators had all returned and were lined up along the road, looking quite impressive.
Seeing the two of them approach, a worker immediately led them to Bill. It was still the same big tent, and Bill had already been notified and was waiting at the entrance.
After a few pleasantries, Qin Yi and the others didn't go into the tent but drove to other places to inspect the quality of the irrigation channels. They had already seen the channels on the way, so they headed north.
After a few hours of work, Qin Yi had a general idea of the entire irrigation system. It was impossible to inspect every part, so he mainly focused on the points where the channels connected to the river, ensuring they met his requirements. He also randomly got out of the car to check the quality of the channels. Everything was fine, and Qin Yi was very satisfied. He promptly settled the final payment and saw Bill and his team off.
When he returned home in the afternoon, Susa and the others were there. Angel was hugging Teddy and watching cartoons, while Susa and Liu Qimeng were discussing the dairy cows.
Seeing Qin Yi return, Susa asked for his opinion. "Yi, now that the cowshed and stables at the small farm are built, should we buy dairy cows now?"
"Sure, where do you want to buy them?" Qin Yi thought it was better to get these things done as soon as possible and then talk to Wang Xixi and Fang Yue about the travel agency. If they were interested, they could come and take a look.
"I know a few nearby farms that raise dairy cows, but I'm not sure which one to buy from."
Susa shrugged. She was good at accounting, but she had no idea about buying dairy cows or running a tourist business!
Qin Yi remembered Walker, from whom they had bought the pasture grass. His farm had many dairy cows, so they could go and check it out.
"I'll call Ryan and have him take us to Walker's farm. Walker's farm has many dairy cows!"
Susa and Liu Qimeng had no objections. Qin Yi called Ryan and arranged to go to Walker's farm the next day.
