Introducion: Where is this?
There was a game called Midgard Online.
This game, otherwise known as MGO, was a good old-styled game that was famous for its unusual mix of 2D and 3D graphics in this glorious age of VRMMO.
As for why it had such a low spec system, it was solely because of the game’s lifespan.
Its lifespan had reached twenty years of age which was long enough to change the mainstream of the game.
Developed with old technology, the game boasted an active community that still had about 100,000 active users.
*o*o*
“Yup, yup. Ymir is still the cutest after all. Seriously, she’s like an angel!”
I was raising a self-praised voice towards my avatar in Midgard Online.
The biggest selling point of the game laid in the Variety Appearance Modification item.
A 2D character that moved through a crowded 3D map was nothing special in the market, but no other game came close when it came to the variety in regards to character appearances.
Headgear, shoulder equipment, shields, weapons and armors. 2D graphics had been made specifically for each part, and based on the equipment being used, the character’s appearance would accordingly change.
Aside from that, there were also items that were made for mounts. The game was really proud of the amount of customization that it had compared to other VR or 3D games which were incapable of having that kind of large data capacity.
Of course, the work needed for these graphics must have been laborious for the production team.
The character I used, a Magic Knight known as Ymir, was once known as the flower of this game.
She was a character who was powered up with a Magicstone called Rune, fought while mounted on a dragon and boasted high HP stats and offensive power.
-However, those glorious days did not last long.
The aftermath of a downward revision called for a balance adjustment.
The profession’s offensive skill power was lowered and it became the same as any other jobs.
Rather, it was said that it was inferior to other jobs due to the long cooldown of each skill.
The HP was also lowered, so the profession’s identity to maintain a front line position collapsed.
As a result, the number of Magic knights, which was roughly 20% of the total number of players, decreased at a frightening rate.
However, the class’s setting was able to tickle people with delusional hearts (Chuni), and in hopes of avoiding the extinction of the job, players had began to research ways to have fun, as well as how to construct a proper build for a competent magic knight.
In other words, a certain number of players did not abandon the class.
I was one of them, being a well known player for having an unusual composition. Furthermore, I had also been optimizing the ability of my character as I played the game.
I preferred to use weapons with the autocast function, which automatically casted magic whenever an attack hits, and had gathered equipment with the same capability. But, I was subjected to a lot of attention since to use it for a class that focused on physical strength as a front liner was unheard of.
Originally, only magicians would use the autocast function.
Because of this, it could be said that my character’s eccentric composition had a very difficult time entering into a guild or a party.
A famous player who was a little weaker than the top player, who roamed around the low leveled zones, who continued to play with a single character even when it had reached the upper limits of its level, who was only able to join in temporary parties that neglected efficiency.
That was me.
Why would you stick with such a character?
Of course, it was “love”.
A setting that was filled by two hearts, a loli avatar that had been customized to fullest through customization. In contrast to that loli build, a large and rugged weapon was carried.
Such a character rode atop a dragon and swung a longsword or dropped magic from above as if it was rain.
A sword with magical power that ran through its blade, and releasing the power of a Magicstone to defeat the enemy. I was fascinated by such a setting.
I had fallen in love with the battle style and before long, I had reached a pretty high level while ignoring the inefficiency.
On that day, I was fighting an ice golem with tremendous shooting speed. I breathlessly poured down [Thunderbolt] magic with autocast and watched the one-sided beatdown before smiling after it was finally defeated in a matter of seconds.
“Yoshi! With that, I’ll need about… 12,000 until the next level? I really don’t want to do it…”
It was hard to level up the higher your level was. I also heard that it was necessary to kill 10,000 monsters in order to level up to the highest level.
Honestly, I didn’t think my character could go that far.
“Well, I already have the equipment I wanted and there’s no need to rush. Also, I think it’s almost time for the infinite ice labyrinth to finally open up.”
The Infinite Ice Labyrinth was a type of MGO dungeon that continually used the same map endlessly for each stage of completion.
However, the monsters were different for each stage and a strong enemy classified as a boss appeared for each stage.
Of course, there was a possibility that a rare item would fall if it was defeated.
Furthermore, the dungeon could only be dived once a week.
“Right, shall I also buy a meal after preparing some items?”
I should have enough recovery items and weapons for the infinite ice labyrinth, so I’ll just wait in the safe zone and then head out to buy a lunch box.
My parents, who used to make lunch, were already dead. My grandparents were alive, but they would only visit once a year.
Recently, I thought that even when I had no friends who would want to meet with me in real life, I had no problems when it came to working, gaming and sleeping.
While the others, including my boss, would say, “Get a girlfriend,” it was honestly troublesome.
“In the first place, 3D isn’t good”
You tend to have a hard time talking about yourself if you lived alone. While it may seem bad, I think love was enough in 2D.
I changed my clothes and put on my shoes.
It was getting colder, so going out was quite a hassle.
Three days had already passed since the last time I had gone outside aside from going out for work.
I lightly stretched my body and bent my back. I wasn’t sure if I played too much or if my head was just too heavy.
“My head hurts…. I should go soon.”
There was no food left in the refrigerator. If I didn’t go out and shop, I would be in trouble for tomorrow’s dinner.
I turned the cold doorknob and stepped outside.
“…… Eh?”
Behind the door was a grassland as far as the eye could see.
Sunlight poured out from the slightly tilted sun as a warm wind stroked my feet.
I was in Japan, I should have been surrounded by a solid wall and it should have been winter.
But, no matter how you looked at it, the scenery that spread before my eyes was that of a scenery in early summer. Moreover, nature… it was everywhere.
“What……. is going on?”
I let out a somewhat high pitched voice. I’m… high-pitched?
“Eh, my voice……? What?”
My voice wasn’t this high. And the wind, it was flowing through my legs……?
When I lowered my gaze, I saw… a soft and slightly bulging chest and my bare thighs were stretching out from my knee-length clothes.
My limbs were slender, just like a woman’s… a woman! What?
“Wha, What is thissssssss!?”
In a world that was different from Japan in every way… I had become a woman and ended up screaming.

Author’s Note:
I’ll post another chapter today.
Translator Corner:
“Hi, this is the self-proclaimed new translator/editor for this series. I’m only doing this translation project for fun/hobby. I noticed that the translation hasn’t been updated since… well, last year. So, I wanted to see if I can MTL this. So, if the quality is lacking, well, don’t say ya haven’t been warned.
Now, here’s the thing. I’m actually going to start this from the very beginning. Why? It’s so that I can cover my bases if the previous translator decides to up and delete all their chapters. Also, it’ll help me get a better sense for the story since I’m learning about the story as I translate. Basically, I know nothing about the future of this story and will most likely be reading along with y’all so I do hope y’all enjoy.
P.S. this is completely free so no one better be asking for schedule dates since this is for my personal enjoyment.
P.S.S. do point out mistakes in the chapters. I’ll try to get to em, but I won’t guarantee I’ll see em immediately since each chapter takes a while to translate. Also, I’ll only change those mistakes if they are indeed mistakes.”
