[I’m Hungry]
A grassland spanned throughout my view.
It was obviously not Japan as the edge of the horizon could be clearly seen.
Looking around, I noticed that the overgrown grass reached to my waist which meant that the grass’s height was around seventy centimeters?
I wasn’t sure about my own height though so that probably wasn’t right.
“Hmmm… I feel like this is somewhere in Africa.”
I felt a strange sense of incompatibility with my voice.
It was rather embarrassing to listen to as it had a young and sharp intonation.
I looked down on my body again.
Smooth and delicate limbs with white translucent skin.
Smooth and flowing dark blonde hair which was tightly tied to the side.
On my small hands, my nails were glossy like pearls.
No matter where you looked, you couldn’t find the body of a man anywhere.
I wasn’t even Japanese anymore.
“… What is going on?”
It was supposed to be winter now, so it should have been a season that could even freeze you to death if you did not wear a jacket.
Now, it felt rather hot.
Even though I should have gone out with a thick down jacket, now I was only wearing a thin sleeveless robe that was barely long enough to cover my groin.
As for my feet, forget about wearing shoes, I wasn’t even wearing sandals.
As I checked, I also gave myself a quick pat down there and quickly found that I wasn’t even wearing any underwear.
“I guess I was just thrown out with only a single piece of clothing… Someone please help!”
I called out for help, but it was a given that there would be no reply.
Rather, it would be scary if there was a reply since there was nobody here.
“What do I do… Seriously? Is this a different world transfer that you normally see in manga? Or was I teleported here?”
If so, there may be a status function. I didn’t really need it. But, it may just be carrying food and clothes.
I tried to imitate a famous anime and waved my finger while shouting “Status,” but nothing changed.
I couldn’t help but blush as I realized what I had just done.
“Ah, I’m an idiot…… There’s no way that such a convenient thing would exist!”
I hung my head down as I got down on all four.
Since there was no one around, my voice had been getting louder. It may have been an instinctive means of self-preservation in order to distract myself from the loneliness.
“At any rate, I need to move somewhere where there are people, though it’s hard if I get attacked by a wild animal.”
No matter how it seemed, this place did not look like a safe area. Even in modern Japan, if you ever visit the mountains, bears and wild dogs could still come out.
I imagined the worst case scenario and my body couldn’t help but to tremble and shiver.
If a wild animal were to attack such a young figure… young?
“Come to think of it, this hairstyle and the hair color… perhaps, Ymir?”
The MGO character, Ymir, was a girl who had dark blonde colored hair which was tied to the side.
I wanted to check my face if possible, but of course there weren’t any mirrors nearby for me to check with.
“If only there was water for me to see- That’s right, water! I heard that humans would die in three days if they don’t drink water?”
I also remembered that if you did not have food for a week, then you would die. Of course, there were probably some errors in that.
“If I recall, a person should be able to see four kilometers into the horizon?”
Even if visibility was lowered due to the grass being in the way, you should probably still be able to see two kilometers ahead of you.
What was in sight was a grassland covered with tall grass as far as the eye could see.
Speaking of which, there were also three trees that looked like shrubs and one rock clump.
“Even though it’s unreasonable… there is still hope as long as you find a way… which way should I go?”
The sun was almost directly above me, so it was not a good indicator of where either the east or west laid. In the grassland where there were no landmarks- That’s right, there was a landmark!
“If you were to go back and forth through such a meadow, you would inevitably get lost without a landmark. If that were the case, then there might be a road beside the landmark. And, if there was something considered as a landmark in this grassland… that rock!”
If I were to get on the road, there may be people over there passing by.
Better yet, if I climbed that rock, my field of vision would significantly improve and I would be able to see many other things.
I pushed aside the grass and began to walk towards my last ray of hope.
After walking for about thirty minutes, I was finally able to reach the rocky mountain.
Apparently, based on the inclination of the sun, I had been walking westward. Though, by this time, I didn’t really care.
“So… what is this?”
Before my very eyes, an opening in the rock could be seen.
Was the rock about three meters tall? Well, that was assuming that my height was average.
A spacious hole could be seen on the lower half of the rock and a stairway had been carefully set down.
Moreover, stone handrails were made which made it easier for people to hold on to.
“Is this… a cave?”
It was dark inside.
I timidly brought myself closer to listen into the darkness and heard a variety of sounds like gyagya, kukekeke and Chorochoro.
(TL: SFX that I completely had no idea how to translate…)
“Ugh!?”
No matter how you looked at it, if you listened closely then you could definitely hear the sound of a beast mixed in with the rest.
I was beginning to get a very bad feeling from this. I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible, but a certain sound attracted my attention… the sound of clattering water.
“What should I do, I really need water… but I’m afraid that a wild animal might come out.”
Having walked up to here, my throat had gone very dry. I wanted nothing more than to jump into the cave just so I could satisfy my parched throat.
But, the cry of a beast stopped me from doing so.
It was scary to think that a wild animal could just pop out of the hole. However, whether it was good or bad, I didn’t see any signs of dust that led in or out of the stairs when I had examined the place.
A wild animal had probably never gone out from the opening… is what I wanted to believe.
“In any case, I’ll climb this rock and take a look around”
Fortunately, there were many footholds on the rock which made it easier to climb up.
A small body- Maybe, but this body was light so it could easily climb up to the top of the rock.
At the top, there was a small recessed area at the center. It had a caldera-like shape which hid it from the surroundings.
“This is…… not too bad. It’s not a bad place to hide. Aside from that, how does…… Woah!”
It came to no surprise that I leaked out an astonished voice. The rock was at least twice the size of my height.
Since I was now higher up, my field of view had greatly improved. There was no change in the scenery as far as I could see.
I could probably see up to six kilometers around me and confirmed that there was neither a river nor a road that could be seen.
“I’m done…… I don’t think I’ll be able to get anywhere else by the end of the day”
At any rate, the sun was beginning to go down. I had to decide where I was going to stay for the night.
“To stay on the rock or hide in the grass……. Yeah, hiding in the grass seems unlikely.”
Water and food were scarce in this place.
If that were the case, then staying in the grassy field was dangerous since you’re surrounded a hundred and eighty degrees by the grass.
“But, other things could also get inside the cave… I’m afraid to die”
I wanted to be pardoned from sleeping on the rugged floor of the rock, so I started to pull out grass from the vicinity and carry them to the top of the rock.
Contrary to their appearance, the grass were easy to pull out. Once I brought them up, I started making a bed of leaves.
In no time, I managed to complete the bed and laid down on it.
It was unexpectedly hard work to push aside and walk through a field of grass for several kilometers, and I instantly felt hungry the moment I laid down.
Not only that, but my thirst was getting worse.
“Ahhh… so hungry…… so thirsty…… I want to drink beer.”
I held my stomach in hopes of driving the hunger away.
Just then, before me…… A translucent object, like a keyboard, floated up above my stomach.
It was like a futuristic projection that you’d see from a sci-fi movie.
“Huh!? Wha… a keyboard?”
It was not stuck to my body and floated about 30 centimeters away from me. It was surprising to see.
I tried to press a couple of keys, but there was no reaction. No, No, No–
“The keyboard…… That’s right, perhaps!”
The input devices for Midgard Online were mostly mouse and keyboard. An Analog extreme to VR which uses a thought control scheme.
Regardless, the convenience that had lasted for decades should not be underestimated.
The number of shortcuts to open various windows with a combination of keys were comparable to that of VR’s thought control.
I immediately pressed the shortcut to open the item inventory.
A translucent item window opened in front of me.
“I did it! That means-”
One of the features from Midgard Online was the diversity in recovery items.
In addition to the standard potions and medicinal herbs, food items could also be used as an HP remedy.
When combined with specific items and equipment, some foodstuffs provided more benefits than potions.
Of course, I had those items and equipment. Which meant-
“There’s… Grilled fish, ice cream and daifuku!”
The Infinite Ice Labyrinth was a long winded dungeon that hosted a lot of enemies.
Therefore, a large amount of equipment and recovery items had to have been prepared to fend off the difficulties.
To solve this problem, you needed an item drop equipment.
When equipped, certain ingredients and materials are dropped as loot from defeated enemies. Of course, equipping this did not mean that recovery items weren’t needed, so I had some prepared.
There were a hundred grilled fish, a hundred ice creams and two hundred daifuku mochi in the inventory.
There were also several other concentrated high-potions aimed at weight reduction, and potions that increased attack speed.
In addition, there were several types of swords, armors and shields.
There were also twenty different kinds of magic stones. It had been loaded up to the point of inefficiency.
First, I tapped on the fish from the inventory. A salted grilled fish that had been stuck on a skewer materialized on my hand.
“Oh!?”
Even though it wasn’t freshly made, a delicious looking dish had still appeared.
I then tapped on the ice cream and an ice cream on a cone had materialized on my hand.
I was very thirsty so I greedily devoured ice cream. I then ate the salted grilled fish.
The order of the meal was strange, but I didn’t care.
My desire was the priority.
“Delicious! But, to be able to eat this in an instant when it was a game… as one would expect”
For the time being, I managed to settle down after eating one fish. Before I came here, that would have been a very insufficient amount, but now my appetite may have matched the size of my body.
Then it hit me.
I know how to get items out of my inventory. So, how do I put things into my inventory?
“It came out when I tapped it… do I drag it into the inventory?
With a knack for it, I poked at the leftover fish. It then moved as if it was stuck to my finger tip.
“Whoa!”
I was surprised, I didn’t think that it could actually be dragged when I tapped on it.
I passed by a ton of things in the inventory and moved it to an empty slot. There, I managed to store the fish in the inventory.
“I see, do you do this……”
After a couple of trial and error, I seemed to be able to call the keyboard and use the shortcuts when I touch the area above my stomach with my left hand.
For the time being, the food this time was enough for me to sleep in peace.
“Oh, right…… clothes, clothes”
In the inventory, there was an item called [Magic Knight Outfit], which I did not recognize in the game.
It was probably stored in here since I transitioned with the robe.
Since it was probably too cold to just cover up with grass till dawn, I should just take out some equipment that were stored in the inventory.
I took out a cloaked outfit and used it instead of a hanging cloth.
If you were to put grass on it, then you would be disguised even from above.
Then, I also prepared a weapon for self-defense.
The sword that I took out was bigger than my own height and I was unsure if I could really swing it, but its size gave me a sense of security.
“For now, this is ok. I’ll do the rest tomorrow.”
Should I dive into the cave or find another place to stay? Let’s think about it tomorrow.
Anyway, today was tiring. My stomach was full and I was falling asleep. Good night.
