As expected, the sun was already going down when we got out of the cave.

So for the night, we stayed at the camp I had previously set and had Alicia guide me through the processing of the birds.

I was just an ordinary salesman so I was wondering if I was prepared to fight with a sword, kill living creatures and be able to dismantle them. Surprisingly, dismantling was very easy for me.

It seemed that being reborn as Ymir considerably boosted my mental strength.

Though, I supposed it was quite obvious since I didn’t even hesitate in cutting those creatures’ heads off during the fight.

I plucked the feathers off, cut the belly to take out their organs, then hung them on a rack in order for the blood to drain along with the blade.

I had also dug out the spot where the blood was dripping since I thought that if I were to fill it in later, the smell of blood wouldn’t be as bad.

As for the organs, it would take a lot of water to clean them out so I would have to make another trip back into the cave.

Since it was already getting late, it would be troublesome to go back again so even if it was wasteful, I decided to incinerate them.

I put on the Crown of Sacred Flames and threw a [Fireball] into the hole which completely turned everything within into ash.

I then started to collect firewood from the shrubs and used the Sacred Flames to start a bonfire.

It was a bit bland since I didn’t have salt or pepper, but because there were still grilled fish in my inventory, those were salty enough to satisfy us.

“Big sis, it’s delicious!”

Alicia had a smile on her face as she quickly ate the bird meat which left a greasy mess on her face.

My mind, which was exhausted from all the fighting and dismantling, was instantly healed by her innocent smile.

I was still young, so I didn’t have much experience when it came to having children, but was this what they called fatherly love? No, I was a girl now so it would be motherly love wouldn’t it?

“I didn’t bring enough water so don’t eat it too quickly or you’ll choke.”

Fortunately, even after I drank the Increased Attack Speed potion the bottle didn’t disappear.

Even though the bottle was only as big as a small canned juice, I had two of them which had been filled with water.

If you think about it, I had no bottles to carry water with, so if we were to ever leave from here, it would eventually become a problem.

If I was going to leave with Alicia and travel, I would need to think of a way of ressupplying not just food but also water.

I only brought ten Increased Attack Speed potions with me, and even if I were to empty the rest of the potions, I would probably only be able to carry about three liters with me.

If we were to leave for a long journey… this amount was far from enough. Considering how we were going to travel, it was impossible for us to start travelling.

“I have to prepare a bottle to carry water with…”

“You can make glass?”

“No, I wouldn’t expect it to be like that.”

As I gently brushed the top of her hair, I took out an ice cream and gave it to her.

With a big smile on her face, she took it and wasted no time in putting it into her mouth.

Her body stiffened from that one bite, but she soon started to tremble a bit as she closed her eyes.

“That’s because it’s ice cream. If you eat too much of it though, you might wet your bed so you can only have that one piece.”

“Okayyyyy.”

After the meal, I began to cut the nearby grass then carried them to the top of the rock to prepare a bed.

I then laid out a cloak on top of it in order to make it easier to sleep on. Since I had a variety of cloaks in my inventory, I used another one as a blanket.

Alicia was also helping me out as much as she could before the day ended, so it didn’t feel as lonely as it did yesterday.

Nevertheless, by the time the bed was ready, the moon was already high in the sky. As expected, it still took a bit of time to finish.

Even if it was a bit early, the two of us slipped into the bed that I made. Since grass was easy to light on fire, the red light from the magic sword [Murasaki’s Flame] became our source of light.

I couldn’t help but think that it was bright enough to be a night light… but, I would still need to put it back into its scabbard before I go to bed

It stood out too much when seen from the sky. Just because those birds were inside the cave didn’t mean that they were confined within it.

“It’s already my second day though.”

Alicia, who felt as if we were camping, was in very high spirits.

I was still completely wide awake despite having made a bed to sleep in.

My boring response seemed to have worried her a bit since her eyebrows were anxiously tilting upwards as if to say she wanted to know how I was feeling.

“Does the grass smell ok? Are you bored?”

“Yeah…… Oh, right. I have feathers that I got from those birds, I wonder if I can use them to make a futon?”

“Futon! Let’s make it!”

It was possible to use bird feathers as a substitute for fuel, so I had stored them in my inventory.

If I could just get something like a cloth that could wrap around the feathers, a feathered futon wouldn’t be a pipe dream.

With that kind of strength, it wouldn’t be a problem to hunt as long as I didn’t get surprised.

While its bizarre voice did make me flinch, it was so weak that I couldn’t help but think of myself as a fool for being so scared of it.

If the monsters in the cave were only that much, then it may be worth it to see if I could thoroughly explore the insides of the cave at least once.

Nevertheless, it was still scary to leave a young girl to house sit all by herself.

I didn’t know when I would get tired or finish once I set out of the room, so it was easy to imagine what horrible things could happen once I leave.

If I considered her safety, it was better to always keep her in my sight.

If that was the case, I would always be involved in a battle… I was always a coward from the very beginning, so I wouldn’t think that was possible.

Besides, if she was always with me, she would be a good stopper.

If the cave’s enemies were weak, I may become overconfident and take careless actions before I even know of it.

In addition, there was the problem with water.

I had no intention of staying here forever, so I had to prepare for the coming journey.

I wasn’t dumb enough to let a kid’s flattery make me misjudge my own strength.

I was a modern Japanese person, I didn’t have any special background in swordplay nor did I study any traditional martial arts.

As much as I would like it to be, I was just a normal person who liked games and had the tendency to put all of their affection into their characters.

Alicia was already starting to doze off.

A strong enemy for a kid like her was staying up late in the night. It was good to be healthy.

For the time being, our goal was to make water bags and to secure preserved food.

Since I managed to process the three one meter class birds, there was plenty of meat left over.

The leftover meat was then wrapped in grass and buried underground in order to hide them and even if it was possible for animals to dig it up, this place should be safe.

With the next day’s plans set, I sheathed [Murasaki’s Flame] and called it a night.

The next morning, I had to address our biggest problem. The toilet.

Normally, we would just dig a hole, wipe with grass then bury it in the ground, but as one would expect, if we did that over and over again, the place would eventually be covered with toilets.

In order for that not to happen, we needed to think of a different method of disposing it.

Besides, there were other things we could use instead of paper.

Alicia had used the grass I had cut instead of paper to wipe with, but her impression of it was that it felt very bad. It was likely that some rough grass had been mixed in with the rest.

Since there were many various weeds here, it may be better to look for grass that was suitable for wiping with.

“Well, let’s just go ahead and burn it instead of burying it.”

There probably wouldn’t be a problem if I disposed of it by burning it with a [Fireball] from the Crown of Sacred Flames.

While there was a ditch inside the room in the cave, it would be mentally bad for me if after doing the deed, the ditch would actually drain into the only drinkable source of water.

That being the case, a hole had already been dug out so it wouldn’t scatter.

If you burned it and covered it, that was enough to function as a toilet.

It also wouldn’t be good if it was weather beaten later on. Even as a joke, I was a girl now. Alicia was also a young maiden even if she was about five years old.

Even if the surrounding area was covered in Fifty centimeter tall grasses, it did not feel comfortable at all.

After we were done with the toilet, we washed our hands with the remaining water, finished our meal and began our exploration of the cave.

Alicia wore the crown of sacred flames, so when she grew up, she would eventually be able to participate in a fight using [Fireball]. Though, it was still a long way off.

But, we really needed it right now. So, I had her wear shoes that raised MP. With those on, she should be able to at least shoot out one [Fireball].

The HP decrease was concerning, but I think it was better to have a means of defending yourself.

“Alicia, it’s absolutely no good to get near the enemy ok? And don’t shoot [Fireball] while I’m fighting.”

“I understand.”

“Also, don’t walk around on your own. Even if you find something strange, don’t just head towards it for a touch.”

“I understand. Big sis Ymir is such a worrywart.”

“I’m only worried about you Alicia!”

Before we had even gone into the caves, I had given her a quick rundown of things she should and shouldn’t do, and ever since we’ve entered the cave, I would find every opportunity that I could to caution her. This may have made her a bit weary though.

Even still, she was just a small child and if I didn’t constantly warn her, it was likely that she would immediately forget.

Alicia was a smart child, but it was the truth that she was still only just a child.

“Really, it’s really not good to forget ok!”

“Ok.”

It made me worried that when I turned to look back at her, she was happily skipping without a worry.

I was currently using equipment centered around the fire attribute along with a mana blade.

The fire set included a fiery glove that auto casted the attack magic [Firebolt], as well as an angel halo head equipment that auto casted [Firebolt] and [Fireball].

The angel halo emitted a dazzling light and made for another light source alongside Alicia’s Crown of Sacred Flames.

Though as far as monsters were concerned, the lightsource could only be a beacon.

“They came, Alicia step back.”

I immediately told her to move back when I heard the sound of footsteps from the passageway.

From within, a two meter long dog appeared ―― was it a wolf?

There were four of them.

“Grrrrrrrrr……”

Realizing that we were aware of them, they surrounded us at a distance and began to intimidate us.

But, in a situation like this, it was foolish of them to stay away from us.

While the wolves’ attention were distracted on me, Alicia activated a [Fireball] and burned them down in one go.

As expected, it wasn’t as strong as mine, but it was still enough to throw them off.

In one go, I jumped into the gap and slashed with my sword.

In only four swings, the [Firebolt] attack magic activated which only left charred bodies ending the fight.

“They weren’t that strong either huh. Their reaction was also pretty slow.”

“They were kind of strange.”

.

When I jumped into the group, their reactions were pretty dull to the point that I really doubted whether they were wild animals.

It was possible that this cave was intended for beginners since they were easily disturbed by Alicia’s magic.

As far as it concerned Alicia though, did the wolves seem like a strong enemy for a child like her?

For the time being, I put away the corpses into my item inventory as those thoughts flew about in my mind.

Sorry that took a while. A lot of people probably thought I forgot about this story. Well, what can I say. With irl stuff happening, I really work slow. But, in exchange, I’ll at least do my best in giving out quality translation so do bear with me in this journey.

P.S: This is a fully edited chapter by me too. There’s probably mistakes here and there, but it’s the best I can do. If anyone makes edit suggestions, I’m sorry but I won’t be able to change those until I catch up with previous TL so again, please bear with me.
