Chapter 9

As night fell, the entire campus was devoid of its usual hustle and bustle, instead appearing eerily desolate. The air was filled with the groans of zombies, and occasionally, a scream or the sound of someone crying, hidden somewhere unknown.

However, fortunately, despite the world changing, the power supply had not been interrupted. The intact lights in the campus were all turned on, preventing the area from falling into complete darkness.

At 8:30 PM, in the second-floor dining hall of Tianshui University.

At this moment, including Tang Tian, seventeen people were all gathered in a private room on the second floor.

Moreover, within such a short time, these people had formed a small group. Led by Teacher Wang, who was bald, there were six people, including three students from the school's sports department and the couple who had cooked for everyone earlier.

Then there were the five people led by Zhang Ling, one of whom was a male student named Wang Chao, whom Tang Tian had initially rescued. Wang Chao was a close friend of Zhang Ling, as his father was a subordinate of Zhang Ling's father. The other members were two male students from humble backgrounds and a girl who had a haughty look on her face. Tang Tian later learned that her name was Zhang Mei.

The remaining five people were led by Shen Yun. The girl with a doll-like face named Bingbing followed her lead, along with the two beautiful girls Tang Tian had initially rescued, Liu Xi and Liu Bai, who were sisters. There was also a tall and strong male student, whom Tang Tian observed was likely an admirer of Shen Yun.

Apart from Tang Tian, the sixteen people were divided into three small groups. The bald Teacher Wang and his group occasionally glanced at Shen Yun and her group, and Tang Tian noticed a glint of ill intent in their eyes, though it quickly disappeared.

Zhang Ling, on the other hand, often looked at both groups, deep in thought, but his gaze mostly fell on Tang Tian, as if he was pondering something.

The girls led by Shen Yun, however, were constantly on guard, observing everyone, clearly not trusting them. After all, they had no real fighting ability, and if these people had ill intentions, they would be helpless. Moreover, Shen Yun's gaze, like Zhang Ling's, often fell on Tang Tian.

Tang Tian noticed all these small actions but did not show any reaction. After all, everyone wanted to survive in this chaotic world, and forming such small groups was inevitable. He just didn't expect it to happen so quickly.

Tang Tian, however, was the most relaxed, sitting on the side and dozing off, completely indifferent to these people. Perhaps it was because he had grown up alone, but he found it difficult to integrate with them.

Tang Tian was very confident about his own safety. Not only did he have the strength far surpassing ordinary people, but the ghost assassin hidden behind him was enough to let him rest assured.

The seventeen people gathered in the private room, making it somewhat crowded. No one spoke, and the atmosphere was rather stifling. Tang Tian, who disliked this feeling, yawned and stood up, smiling, "You all continue chatting, I'll go take a look outside."

"Where are you going?" Shen Yun asked subconsciously as she saw Tang Tian about to leave the room. Everyone else also turned to look at him.

After all, Tang Tian was the strongest among them, and his presence gave them a sense of security, making them subconsciously rely on him as a leader. However, this did not mean they would submit to him.

Tang Tian shrugged and said helplessly, "I've been holding it all day, I just need to use the restroom. Don't worry, you all continue chatting. I'll find a private room to sleep in later and won't disturb you."

With that, Tang Tian opened the door and walked out, closing it behind him.

After Tang Tian left, the atmosphere in the room became even more complex. Everyone looked at each other, clearly deep in thought. Finally, the oldest, Teacher Wang, broke the silence.

"Everyone, don't be like this. Let's liven up the atmosphere. After all, we've all survived, which means we have good luck. I believe this luck will continue to be with us."

Clearly, Teacher Wang's words had little effect, and everyone remained silent. He could only give a weak smile.

Finally, Zhang Ling broke the silence, saying, "Alright, everyone, don't be like this. There were some things we couldn't say with Tang Tian around. Now that he's gone, I'll speak openly. I believe everyone shares my thoughts. Tang Tian is the strongest among us, capable of killing over a hundred zombies alone. None of us can match that, and we might not even have the courage to face a single zombie. So, I think Tang Tian's existence is a threat to us, but we also have to rely on him to survive. How should we interact with him?"

"I think we should be friendly with him. After all, he saved all of us. Besides, do we really have a choice? If necessary, making some sacrifices is acceptable. After all, no one wants to die," Shen Yun said helplessly after Zhang Ling finished speaking. As she mentioned sacrifices, her gaze turned bitter as she looked at the faces of the other beautiful girls.

Her words were understood by everyone, especially when Teacher Wang's eyes flashed with a lustful glint, though no one noticed. Zhang Ling's eyes also showed a hint of darkness when he looked at Shen Yun.

The world had changed, and the various dark sides of people's hearts were quietly growing, with all kinds of negative emotions beginning to surface.

However, because the change had just occurred, these people's actions were not yet overtly brazen.

Shen Yun, a smart girl, clearly felt the wrong looks the men were giving her and the other girls. She stood up and said, "Everyone should get some rest. It's late, and we'll find a clean private room to rest in. Fortunately, it's early autumn, so it's not too cold at night, or it would have been troublesome."

Without waiting for their response, Shen Yun led the other three girls out of the room, of course, leaving the male student behind, as the girls couldn't rest with him.

"Looks like this Shen Yun has a thing for Tang Tian, hehe..." After Shen Yun left, Teacher Wang sneered.

Looking in the direction Shen Yun had gone, Zhang Ling's eyes flashed with a cold glint, and he thought to himself, "Always acting so high and mighty in front of me, now that he's strong, you're eager to get close. What a joke, I'll make you pay for it sooner or later."

After Shen Yun left, the men sat there, each with their own thoughts.
