"Haa, still, how can I learn to use magic?"

I want to be able to use magic too.

Besides, I should be studying more than anyone else.

Yet, I can't use magic at all.

Why can't I use magic? It's something I really want to know.

Today, I thought I would study magic again and headed to the study.

Going through books and absorbing knowledge about magic has been my daily routine.

Both of my parents are excellent magicians, so the study is filled with a large number of magic books.

I've already read most of the books here.

But since I still can't use magic, it's all been meaningless.

"Maybe this is the last time I can come here."

I will probably be kicked out of the house soon.

If that happens, I won't be able to come to this study anymore. So, I was looking at the books in the study with a sense of nostalgia.

"Huh? There's a book here..."

While browsing, I found a book hidden at the back of the bookshelf.

Curious, I picked it up.

It was a completely black book, both the cover and the spine.

I felt a sinister aura emanating from the book, but maybe it was just an illusion?

The title was "Goetia."

There were still books like this left.

I thought I had read almost all the books in this study, but I had never seen a book like this before.

Since I had the chance, I decided to read it and flipped through the pages.

"Summoning demons!?"

I couldn't help but exclaim at what I read.

Yes, this magic book contained methods to summon 72 demons.

Usually, magicians use spirits or angels.

But I had heard before that there were terrifying magics that could summon demons.

However, summoning demons is a forbidden art and should never be used.

I might as well give it a try.

After all, I can't use ordinary magic, so there's no way I can summon a demon.

So, I'll just try it out.

I flipped through the magic book.

I was wondering which demon to summon.

Some of them were terrifying, and if such a demon were summoned, it would be a disaster.

"This one doesn't seem so scary."

I said this as I looked at a certain page.

Alright, let's give it a try.

Then I returned to my room and started preparing.

It was just a matter of drawing a magic circle on paper as described in the magic book.

First, it had to be a large magic circle, so I needed to connect several sheets of paper.

Then, I needed to write the magic circle with rooster blood, so I got a rooster from the cook.

Using rooster blood in magic is not uncommon, so I was able to borrow it easily.

Then, I drew the magic circle on the paper with rooster blood.

When it was done, I closed my eyes.

My teacher said to listen to the voice of the spirit, but in this case, should I listen to the voice of the demon?

Then, the next moment.

The magic book emitted a dark light.

Moreover, a groan-like, eerie sound came from the magic book.

Ah, this is what it means to listen to the voice.

I was moved by the new sensation.

Then, I chanted the spell.

"---I command you solemnly in the name of Norman. Appear like a swift wind and show your form in the magic circle. Come from anywhere in the world and answer all my questions rationally. Appear without delay in a peaceful form and make my wish a reality. I summon you. In the name of the one who commands all things, whose name, when heard, makes the four great spirits falter, the wind tremble, the sea flee, the fire extinguish, the earth shake, and all the spirits of heaven, earth, and hell tremble. I command you. Come forth—Fifty-first, Furcas!"

It was a long spell.

As soon as I finished saying it, the magic circle glowed.

Did it work?

The brightness was so intense that I instinctively covered my eyes with my arm.

When the light faded, I opened my eyes.

"Is this a demon?"

I asked in a questioning tone for a reason.

Because what was in front of me was far from the image of a terrifying demon.

First, it was an old man with a white beard and white hair.

Well, the magic book said he would appear as an old man, so that was fine.

The reason I decided to summon this Furcas was that I thought an old man wouldn't be so scary.

But the old man looked so frail, as if he was about to die, which was unexpected.

Moreover, the old man was snoring loudly, "Gubii, gubii," while sleeping.

Next to the old man was a horse that looked just as frail and about to die.

The horse was also predictably sleeping.

There was also a rusty spear lying on the ground. It must be the old man's weapon...

I might as well wake him up.

Thinking this, I shook the old man's shoulder and said, "Please wake up."

However, the old man only snored louder and showed no signs of waking up.

I might as well wait until he wakes up.

With this resolve, I waited for a few hours, but I couldn't resist the sleepiness and ended up falling asleep.

This was the entire sequence of events of the day I first tried to summon a demon.
