"Today, we will be giving a lecture on earth magic."

Professor Rudon stood on the podium and began the lecture. As usual, he seemed to be in a bad mood today.

"Earth is more complex and difficult to handle compared to the other three elements."

Then, the students started practicing earth magic, each looking at their magic books.

"Norman, how are you doing?"

Suddenly, Professor Rudon spoke to me.

"I still can't seem to do earth magic."

"I see."

"But, I have learned wind magic."

I recalled the time when I couldn't do wind magic and decided to say this.

"Hmm."

Professor Rudon nodded and said,

"Show me."

I nodded, extended my left hand, and began the incantation.

"Arise, wind."

Instantly, a magic circle appeared in the air, and the wind began to swirl.

"Hmm, you've learned how to draw a magic circle in the air. I haven't taught you that yet, have I?"

"I learned it on my own."

I was a bit nervous, worried that showing off my magic might reveal my ability to summon demons.

"Hmm, at this rate, you might be able to enter the academy."

"Um, I hope so..."

"Is there some other problem?"

"No, it's my problem."

I was kicked out of my home, so it might be difficult for me to attend the academy. Even though I had learned the minimum magic, being able to use fire, water, and wind magic alone doesn't make me an excellent magician. If I could learn at least one unique magic, I could hold my head high. However, I doubt my father's opinion would change even if he saw me now. I need to work harder.

That day, a topic of conversation spread throughout the academy. Apparently, a transfer student had arrived at the school. Moreover, it was said that he was a former commoner who had recently been adopted by a noble family. Upon hearing this, I immediately realized that the transfer student was Dimitri. Because of his excellence, Dimitri was placed in the top advanced class right from the start.

Upon further inquiry, it turned out that a student, who was originally a commoner, had challenged Dimitri to a fight. Since Dimitri is the type who doesn't back down from a challenge, it escalated into a duel. Incidentally, the opponent was Regal, whom I had fought before. Regal had been irritable ever since losing to me, and he challenged Dimitri.

Regal is one of the top students in the school. The only reason I beat him before was because Closer intervened. Regal is much stronger than me. Therefore, I expected Regal to win. However, the result was a decisive victory for Dimitri. I didn't see the duel with my own eyes, so I don't know what kind of battle they had. But because Dimitri won, he became even more confident. On the other hand, Regal's reputation plummeted.

Someone mentioned that the power dynamics within the school had changed significantly, but for me, who was struggling in the lowest foundation course, it didn't really matter.

I would be grateful for your evaluation.
