Chapter 41

"Then, I'm thinking of learning earth magic. Do you have any good demons in mind for that?"
Facing Closel and Fakalor, I asked them this question.
After fire, water, and wind, the next magic to learn was undoubtedly earth magic.
The four magics of fire, water, wind, and earth are called natural magics, and it is said that these are the magics one should naturally learn.
There is even a saying that one can only stand at the starting line as a magician after learning natural magics.
"I would recommend Agreas, the second in the hierarchy."
"Ah, Agreas would definitely teach you without any problem."
The second in the hierarchy, Agreas.
Since both of them seemed to agree, I decided to summon Agreas.
But there was one problem.
"Can I summon four at once?"
Currently, I was summoning Closel, Fakalor, and Orobas, who wasn't here.
I had never summoned four at once, so I was a bit anxious...
"Perhaps it would be better to dismiss Closel for a moment."
Fakalor suggested, pointing out Closel.
Closel, however, complained:
"Don't dismiss me without my permission!"
"No, I want to test my limits, so I'll try to summon Agreas as is."
I had managed to summon three at once before, so maybe I could handle four as well.
So, I started the summoning of Agreas.
"--- I command you in the name of Norman. Appear like a swift wind and show yourself in the magic circle. Come from wherever you are in the world and answer all my questions rationally. Appear without delay in a peaceful form and make my wish a reality. Come forth—second in the hierarchy, Agreas!"
Immediately, I felt a significant drain of my magic power.
I felt a slight nausea and tried to suppress it.
Sweat wouldn't stop.
The magic circle didn't light up.
It seemed that summoning four demons at once was too much.
"Anyway, I'm sorry, but one of you will have to leave for a moment..."
As soon as I said this, the two of them glared at each other.
"Fakalor, I want to stay with Master Norman, so you should leave!"
"Who are you to say that, you fallen angel? As someone who serves Master, I cannot leave even for a moment."
Neither of them seemed willing to back down, and they continued to glare at each other.
"Hey, I'll summon you back as soon as possible."
I tried to calm them down.
"But even so, I don't want to! The last time I was dismissed, I really missed Master Norman."
Closel hugged me, and I felt a warm and soft sensation all over my body.
I don't like this kind of physical contact, so I wish she would stop.
"Don't touch Master so casually, you fallen angel!"
Fakalor tried to pull Closel away by her hair.
"Ouch, stop pulling my hair! It really hurts!"
"Then, get away from Master right now."
"No way! As an angel, it's my duty to envelop people in warmth."
"You're a defiled demon. If you stick to Master, your defilement will spread, so stop it right now."
"Calling people defiled is the lowest! Demons are really the worst!"
Closel, you're a demon too.
After a heated argument, they finally started a physical fight.
"Ahahaha, if it comes to this, let's fight until one of us dies."
"Hehe, fine, it's the easiest way to beat you."
They glared at each other with bloodshot eyes.
Seeing their expressions, I was reminded that they were indeed demons.
If demons start a serious fight, it could get out of hand, so I cast a binding spell.
They were so focused on each other that they didn't notice I was casting a spell.
With a thud, they stopped as if time had frozen.
"I allow you to speak."
"I'm sorry, I got carried away."
"I apologize, Master."
Both of them seemed to realize they had lost control and offered their apologies.
I wasn't angry, but I cast the binding spell to prevent a disaster.
"Let's decide who will leave in a peaceful way."
"What do you mean by a peaceful way?"
"Rock-paper-scissors, for example."
So, we did rock-paper-scissors.
"Uwaaaaa, I lost!!!"
"Hehe, a fallen angel like you could never beat me."
Closel lost, and Fakalor won.
"Master Norman, please summon me back soon!"
Closel clung to me, crying.
Fakalor, as usual, tried to pull her away by her hair.
"Okay, I'll summon you back as soon as possible."
"Absolutely! Absolutely!"
Closel continued to cry and plead.
It's not like we're saying goodbye forever, so there's no need to be so dramatic.
After saying goodbye to Closel and dismissing her, I was ready to summon Agreas, the second in the hierarchy.
With the excitement of learning new magic, I cast the spell.
"--- I command you in the name of Norman. Appear like a swift wind and show yourself in the magic circle. Come from wherever you are in the world and answer all my questions rationally. Appear without delay in a peaceful form and make my wish a reality. Come forth—second in the hierarchy, Agreas!"
The magic circle glowed, and a figure appeared.
It was a scene I had seen many times before.
"Hahaha, did you summon me, boy!"
The one who appeared was an old man.
Not like the frail, almost dead-looking Fakalor, but a robust, well-built old man with a healthy complexion.
"Yes, I summoned you."
"What is your name?"
"My name is Norman."
I tried to be as polite as possible.
"I summoned you, Agreas, because I have a request."
"Go on, what is it?"
"Please teach me earth magic."
How would he respond?
So far, few demons have willingly followed my requests.
The chances of him refusing were high.
"Very well!"
He answered immediately.
"I will teach you all the earth magic I know!"
Agreas declared this loudly.
Closel was right when she said Agreas wasn't scary.
It seemed that things would go smoothly this time.
