Chapter 8

"This stupid fish's AOE skill is quite powerful!"

Chen Fan's eyes darted around: "Xiao Bai, go around the edge and get to the other side of the small puddle."

"I'll throw stones into the puddle to attract those demon fish's attention, and then you take the opportunity to attack them with 'Lightning Cat Claws'!"

"Take out the Level 2 one first... oh, the biggest one, the one that just attacked us with bombs!"

"Once the biggest one is gone, the rest will be much easier!"

"Okay!" Xiao Bai, being very smart, nodded and quickly moved to the other side of the puddle.

She lay flat on the ground, motionless.

Chen Fan picked up another stone, walked to the edge of the puddle, and threw it in!

The group of blue-scaled demon fish in the puddle were furious...

Water jets shot out continuously, and bubble bombs kept flying out, chasing and bombing Chen Fan relentlessly.

Taking this opportunity, Xiao Bai stood up on the other side, her two cat paws enveloped in lightning power. She struck four times in quick succession, landing four "Lightning Cat Claws" on the Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish!

The blue-scaled demon fish was just floating to the surface, angrily blowing bubbles. In a moment of carelessness, it was hit by four "Lightning Cat Claws," creating several bloody holes in its head and belly, and it immediately flipped over, belly up!

"Xiao Bai, retreat!"

After dodging a few bubble bombs, Chen Fan waved his hand sharply.

Xiao Bai reacted quickly, turned around, and retreated to a safe area.

Several sharp water jets didn't even touch a single cat hair on her.

"Good job!"

Chen Fan laughed heartily and gave Xiao Bai a thumbs up from across the puddle.

"Meow!"

Xiao Bai happily waved her little paw.

Next, it was easy. There were only six Level 1 blue-scaled demon fish left in the puddle.

Level 1 blue-scaled demon fish only had the "Water Jet" skill and couldn't use "Bubble Bomb."

Chen Fan kept throwing stones to attract the attention of a few blue-scaled demon fish.

On the other side, Xiao Bai kept using "Lightning Cat Claws."

In less than ten minutes, all six blue-scaled demon fish were killed and floated to the surface.

Chen Fan had Xiao Bai give each blue-scaled demon fish two more "Lightning Cat Claws" and then used a fish spear to scoop all seven fish up.

The Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish was about two feet long, and the Level 1 blue-scaled demon fish were over a foot long.

Chen Fan checked Xiao Bai's attribute panel. To help Xiao Bai level up from Level 1 to Level 2, he needed 5 pounds of fish meat from Level 1 or higher fish, one Level 2 fish crystal core, and 10 energy points.

There was enough fish meat.

He also had a Level 2 fish crystal core.

Energy... the system currently had 19 points.

Chen Fan checked the details. The system had 10 energy points left, and he gained 6 points from killing six Level 1 blue-scaled demon fish and 3 points from killing one Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish.

Everything was ready, even the wind was favorable!

Chen Fan looked at the method on the system panel. It was simple... roast or boil the fish and feed it to Xiao Bai, then have her use her full stomach to channel the lightning power to refine the Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish's crystal core!

Great...

Chen Fan eagerly took out a dagger, dug out the Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish's crystal core, and then removed the innards of the seven fish, washed them, and placed them on a large leaf about a meter in diameter.

He found an open, safe area, collected some dry wood and dry leaves, and piled them together.

Xiao Bai lay by the leaf, watching Chen Fan's actions quietly.

Although she didn't quite understand what Chen Fan was doing, she didn't move because he hadn't let her eat the fish.

After making all the preparations, Chen Fan picked up Xiao Bai, took the "sack" containing the seven fish, and returned to the pile of dry wood.

He put Xiao Bai down and pointed to the pile of dry wood and leaves, saying, "Xiao Bai, use 'Lightning Cat Claws' to start a fire for me."

Xiao Bai looked at Chen Fan, then at the dry wood and leaves, and then gently waved her paw.

"Boom!"

The "Lightning Cat Claws" struck, and the dry wood scattered.

But the dry leaves caught fire!

Chen Fan quickly got up, gathered the scattered dry wood, and blew a few times to make the fire burn brighter.

He skewered a fish with the fish spear and started roasting it over the fire.

The aroma was incredible, and Xiao Bai, by the fire, drooled.

"Don't be in a hurry, it'll be ready soon!"

Chen Fan glanced at Xiao Bai and comforted her.

Soon, the first fish was done. Chen Fan tore off a piece and gave the rest to Xiao Bai.

Xiao Bai lay on the large leaf, grabbing the roasted fish and eating it voraciously.

Chen Fan also took a few big bites.

"These blue-scaled demon fish taste really good, few bones, lots of meat, and they're juicy. Too bad there's no salt..."

Chen Fan ate while roasting the fish.

All seven fish were roasted.

But Xiao Bai had only eaten three, and her belly was already round and full.

The rest, Chen Fan wrapped in the large leaf.

"Three fish, five pounds is enough... by the way, Xiao Bai's appetite has increased a lot since she awakened, she can eat so much."

Chen Fan took out the Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish's crystal core and placed it in front of Xiao Bai.

Xiao Bai stared at the diamond-shaped crystal core with wide eyes.

She clearly sensed the massive water attribute energy within the crystal core.

Chen Fan also lay on the leaf and said solemnly, "Xiao Bai, in a moment, use your two little paws to hold this crystal core and slowly channel the lightning power... remember, do it slowly, don't release the power all at once like when you attack, understand?"

Xiao Bai: "Okay!"

To be cautious, Chen Fan took a small stone and had Xiao Bai hold it, then slowly channel the lightning power.

"Zzzz!"

Lightning appeared on Xiao Bai's two little paws, covering the small stone.

The lightning power, which could destroy the small stone, actually enveloped it without instantly blowing it up!

"Xiao Bai, you're so smart!"

Chen Fan was overjoyed.

Hearing the praise, Xiao Bai closed her eyes and smiled...

"Boom!"

The small stone in her paws exploded into ashes.

"Calm down, don't rush, focus!"

Chen Fan patted Xiao Bai's head and gestured for her to hold the Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish's crystal core with both paws.

"Hold this crystal core with both paws and slowly channel the lightning power to envelop it."

Chen Fan looked at the system panel's instructions and said, "Then, the lightning power will draw out the power within the crystal core, and you will absorb all of it!"

"Understood?"

Xiao Bai nodded: "Okay!"

Under Chen Fan's watchful eyes, Xiao Bai carefully picked up the diamond-shaped crystal core.

Her paws began to glow with lightning.

The lightning enveloped the Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish's crystal core.

In the next moment, Chen Fan sensed a powerful force surging out from the crystal core!

"Draw out that power, guide it out, and absorb it!"

Chen Fan's palms were sweating.

He was following the system's instructions, but he wasn't sure if Xiao Bai could stabilize and understand how to use the lightning power to guide the force within the crystal core.

Level 2 blue-scaled demon fish were hard to catch, and if this one failed, it might be a while before he could get another crystal core like this.

Xiao Bai opened her mouth wide and took a deep breath...

"Zzzz!"

The lightning enveloped a strange force, which flowed into Xiao Bai like water!

The diamond-shaped crystal core in Xiao Bai's paws instantly turned into a dull stone and shattered!

"Success!"

Chen Fan suppressed his excitement, extended his right palm, and gently placed it on Xiao Bai's head.

The final step...

Consume 10 energy points from the system to help Xiao Bai with the final upgrade!

A current seemed to rise from Chen Fan's abdomen, travel through his right arm, and reach Xiao Bai's head.

Xiao Bai's body trembled violently!

"Boom!"

A strange force directly pushed Chen Fan's hand away!

"Meow!"

Xiao Bai let out a fierce cry, and her body suddenly grew larger!

At the same time, her body was enveloped in lightning, making her look as if she was made of lightning!

In Chen Fan's view, Xiao Bai's attribute panel finally changed...
