Chapter 4 ー God is not of this world
In the afternoon of that day, there will be a briefing about the next training exercises, as well as a lecture on how to prepare for them.
It’s akin to going to a lecture where you merely listen to explanations, but you can’t relax since you won’t be able to continue if you miss or arrive late for these explanations or the practical training.
And I don’t like this time very much.
“Please, just put me in a group with someone kind, ideally the same person…”
Only then will I be able to learn more about the people with whom I would complete the exercises.
Everyone is an adult when you’re a college student, and unless you do something really unusual, you won’t be shunned or spoken about behind your back, but it’s really tough to make it difficult to talk to others. I’d like to point out that everybody who believes I should fix my communicable disease is just doing so because they don’t realise how terrible it is, but I truly want to solve it.
“You can be with me.”
Why is she still with me to this afternoon’s lecture?
I thought I had successfully vanished when the classroom changed, but she found me and approached me.
I’m not sure why, and I almost want to hit myself for settling for that.
She says this, but with roughly 250 individuals taking part in the training, pairing up with her is doubtful.
I’m annoyed, but I don’t believe I’ll be able to calm down and get any practice. I don’t want to press her to do anything, and I don’t want the faculty to see me as a joke because of her personality.
In our college, the practical training evaluation is essentially set at A. Of course, it is possible to move to the next level with a B or C, but this is a major risk since it may be seen as a failure to engage in practical training, which might harm your job hunt.
“Then distribute the practicum papers. Don’t throw them away, since we could ask you to bring them to future practice sessions. There will be no reprint.”
I instantly checked to see which group it assigned me to after receiving the papers from the front.
“Kanzaki Kaho… A…girl?”
“Hmm… We’re in the same group, but we’re in different squads. But, since we’ll be in the same class, if I don’t understand things, I can ask you.”
“Will you please stop?”
It separated them into alpha, beta, and gamma groups and worked separately, although she and I were evidently in the same broad group.
When I glanced at her text, I noticed she had highlighted “Ito Natsuki” in addition to my name. This was most likely her name.
“Who’s your pair?”
“Hmm… it appears to be a guy. I don’t like the thought of being with any other guy other than you, but that’s the teacher’s decision, so I can’t change it.”
With that, she rubbed the pair’s name with a pen and tore it to shreds. Stop it; you’re innocent enough.
“Nonetheless, it’s a girl… To keep from getting into problems, I’ll have to take the lead.”
It’s quite uncool to delegate any activity to the girls. I’m sure the girls will be resistant, especially when interacting with living creatures, so I’ll have to take the lead in those cases.
The members of the group are meant to train together. If I make a mistake, the pair may suffer as a result.
That is the one thing I must avoid.
“Hmm… I wonder if she’ll do anything for me.”
If it was someone like this girl, I wouldn’t hesitate to force her to do it by slapping her ass. But, you have to be a gentleman to a normal girl.
“I’ll come to you if I can’t use this pair, and we’ll be fine.”
She’s said some of the most heinous things I’ve ever heard, and I don’t want to help you in any way.
“That’s right, give me your contact information. I’m sure I’ll have some questions for you.”
“I refuse.”
I cut off her request with a bang.
“W-why…”
“If I give you my contact information, you’re bound to contact me about anything and everything. Besides, I’m sure you’ll say anything as inconvenient as ‘I simply contacted you’”
And I don’t even know what to say back when I get a message from this girl. I’ve never reached out to the opposing sex before. Everything was sent through the group chat, and I’m sure they didn’t mind if I read it or not.
The only case this has happened to me was when I wrote a message to a girl who was always smiling at me and thought to myself, “I might be friends with this girl,” and she didn’t read it at all, even after days and months, and it was so terrible that I discreetly deleted my history.
“H-how did you find out…?”
“I can tell just by looking at you. So I don’t want to be exchanging contact information with you. I’m sure you have enough guys and friends to chat with.”
I told her about this. However, about five seconds later, I realized I had said a bit too much. That’s how I’m normally.
“There’s no one else like that, so I took a chance and hoped you’d be the one… You don’t have to hate me so much…”
The words I regretted speaking about having overstepped my limits pained her a lot, and she was really upset. Isn’t that a little much? When I’m mentally unstable, my tongue becomes very sharp, and I’ve made them very sad.
I’m still making girls cry at my age. This is bad.
“I’m joking… Who wouldn’t want to exchange contact information with someone they’ve been talking with for a fair period of time?”
“No, I don’t believe so. You’re so simple. You’re kind, but you’re wasting your time straining to spew poison, and it’s clear you’re anxious since you’re spitting too much venom!”
She wasn’t depressed at all, and she was crying falsely. And I knew I’d guessed correctly about her.
“Y-you!”
“Men do not lie about what they say♪ Yes, just take out your phone.”
“S-shit…”
I’m still in training, by the way. Of course, if they discover that I’m tapping my phone in this situation, they will get angry.
Meanwhile, she had deftly exchanged contact information without being seen.
“Ehehe.”
She glances at the screen, a joyful expression on her face, telling me that my contact information has been registered. She’s so cute.
The more I look at her and the more I get involved with her, the more I find her fascinating. Her personality may be difficult, but I don’t think she really is.
How can a girl like this not have friends, let alone a boyfriend? I’m still puzzled why.
I wonder why she had been alone until she met me. Will she tell me if I ask her?
