Chapter 26 of 60

9 min read2,162 words

Peijin’s heartbeat continued to quicken even after she sat in her seat, a look of befuddlement on her face.

What did He Xun’s last words, “I’m still a pretty reliable person.”, mean?

Why did it inexplicably make her think of males in the animal kingdom? When males in the animal kingdom were courting, they would put their all into displaying their best qualities to win the opposite sex’s favour. Was she overthinking it, or had He Xun meant that himself?

However right now she was a “man.”

Had He Xun already discovered her identity as a girl, or did He Xun like boys? Peijin instantly fell into a dazed loss.

On the other hand, as soon as He Xun returned to his seat, Zheng Li gave him a thumbs up. No wonder why he was his brother, simply no one else could beat this execution! (1)

(1) Execution is interchangeable with words such as “drive” and “will power”

In a good mood, the corner of He Xun’s lips raised, “By taking a little action, there will be stories about her and I.”

Zheng Li gave a laugh, “Alright, Ah’Xun, if you were so proactive before, you would have enough girlfriends to circle the earth once.”

He Xun sneered, playing around with the black pen in his hands, “Did I need to take initiative in the past?”

If He Xun wished to, he could change girlfriends everyday without even taking the same types for a year. Talking about dating, or having several girlfriends, was honestly something that could not get any easier for him.

There truly were too many girls chasing after him.

Due to his greatly uncompetitive nature toward getting a girlfriend, he had never given any rise to the thought of love, even feeling bored by these sorts of things.

Now for the first time ever, he liked someone and wanted to date them. Naturally, he would devote himself.

Zheng Li had grown up with He Xun, he naturally knew of how popular He Xun was among girls. Once he remembered that Peijin was a man, Zheng Li heaved a sigh in his heart. He patted He Xun’s shoulder, wishing him well in a low voice, “Ah’Xun, I hope you achieve your heart’s desire soon.”

After the two performers stepped down from the stage, Yang Meili joined in the applause, “The performance of these two students were excellent, the two are really in tune. If there’s a chance next time, you two should perform again.”

As soon as Peijin heard, she madly cried out in spirit, never again! She didn’t want to go up on stage and act anymore.

This foreign language teacher loved to play around (1), and had an especially romantic bone. Although she had only attended a couple of this foreign language teacher’s classes, the foreign teacher’s personality was as clear as day to her. The scale of this time’s reproduced scene was okay, but if Yang Meili were to put on a more immoral one, and then made the students perform it on stage, what could she do?

(1) In this sentence “play around” is derived from the internet slang word of “城会玩“ or “会玩儿”, which means city play and “will play” respectively. This is a term commonly used to ridicule/tease people, however here it would be used as “play around” or alternatively, “This foreign language teacher really knew how to have fun/liked having fun.”

Naturally Peijin wouldn’t answer this sentence, but she had wholly never expected that He Xun would actually say “No problem” from the very back of the class. Right as it was said, Yang Meili smiled, ‘Alright, then I will be keeping your words in mind.”

The foreign teacher had a good memory and she would never let He Xun off for taking the initiative to request to perform. Next time she didn’t know what video she would make them act.

Peijin instantaneously felt that her life had no meaning.

English class was followed by the class teacher’s lesson. The class teacher brought up the topic of their placement test next week.

Only then did Peijin realize with a start that it had already been almost three months since she transmigrated. Senior Year had many exams, quizzes, monthly tests, placement exams, and afterwards the first mock and second mock.

The placement exams weren’t the most important thing to the current her. However there was an extremely important matter that she had to go do immediately!

Today’s last class just so happened to be a self-study period. Peijin took her wallet and quietly left class twenty minutes early.

She hadn’t been gone for long before He Xun sent her a text.

[ Big Demon King: Peipei, where are you? ]

[ Little Five: Brother Xun, I have a bit of business today, later I’ll go back to class first. ]

[ Big Demon King: What are you going to do? ]

Peijin held her phone, somewhat hesitant. Should she answer?

Probably because he saw she hadn’t replied for a long time, her Big Demon King roommate sent another message over.

[ Big Demon King: Hm? Can’t tell me? ]

Peijin pursed her lips, replying, [ Little Five: That’s not it. I’m going to the supermarket to buy something. ]

[ Big Demon King: ok, got it. ]

After seeing this message, Peijin took her phone and put it away.

She felt that her Big Demon King roommate was a bit curious about where she was going, so he had sent a message to ask about it. After replying she put the Big Demon King at the back of her mind.

The all boys highschool was situated in the heart of the city. Transportation was convenient and the various affiliated facilities around were all very well equipped.

Quite a few shopping malls were nearby, and there were many large supermarkets.

Peijin had especially snuck out of school twenty minutes earlier in order to go to the supermarket and buy pads.

For the sake of not running into anyone familiar, she had gone out of her way to look for the major supermarket farthest away from the all boys’ highschool.

Peijin was in luck. Not long after she left school a bus arrived at the bus station. She got on and sat down, getting off after three stops.

There weren’t many students from the all boys high school who would come to this supermarket. They would mostly go to the supermarket that was closest to the school. Because it was more convenient to go shopping at supermarkets near the school. To Peijin this was good news.

She had already planned beforehand to go where they sold buns (1) at the supermarket as soon as she arrived, and then grab a few buns to check out.

(1) Euphemism for pads

Of course, in order to not let the buns draw too much attention, she would also buy a couple of big bags of snacks to cover it up.

Everything was thought to be perfect. However Peijin had underestimated the scale of this large supermarket.

She had originally intended to find the farthest supermarket from the school that sold buns, however she had never expected it to actually be this city’s largest, most luxurious, huge supermarket. After arriving at the supermarket she had almost gotten lost. Thankfully she eventually found a staff member to ask where the pads were.

The staff member was very calm, and very responsibly pointed out the way to Peijin. Never asking her, a “boy”, why they were buying female products.

Peijin twisted and turned in the supermarket and at long last, she found the shelves that exclusively sold pads.

Then another problem came.

She had never seen these brands before, and the pad brands she had been familiar with prior to her transmigration weren’t here either.

So, which brand of pads were better?

Peijin felt that although the expensive ones were not always good, the cheaper ones definitely couldn’t compare to them. You get what you pay for, these words weren’t without truth. Anyhow, she wasn’t short of any money currently, so she took a bag of the most expensive ones.

Originally she had wanted to take more packs, but firstly, taking too much would make her goal too obvious. Secondly, buying a pack for emergencies would be enough. With this though, she ended up taking only one pack of buns.

After getting the buns, she should buy a few bags of snacks.

Peijin, holding the buns in her hands, left the shelves that specifically sold pads, but just as she was walking by the place that sold tissues, she suddenly saw someone she knew appear seven to eight meters away.

That person was none other than her current Demon King roommate, He Xun!

At this moment, He Xun had one hand in his pocket, carrying himself casually as he walked.

How come He Xun came here too?

How did he know she was at this supermarket? Or was here just simply here to shop? But there were obviously so many supermarkets near the school, so even if he was here to shop as well, he didn’t need to coincidentally choose the same supermarket as her, right?

Peijin wailed and wailed mournfully in her heart.

But fortunately, He Xun hadn’t seen her yet. Peijin took the period pads and put them into her pocket, and then, at a speed that was comparable to a turtle’s crawl, she slowly, slowly turned around. As she turned her body, she edged little by little, shifting toward the right.

Wait until she got behind the aisle, then she would be safe.

Peijin inwardly prayed, “He Xun please don’t look at me, He Xun please don’t look at me.”

She kept thinking so in her mind. Gradually, she would finally have her back completely facing He Xun, she was just about to be safe! However at this time, He Xun abruptly noticed her with his sharp eyes.

“Peipei!”

The sound of this shout was like a thunderbolt in the clear sky, Peijin was so frightened her legs almost went weak.

She didn’t know what she had been thinking, but her first reaction was to actually run away. There still was a pack of super-large period pads in her pocket. These buns would be too eye-catching, she could never let He Xun see it. As soon as he did, she would be exposed within minutes.

Thinking so, Peijin hurriedly sped up and shuttled amidst every aisle. Halfway through, afraid that He Xun would find any abnormalities, she secretly threw the buns from her pocket. The luck of her throw wasn’t bad, the buns happened to drop behind the snacks, if you didn’t move away the snacks bags and look carefully, then it couldn’t be seen at all.

Peijn slightly let out a breath of relief. After the buns had left her hand, she didn’t have anything to fear.

Because there was nothing on her body she was afraid of He Xun discovering, Peijin gradually reduced the speed she was running at. After leaving the snack aisle, she subconsciously glanced behind her as she ran.

Against her expectations, He Xun’s figure was nowhere to be seen for several meters behind her.

She should’ve lost He Xun already, right?

With this thought, just as Peijin was going to stop her steps and change from running to walking, at this moment, she was thrust into a pair of warm arms without warning, and then wrapped in a hug.

He Xun’s smiling voice rang out in her head, “Such enthusiasm? Throwing yourself on me.”
