He Xun’s eyes passed over where the cigarette butt originally was, but now was already nothing more than a clean streak on the ground.
Tch, this nerd, he was pretty upright.
Due to He Xun’s tall height and long legs, he walked forward by himself while Pejin followed behind him, jogging and barely able to keep up.
After He Xun noticed this, he stopped and glanced down at her from his tall position, “What did you eat growing up? Your legs are so short.”
At present, Pejin was only 159 centimeters (5’21 feet), rounding up her height; in life and death she would scarcely be able to enter the ranks of 160 centimeters (5’24 feet). However, even if she were to round herself up to the nearest digit, it was obviously not enough for the 186 centimeter tall (roughly 6’0 feet) He Xun to catch sight of. For girls, there wouldn’t be even the smallest problem if they grew to be cute and petite, however, the problem was, she was now a “boy.”
Peijin was afraid that He Xun would be able to tell anything unusual about her and hurriedly found a quick excuse, softly replying, “Everyone in my family is short.”
He Xun looked at Peijin from top to bottom and the corners of his lips raised, a contemplative smile on his face rose as he replied, “So it’s like this.”
The path from the dorms to their classroom wasn’t by any means far, but because it was so short, there was an endless amount of people greeting He Xun as they walked.
He Xun’s responses were extremely apathetic, but those that greeted him didn’t seem to mind in the slightest, as if they were already used to it.
Peijin’s heart was momentarily filled with curiosity as she looked at her roommate’s back. She felt that his reputation was likely to be greater than the male leads.
It was a shame that this character didn’t even have a single appearance in the book. However, maybe when Peijin was reading the novel she really didn’t notice it.
It didn’t make a difference if the book had actually had a few lines concerning He Xun. In short, in this book, her roommate wasn’t an important character at all.
As she thought of it like this, Peijin felt an inexplicable feeling of sympathy rose in her heart. Who made her roommate and her become small characters in this story, huh.
After they arrived in the classroom, Peijin confronted for the first time the feeling that she was truly not attending a co-ed, commoner high school, but All Handsome Men’s Highschool. Just like the name implied, this is an all-boys’ high school, the school didn’t have any female students.
If she were to say before that she didn’t have any particular feelings like this, then this feeling would be too obvious to ignore once she entered the classroom.
The classroom was completely filled with boys. Furthermore, each and every one of them were tall, around more than 170 centimeters. There were all types of boys, sunny and invigorating, elegant and gentle, cute baby faced ones. Long story short, to sum it up in one line, the intense feeling coming from the male hormones in the classroom was enough to break through the roof. .
As for her, it was like she was a dwarf who had accidentally entered a class of male models and was instantly drowned in the crowd.
As soon as they saw He Xun, his few brotherly friends bustled over and surrounded him.
“Ah Xun, you’ve arrived.”
“Big Brother Xun, you’ve become more handsome in the days we haven’t met.”
“Ah Xun, after class ends, do you want to go hang out in the poolroom?”
He Xun nonchalantly found a back-row seat and after he discovered a comfortable posture to sit at, did he open his mouth to unhurriedly say, “Not going.”
Zheng Li immediately asked, “Why not?”
He Xun took out a lighter from his trouser’s pocket and carelessly threw it into his desk. The lighter rolled several times inside the desk before it finally came to a stop.
Once the sound of the clanking sound died away, He Xun unconcernedly replied, “I live at the school now.” Although a few of the school’s rules and regulations were for nothing but decoration, from beginning to end, self-practicing these rules fluctuated with He Xun’s mood. Yet tonight he really didn’t have any interest to go to whichever poolroom.
Li Xingkong, nicknamed ‘Fatty’, held a look of astonishment, “Living at the school? Big Brother Xun, you’re living at the school? Are you living by yourself or in a two-person room?”
“Two-person.”
As soon as his words fell out of his mouth, a wave of ‘what the fuck’ instantly sounded from his side.
“What the fuck, He Xun, whose your roommate?”
“Brother Xun, you’re actually living together with someone?”
“Damn it, who is it? They must’ve saved the universe in their last life. (1)”
(1) This is the phrase “上辈子该是拯救了银河系”, which roughly translates to what is in the sentence, meaning that someone must have met/received extreme luck.
In the ruckus of everyone speaking all at once, He Xun’s lip curled. He motioned his lower jaw toward where Peijin was, “There, it’s that small nerd.”
Only then did his group discover Peijin. There was no helping it, Peijin’s presence truly wasn’t strong.
Plus, she wasn’t tall and as a result, she looked just like a child. The group really hadn’t considered her to be He Xun’s roommate.
As they caught sight of Peijin, Fatty and Zheng Li as well as a few others started to gossip again.
“Who is this guy, why do I feel like I’ve never seen them before?”
“He’s from a country of midgets.”
“Hahaha, which village did this nerd come from?”
Peijin stood quietly and didn’t say a single thing. This was still her first time experiencing the gossip and skillful, poisonous tongues of boys. She felt that this group of boys really really weren’t cute in the least, but in the same crowd as her past relatives (1). Not only did she discover this after entering the classroom, but while each of the boys were so handsome that even god would get angry, the one that was the most handsome, was still her own roommate. At best, the others could only be considered as above average.
(1) 七大姑八大姨 is the phrase used here, it’s meant to imply they’re like the nagging, gossiping older ladies in Chinese stereotypes.
As he heard several people becoming more unruly the more they spoke, He Xun was unable to tolerate it and knocked on the table, “Enough, it’s not up to all of you to criticize them.”
Zheng Li, Fatty, and Zhang Chen, stared at each other in a loss as they heard these words. Oh, it seems this small nerd had some skills, she was able to make He Xun open his mouth to help her.
No one dared to defy He Xun’s words. Naturally, after he had spoken out and helped rescue Peijin from being seized, no one made fun of Peijin’s height and dull looks again.
Once she saw how capable her roommate was, Peijin silently decided in her heart that she would cultivate a better relationship with him.
This roommate of hers, even though he looked to be slightly unruly, somewhat extremely frivolous, and had a bit of an apathetic nature when she asked him to not smoke in the dorms earlier, as to avoid polluting the air, he had agreed. So it can be seen that He Xun wasn’t an unreasonable person.
From the looks of the others’ behavior, he was clearly the ringleader. If she were to have good relations with him, then living and learning at this boys’ only high school should become considerably more relaxing.
In this aristocratic boys’ only high school, there were a total of twenty classes, with between twenty to thirty students per every class.
Each of the classes were situated in extremely spacious rooms. The classroom was large, but there were only a few students. Due to this, everyone sat alone at their own tables, with no seatmates.
Peijin sat in the very middle of the frontmost row because of her short stature. She was basically breathing under the teacher’s eyes.
However, she attended her classes earnestly, so sitting here didn’t faze her in the slightest.
There wasn’t much to report about on the first day of school, books were issued, the teacher introduced themselves, a few class leaders and representatives were assigned, and so on and so forth. The rest of the half of the day could be said to be relaxed.
Once the class teacher finished his routine speech, he turned to the rest of the students in the class to introduce their new transfer student, Peijin.
“This term, our class has a new transfer student, they are the one of the students sitting in the first row, Pejin. Everyone, let’s get to know one another and get along well in the future.”
Peijin stood up and turned around, bowing to the students behind her. Then, she sat down once again.
This method could also be considered as saying hello to everyone.
As he finished introducing Peijin, the teacher seemed to be chatting with the class as he spoke about transfer-student matters, “Speaking of such, this term our school has a total of two transfer students, one of them is our fellow student, Peijin, and the other is Xia Ying, from the class next door.”
Peijin’s heart wasn’t surprised at all when she heard this.
In the novel, All Handsome Men’s Highschool, the female lead and female supporting character transferred schools at the same time and also fell from their horses at just about the same time.
The time the two people had hidden their figures wasn’t very long, it was only three months of work. However, the female lead was extremely charming and in two to three months she had formed great friendships inside her class. Everyone stood on her side, so even though she had fallen from grace, there wasn’t a big effect. On the contrary, her reputation had become better than before.
As for a female supporting character like her, as soon as she fell off her horse, she had been pelted with rotten eggs and cursed as a deadly pervert. Comparing these two could really anger one to death.
The choices placed before Peijin right now were few. One was to transfer schools as quickly as possible, but judging from Father Pei’s attitude, the day where she transferred would not be in the near future.
Second, to pretend to be sick and drop out of school, but this was still as highly difficult as her first option and it had low operability.
Third was to be the same as the female lead, to create positive bonds with all of her classmates. However, this was also extremely difficult. Judging and speaking based on the previous situation in the classroom, a lot of people looked down on her. She just wasn’t as popular as the female lead was.
After thinking about it carefully, Peijin’s best and only choice was to form a good relationship with her roommate, then borrow his power to gain stable footing at school.
She reported her first day to pass quickly, and for the time at which class ended to be far earlier than normal.
As soon as class let out, Fatty and Zheng Li refused to give up and invited He Xun once again, hoping that he would go out with them this evening. Yet He Xun seemed to lack any interest and turned them down right away.
Seeing that he had made up his mind, they left reluctantly, turning to look back at him repeatedly as they did.
There wasn’t much to do while staying in the classroom, after playing on his phone for a while, He Xun stood up from his seat and listlessly walked outside.
When Peijin saw this, she hurriedly jogged after him.
He Xun headed for the restrooms first and because this was a boys’ only highschool, all of the toilets were for men.
As a matter of fact, Peijin also wanted, a tiny bit, to go to the restroom, but she just didn’t have the courage to enter a mens’ only restroom. Even though there were two types of urinals inside and she could choose to go squat in a stall, she still wouldn’t go.
This situation truly made a person feel ashamed! If she wasn’t careful then she might see something she wasn’t supposed to!
Shortly after, He Xun finished his business and emerged. First, he washed his hands and then smoked a cigarette outside of the restroom before he was ready to return to the dorms.
During the time He Xun was smoking, Peijin patiently waited nearby.
The distance between them was just right, it wasn’t close enough so that she could smell the cigarette smoke, but wasn’t too far that she couldn’t see him.
Even though Peijin didn’t like the smell of tobacco nor did she like it when others smoked, she had no choice but to admit that He Xun’s posture as he smoked was just way too handsome. No, more than handsome, his attractiveness carried an enticing amount of sexual appeal.
One of He Xun’s hands were in his pocket while his other held the cigarette. Half of his white collared shirt was tucked into his black trousers while the other half was left out. The fingers that his cigarette was held between were slim and fair-skinned, like a work of art, it was exquisite. His movements as he smoked were laid-back, easygoing, and his fox-like eyes slightly narrowed. As she looked from a distance, he looked unimaginably sexy.
Do all boys look this handsome when they smoke?
Peijin thought not. It must only be her roommate who looked exceptionally alluring as he smoked.
She cautiously approached He Xun after he had finished smoking.
He Xun glanced at her and feeling something was a bit off, turned and asked her, “How can an old man like you be so weak to the smell of cigarettes?”
For several male students, while they didn’t smoke themselves, they would still look at ease when in places full of cigeratte smoke.
However for Peijin, she was evidently not the same, not only did she not smoke but she was unable to bear the most miniscule amount of tobacco.
When she heard him ask, Peijin’s heart rate peaked.
Old man? She wasn’t an old man, but a fairy. Yet, of course, Peijin couldn’t say these words aloud before He Xun.
Peijin gave a vague reply, “It could be because my body’s condition is rather special.”
He Xun raised an eyebrow, but didn’t question it and just waved his index finger at her, “Come on, back to the dorms.”
