He Xun chuckled, blatant disbelief in his voice, “In this world, what kind of love can compare to a mother’s love for her own child?”

Peijin sat next to him feeling a bit sheepish. However after she heard these words, her heart couldn’t stand it any longer.

She thought for a moment, and said every next word with complete seriousness, “On this earth, there are many mothers who love their own kids, but there are also mothers who have no affection for their kids. Not every mother’s love is mighty nor are other feelings insignificant outside of it. In this world there are all sorts of people and various types of ‘affection’, it can’t all be generalized.”

He Xun carelessly cast his empty beer bottle away to a vacant area on the floor, letting out a breathy laugh, clearly unmoved by Peijin’s words.

Lazily throwing himself onto the couch, his tone carrying several degrees of heedlessness, he replied, “Even if there is, I won’t ever meet them.”

Peijin’s anger rose shortly after she heard these despondent words. She slammed the beer bottle onto the table and spoke with grave sincerity, “You haven’t even tried, so how can you say you won’t experience it? He Xun, you should have more faith in this world, and in yourself.”

He Xun sounded out an ‘Oh’, but his attitude was still enthusiastic, “Then I’ll take your word for it.”

After three rounds of drinks, Fatty was clearly pissed drunk and was off-key singing a folk song.

Zheng Li took out his phone, giggling and looking through it. No one knew what amusing things he had come across.

Zhang Chen’s face was flushed red and obviously on the verge of falling face-flat on the floor.

Several bottles of iced beers had been consumed, and they had also drank more than half of the red wine.

Only a few assortments of dishes were left over, this meal was just about finished.

He Xun stood up from the living room’s sofa, absentmindedly kicking away the beer bottles strewn around him.

Hearing the clinking crashes of the bottles, Fatty chuckled and slurred, “Brother Xun, com’on, let’s continue drinking.”

He Xun was completely not in the mood to take care of Fatty, who was clearly somewhat inebriated. He grabbed Peijin’s collar and said listlessly, “Going back.”

Peijin had been caught by He Xun as if he had been grabbing a small chick.

Once they returned to their own dorm, the atmosphere quieted all at once. It was almost like they could hear Fatty’s noisy voice by their ears. However the quiet bedroom distinctly told Peijin, the carnival earlier had already disbanded.

He Xun took off his clothes, throwing his shirt inattentively onto the floor and then leaning his whole persons heavily onto the leather chair.

He hadn’t drank much tonight, something like drowning his sorrows in drinks was something he had never done, and never planned to do.

After seeing this, Peijin picked up his white shirt and then folded it neatly, placing it in a bin at the side.

The bin contained all the clothes that He Xunw as about to throw away.

This eldest young master was very particular, after wearing shirts and pants once he would never wear them again. His style was even better than his own taste. To say, if He Xun’s appearance in itself could fight, then with the addition of his clothes and style, this face of his and his temperament, then you wouldn’t be able to find a single person in this entire school who could be his opponent.

Although for He Xun, clothes were nothing but a disposable consumable, when it came to his own shoes he treasured them. Even if he were to wear them several times he wouldn’t throw them away.

Once she placed away his clothes, Peijin bit her lip and looked at He Xun. Afterwards, she slipped into the kitchen.

He Xun unlocked his phone and started to play on his phone for a while. After playing a game, he noticed that he hadn’t seen Peijin for quite some time, so he called aloud, “Nerd, what’re you doing?”

Peijin’s hands unceasingly moved and after hearing his call, she yelled back from the kitchen, “Nothing. I’m almost done.”

Not long after, Peijin came out, carrying a bowl of steaming hot longevity noodles.

This bowl of longevity noodles had a delicious appearance and there was an even more attractively placed fried egg on top.

In this bowl of noodles, it could be said that it was both delicious and good looking, but moreover, it carried the well-wishes that Peijin had filled within it.

Peijin placed this bowl of freshly cooked, just off the stove noodles on the table and said, “Brother Xun, I didn’t see you eat much earlier, so I cooked this bowl of longevity noodles for you.”

It was true that the dishes from a short while ago were tasty, but how could he not eat any noodles on his birthday? (1)

(1) There is a Chinese tradition of eating noodles on one’s birthday for blessings of a long, good life.

Even if it was made from a five-star hotel, it couldn’t replace a home-made bowl of birthday noodles.

That was because longevity noodles weren’t just a bowl of noodles, but more so a blessing.

He Xun silently stared at the still steaming bowl of longevity noodles on the table, and didn’t move for a long time.

Peijin smiled as she placed a pair of chopsticks in his hands, “Brother Xun, eat. If not, you can make a wish first?”

He Xun took the chopsticks and his eyelids lowered, his voice was a bit hoarse when he replied, “I have nothing to wish for.”

With an ‘I see’, Peijin grinned, “Then quickly eat. Happy birthday, may you live safely and peacefully.”

When Peijin said ‘safely and peacefully’, she particularly emphasized it.

That was because shortly before when she had been in the kitchen cooking the noodles, a sudden flash of realization had come across her. She remembered the one description of He Xun in All Boys’ Highschool.

In the entire book, there had only been one, simply put sentence that talked of him, however those words had been enough to summarize his short life.

“After the school’s preceding most handsome boy, Hu Xun had died in an accident, Ji Chengjue quickly took over his position and became the newest ‘most attractive’ student of the boys’ only high school.”

Once she recalled these words, Peijin felt panicked, and then upset.

She was really upset. Her Demon King roommate, he was such a good person. It was a shame…

Peijin reined in her distress deep into her heart and pursed her lips, looking at He Xun as she spoke, “He Xun, you must live well. I know you don’t believe what I said before, but that’s fine. Time is the fairest judge and eventually you will know, one day, how there will be someone who will love you.”
