"Boss, you're here. Good, do you know what Kahn has done?" Charlie shouted with red eyes.

"He killed John, killed Jerry, killed Tom, damn it! Who knows how many more he's killed!" Charlie was almost mad, "That shit, those were people, living, breathing people he manufactured!"

"Damn this son of a bitch, I'm going to kill him, are you going to stop me?" Charlie asked with red eyes.

Raul's face changed, somewhat disbelieving, "Charlie, is there some misunderstanding here? Dr. Kahn isn't that kind of person!"

"You're the one who's wrong! I was wrong, we were all damn wrong!"

Charlie roared, pointing at the mutated parrot that was now cowering and pretending to be dead, "That parrot saw everything, and besides, I found this, right inside the feeding port, it's Jerry's ring."

"You don't even eat people, you eat people! I'm going to kill you!"

Charlie remembered how Li Mu had given up eating him, and his anger intensified, thinking that even a headless zombie was better than this man.

"Charlie, calm down, calm down. If all of this is true, I won't stop you, okay. But let's calm down now, maybe you should have a cup of coffee to calm down."

Raul spoke softly, looking at Dr. Kahn, "Kahn, aren't you going to explain yourself?"

Kahn grunted, holding his leg that had been shot, "First, zombies do eat people, it's their biological instinct, it can't be changed. Do you know why?"

"Because we survivors all have antibodies to the Dead Virus, or rather, the antibodies are ineffective. Our bodies secrete an enzyme that can suppress the concentration of the Dead Virus, thus slowing down its impact on the genetic chain to an extremely weak level."

"And zombies need this enzyme to suppress the continuously dividing Dead Virus in their bodies, to prevent the genetic chain from completely collapsing. Now you understand? To zombies, we are the cure, the cure that can suppress the concentration of the Dead Virus. So when zombies see people, they go crazy."

"That's not the Dead Virus controlling them, it's their biological instinct. To them, we are the cure."

"So zombies eat people, and they have to eat people to survive, it can't be changed."

"And the people you mentioned, they were all going to die anyway. I didn't have enough medicine to treat them, so why not let them make more contributions to the living? With this vitamin, as long as you're not directly bitten by a zombie, even minor scratches might be saved."

"It's a cure, for zombies, and for people, it's the same."

Dr. Kahn's tone was very calm, so calm that it made Charlie feel a chill.

So Charlie just pressed the gun hard against Dr. Kahn's head, "I don't care about your damn reasons. I only know that you killed them. And you ate them in the most cruel way!"

Kahn sneered, "Talking about cruelty. This is just a scientific necessity. Do you know about smallpox? At first, to treat smallpox, the emperor would order people to be infected with the smallpox virus, using countless people to save one. You'd call it cruel, but without such cruelty, smallpox might still be a fatal disease today!"

"You call me cruel, just because you don't know that in science, there is no such thing as cruelty, only whether it's worth it or not."

"You're full of shit!"

Charlie roared with red eyes, "If this wasn't the end of the world, would you dare? You'd have been shot long ago! Do you think now that it's the end of the world, no one will care? I'll tell you, no way, if heaven doesn't punish you, I will!"

"Idiot. Do you think the world has changed? I'll tell you, the world has never changed. Even if it wasn't the end of the world, it would still be a society where people eat people. It's just covered with a legal veneer."

"Either eat people or be eaten. That's all there is to it."

"Children distinguish right from wrong, adults only recognize benefits."

Dr. Kahn sneered, "Alright, you've had your tantrum, let me go. I need to get back to work."

"Damn, you make so much sense, I can't even argue with you."

Charlie laughed loudly, tears streaming down his face, his fingers slowly tightening, "So, go tell John, tell Tom, tell Jerry, see if they forgive you."

"Charlie, no!"

Raul shouted.

Bang! A gunshot.

Everyone was stunned. Charlie, disbelieving, looked at his chest where a spot of blood was spreading, a look of betrayal flashing in his eyes. The gun in his hand slipped away.

"Damn it, Fox, who told you to shoot!"

Raul glared at Fox, who had suddenly fired.

"Boss, Dr. Kahn can't die," Fox said coldly, "Besides, we knew about this, didn't we? If Charlie can't accept it, then he has to be killed."

A look of despair flashed in Charlie's eyes. This statement was more painful than Fox's sudden shot. He thought Dr. Kahn had betrayed them, but the truth was even more painful.

It turned out that from the beginning, they knew everything, and only he was in the dark. In Raul's mind, the true traitor was not Dr. Kahn, but him.

It wasn't that the world was too crazy, but that he was too kind.

Thinking of this, Charlie fell weakly to the ground, blood staining his chest, coughing up blood, his eyes devoid of any light. What could he say, what could he do.

"Damn it, why is this happening!"

Raul couldn't help but curse, supporting Charlie, pressing on his wound, and roaring at the tactical team members, "What are you waiting for, come help. Get Charlie and Kahn to the lab."

"Shit! Kahn, can you save him?"

A group of people hurriedly carried Charlie and Kahn to the lab. On the operating table, Li Mu was quietly sleeping, bound by alloy chains.

But no one had time to look at him. They hurriedly took out the medical kit, stopping Kahn's bleeding while looking helplessly at Charlie, who was coughing up blood.

"Boss, forget it. He can't be saved."

Someone sighed.

"Shut up. Fox, you bastard, did you learn to shoot your teammates in the army?" Raul tried to stop the blood from Charlie's chest, but it just kept flowing.

"Boss, do you have any other options?" Fox just asked.

Raul was speechless. He couldn't be sure if he would have shot Charlie if Fox hadn't.

The answer, Raul didn't dare to think about, because he knew the answer, and saying it would be meaningless.

"What a stupid guy." Kahn frowned, removing the bullet from his own wound, his face pale.

"Damn it, Raul, because of your negligence, so many unnecessary troubles have been caused, interrupting my research, destroying the production line, and I got injured!"

Kahn cursed irritably.

"Shut up." Raul shouted.

"You idiot, didn't I say not to do this kind of thing before we returned? Damn it, if you hadn't acted rashly, this wouldn't have happened!"

Kahn snorted, "Anyway, since it's already like this, you better fix it quickly. Don't disturb my work."

Raul was almost furious, scratching his head irritably, taking a deep breath, and pulling out his gun, "Sorry, Charlie. I'll set you free. Rest assured, I promise to bury you properly."

Charlie's lips moved, as if in a last moment of clarity, he looked at Li Mu, who was bound on the operating table, and suddenly smiled, blood oozing from the corner of his mouth, as if trying to speak.

Raul leaned in, "Charlie, what do you want to say?"

"Can... can I see that pendant? I... I've always wanted one." Charlie's voice was very weak. Raul nodded, seeing the pendant on the table, he grabbed it and placed it in Charlie's hand, "Look, take your time. Is it good?"

Charlie gently held the pendant and smiled, nodding, "I..."

Raul leaned in, "Take your time, no rush."

"I said... I damn your whole family!"

Raul's face turned black, but Charlie was coughing and laughing, slowly pressing the pendant, a blue light instantly enveloping the lab, and a ethereal voice suddenly echoing.

"Just because I looked at you in the crowd, I can never forget your face..."

In the ethereal voice, Raul slowly raised his gun, a cold light flashing in his eyes, and without hesitation, two shots hit Charlie's heart, blood splattering everywhere.

"Burial him properly." Raul's voice was hoarse.

Kahn sneered, "I thought after he cursed you, you'd become a bit colder."

"I won't hand my comrade over to you, whether he accepts us or not. The only thing I can do is not let his body fall into your hands, whether you use it for vitamins or to feed zombies, I can't accept it."

Raul glared at Kahn, "Don't think I don't know what that M2 is! Kahn, your madness had better not exceed my limits, or I'll kill you!"

"Hypocrite." Kahn sneered.

"I know the world is crazy, and to survive, you have to be crazier than the world. But that doesn't mean I'll be like you. At least, that hypocrisy can make me feel a bit better."

Raul sneered, signaling Fox to take Charlie's body away. Raul reached for the pendant to turn off the blue projection.
