At half past five in the afternoon, as the October sun set, the door of the apartment was suddenly pushed open. Annie, somewhat anxious, pretended to be busy in the kitchen.

"Woman, we're back. Quickly bring us something to eat and drink."

The red mutant parrot shouted loudly.

"Yes, I understand."

Annie replied, trying to remain calm, and poked her head out to greet Li Mu, who was wearing sunglasses. Li Mu gave Annie a cold glance, nodded slightly, and walked to the sofa in the center of the living room and sat down. The red mutant parrot dropped a bag from its claws and, surprisingly, had found a vinyl record and a record player somewhere.

Charlie, who was outside the door, remained silent, brought in a generator and a bucket of gasoline, and after setting them down, his blood-red eyes flickered as he habitually began searching for the little girl.

"Woman, come here. I can't understand this manual." The red mutant parrot called out excitedly.

Annie cautiously walked out, her eyes brightening at the sight of the generator. With a generator, it meant there would be electricity, which meant that at least in this room, she could finally return to her previous world.

The red mutant parrot was indeed very smart. After a few explanations from Annie, it quickly understood how to operate the generator. Soon, with a rumbling sound, the generator started up. The red mutant parrot, unafraid of electricity, quickly connected the generator to the room's power system with the help of the manual and Annie's guidance.

In the faint smell of fuel, the room was finally illuminated again. Annie was very happy and almost turned on all the lights in the room, basking in the bright and satisfying glow.

The little girl also woke up, seeing the brightly lit room, and giggled happily, "Sister, we won't have to use candles anymore, right?"

"Vivian." Annie called out, quickly running over and picking up the little girl, just a moment before Charlie's hand could reach out.

Charlie became agitated, his blood-red eyes flashing with a hint of savagery. He wanted to tear apart this damned woman who always interfered with his closeness to the little girl.

Li Mu suddenly extended his hand. This sudden action made both Annie and Charlie quiet, unsure of Li Mu's intentions, and they could only look at the red mutant parrot.

The red mutant parrot was still fiddling with the record player, not turning around, but said impatiently, "A bunch of idiots. The King wants the little girl to come over."

Annie immediately became nervous, but the little girl was obedient, not crying or fussing, and slowly walked to Li Mu's side. Li Mu, expressionless, slowly opened his palm, revealing a lollipop in his hand.

The little girl quickly cupped her hands, watching as Li Mu placed all the lollipops in her palm, and couldn't help but smile, "Thank you, Uncle."

Li Mu said nothing, just slowly sat up straight, his left hand reaching out as if to gently touch the little girl's cheek. But seeing the stark contrast between his black hand and her fair face, Li Mu's hand paused and slowly retracted, sitting back on the sofa, motionless.

The red mutant parrot suddenly stopped its movements. Though it didn't turn around, it seemed to know everything, and without further ado, it flew to Li Mu's shoulder, acting arrogantly, "Damn it, woman. How can you make me do such a trivial thing as setting up the record player? Hurry up and fix it. I want to sing with the King to pass the time!"

"King, humans have something called karaoke. Tomorrow, I'll make the idiot go get it for me, okay?"

The red mutant parrot chattered away, and for a moment, the room was filled with its noisy chatter. Everyone else had become accustomed to it, but only the red mutant parrot could sense Li Mu's tense muscles gradually relaxing amidst the noise.

The red mutant parrot kept talking, spouting vulgar jokes from magazines, which it recited non-stop. No one in the room laughed, but it didn't stop the red mutant parrot from laughing heartily, as if its jokes were truly hilarious.

"Woman, why aren't you laughing?"

The red mutant parrot suddenly called out, flapping its wings and hovering in the air, looking at Annie coldly, "Are my jokes not funny?"

"No, I... ha ha, they're very funny, I just didn't react in time..." Annie forced a smile, laughing exaggeratedly.

"Hmph, act, keep acting." The red mutant parrot sneered, "I can tell what you're thinking. You're guilty because you did something you shouldn't have today."

Saying this, the red mutant parrot flew to Li Mu's face, "King, I want to report this. This woman gave the food we found to others. Those humans in the opposite building who think they're well hidden. If it weren't for us, those people would have been torn apart by the zombies downstairs long ago. Now they dare to steal our people and trick us. Humans are truly despicable."

With each word the red mutant parrot spoke, Annie couldn't help but tremble, her eyes wide with disbelief. She knew the red mutant parrot was very intelligent, but she never imagined it could be so perceptive. She thought she had covered her tracks, but everything was seen through by the red mutant parrot, as if it could read her mind.

Seemingly guessing what Annie was thinking, the red mutant parrot sneered, "That's right, in this world, nothing can be hidden from me except the King. Even the King, as long as he doesn't shield his thoughts, I can still see through them. So, woman, don't think you can fool me. You can't."

Annie became even more terrified. She had thought the red mutant parrot was just smart, noisy, and hateful, but she never imagined it had the ability to read minds, a demonic power.

Mind reading, seeing through hearts, or whatever it was, this was absolutely not something a bird should possess. The seemingly omnipotent straight death virus had given the red mutant parrot this incredible ability.

The red mutant parrot was about to say more, but Li Mu slowly raised his hand, and the red mutant parrot immediately fell silent. Li Mu stood up and looked at Annie.

At this moment, Annie deeply regretted giving Li Mu the sunglasses. The large sunglasses obscured Li Mu's eyes and facial expressions, making it impossible to guess his thoughts.

Li Mu walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, his grayish-white gaze seemingly able to see through everything, even the people in the opposite building. After a moment of silence, he suddenly waved his hand.

The red mutant parrot nodded, "Woman, you're lucky. The King isn't pursuing this matter. But don't do it again."

"Huh? King, are you planning to bring those people over?"

The red mutant parrot immediately raised its voice, "King, think carefully. I know the zombies outside disappoint you, but those humans will disappoint you even more. King, you are no longer human!"

Bang!

The red mutant parrot was rudely flown out, and Charlie's grotesque face twisted into a sneer, which most people wouldn't understand, but the red mutant parrot certainly did, "Idiot, you dare to laugh at me! Your brain is full of maggots. If it weren't for that little girl bringing out a bit of your humanity, you would have died a thousand times over!"

Charlie roared, his eyes blood-red, looking like a madman, ready to pounce on the red mutant parrot.

Li Mu slowly turned around, expressionless, and the red mutant parrot immediately flew up, not wanting to tangle with Charlie, and sighed, "King, since you've made up your mind, everything will follow your will. Woman, the King plans to bring the people from the opposite building over. We can provide them with food and safety, but you know, our situation is different."

"If those people disappoint the King, you will all die. So, woman, use your talents to hide the truth."
